One of my very close friends from New Brunswick is struggling with something (FOR OVER A YEAR AND A HALF) that seems to be very serious. He started noticing swollen lumps in his neck about a year and a half ago. He ignored them for awhile, stupidly. They started getting huge to the point where his skin broke over one. He went to the walk-in clinic and the doctor immediately shrugged him off saying that it was probably an infection. Fine, he got some antiobiotics and nothing changed. He has been to the doctor TIME AND TIME again and they CONTINUE to shrug him off and not help him. About two months ago they perscribed him a very poweful round of Amoxocillin which turns out he is very allergic to. He nearly died from complications from the allergy. His throat swelled closed and he broke out in a VERY intense nasty rash. He has swollen neck, armpit and groin lymph nodes. IT's been going on for 1.5 years. New symptoms have developed in the past two weeks: swelling of scrotum, lump on testicle, constant headache, increased and urgent urination, testicular and abdominal discomfort. The lung node behind left ear feels like a frozen pea, fatigue, nausea. He also has had X-rays on his chest and has a calcified lymph node in his lung and is plagued by a constant dry cough as well as laboured breathing. He has a family history of cancer but NO ONE will help him. He is in and out of the doctors office constantly. He is passed from one hospital to another and they all push him away. He is extremely frustrated and SICK. He lives in New Brunswick and we don't know what to do. Is there anyone in the area who can help or can point me to a doctor who is willing to help. We can fly him anywhere. Thank you!!

**Edit To add: No need to star and flag just a private message or advice would be awesome if you have any ideas. All are appreciated and welcome. Thank you so much everyone.**

Edit2: Wanted to say he has had bloodwork done and it has come up normal and they haven't 'deemed it necessary' to do followup bloodwork. Is it possible that preliminary bloodwork could not show any signs of irregularities and then later they can show up? It's been nearly 3 months since his last round of bloodwork and the more major symptoms have just started in the last couple of weeks.

I am not in the medical field. I have had tons of surgery and a bout with MRSA caught in the hospital during one of the surgeries. Major pain to get rid of. Doesn't sound like MRSA to me. It either breaks out in sores like boils on the skin or if it is deep enough you get descoloration of the area like back color on the leg if it is infected. This sounds like some kind of lymph node problem. Lymphoma Symptoms:

Lymphoma Symptoms

Often, the first sign of lymphoma is a painless swelling in the neck, under an arm, or in the groin.
•Lymph nodes or tissues elsewhere in the body may also swell. The spleen, for example, often becomes enlarged in lymphoma.

•The enlarged lymph node sometimes causes other symptoms by pressing against a vein or lymphatic vessel (swelling of an arm or leg), a nerve (pain, numbness, or tingling), or the stomach (early feeling of fullness).

•Enlargement of the spleen may cause abdominal pain or discomfort.

•Many people have no other symptoms.

Symptoms of lymphoma may include the following:
•Fevers

•Chills

•Unexplained weight loss

•Night sweats

•Lack of energy

•Itching

These symptoms are nonspecific. This means that they could be caused by any number of conditions unrelated to cancer. For instance, they could be signs of the flu or other viral infection, but in those cases, they would not last very long. In lymphoma, the symptoms persist over time and cannot be explained by an infection or another disease.

I would get a referral or go directly to a good Oncologist. They specialize in cancer and if it runs in the family, then it very well could be that. An Oncologist will be able to find out if it is cancerous or not. It isn't something to play with. I am not sure where New Brunswick is, but there are good Oncologists in almost every major city in the US where I am.

Good luck to your friend and God Bless for helping him.

No doubt. What did you expect a diagnosis. It fits the symptoms in the OP and he also states cancer runs in the family. Maybe, this medical website might give them some good information and get him on a trail to find help since the doctors he has been seeing are not helping.

Sometimes the ignorance shown by some individuals on this site is astounding to the point of disbelief. What idea or help did you come up with other than being a smart @ss?

I know, it's why this is so scary. I just can't believe he keeps getting pushed away. He's obviously sick and yet they just keep writing him off.

I have read this book "The China Study" and it is very compeling to say the least. It gives you hope on how we can drasticaly change the outcome of our diseases by changing our nutritional diet. It delves into the scientific study done in various third world countries. One example is on most poor province, there is a low percentage of cancer, heart and diabetes diseases compare to wealthy suburban area on which has a higher percentage of these deseases.

The study went as far as observing how these individuals have stornger immune system. In the middle of the page it will provide you details on what to eat. And in a matter of few weeks change will occur. Below is the script on their website. If nothing else, I hope your friend gets the help he needs.

Also, before you buy that vegetables on your local store. Make sure its not GMO or herbacides contaminated. I for one, have a vegetable garden and search the interenet for various types of international vegetables and how they can be cook. (Mung beans is one of my favorite).

The science is clear. The results are unmistakable.

Change your diet and dramatically reduce the risk of cancer, diabetes, heart disease and obesity.

Respected nutrition and health researcher, Dr. T. Colin Campbell reveals the truth behind special interest groups, government entities and scientists that have taken Americans down a deadly path

Even today, as the low-carb craze sweeps the nation, two-thirds of adults are still obese and children are being diagnosed with Type II diabetes, typically an "adult" disease, at an alarming rate. If we're eating healthier, why are Americans stricken with heart disease as much as we were 30 years ago?

Drawing on the project findings in rural China, but going far beyond those findings, The China Study details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes and cancer. The report also examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by powerful lobbies, government entities, and opportunistic scientists. The New York Times has recognized the study (China-Oxford-Cornell Diet and Health Project) as the "Grand Prix of epidemiology" and the "most comprehensive large study ever undertaken of the relationship between diet and the risk of developing disease."

"After a long career in research and policy-making, I have decided to step 'out of the system'. I have decided to disclose why Americans are so confused," said Dr. Campbell. "As a taxpayer who foots the bill for research and health policy in America, you deserve to know that many of the common notions you have been told about food, health and disease are wrong."

"I propose to do nothing less than redefine what we think of as good nutrition. You need to know the truth about food, and why eating the right way can save your life."

Early in his career as a researcher with MIT and Virginia Tech, Dr. Campbell worked to promote better health by eating more meat, milk and eggs -- "high-quality animal protein ... It was an obvious sequel to my own life on the farm and I was happy to believe that the American diet was the best in the world."

He later was a researcher on a project in the Philippines working with malnourished children. The project became an investigation for Dr. Campbell, as to why so many Filipino children were being diagnosed with liver cancer, predominately an adult disease. The primary goal of the project was to ensure that the children were getting as much protein as possible.

"In this project, however, I uncovered a dark secret. Children who ate the highest protein diets were the ones most likely to get liver cancer..." He began to review other reports from around the world that reflected the findings of his research in the Philippines.

Although it was "heretical to say that protein wasn't healthy," he started an in-depth study into the role of nutrition, especially protein, in the cause of cancer.

The research project culminated in a 20-year partnership of Cornell University, Oxford University, and the Chinese Academy of Preventive Medicine, a survey of diseases and lifestyle factors in rural China and Taiwan. More commonly known as the China Study, "this project eventually produced more than 8000 statistically significant associations between various dietary factors and disease."

The findings? "People who ate the most animal-based foods got the most chronic disease ... People who ate the most plant-based foods were the healthiest and tended to avoid chronic disease. These results could not be ignored," said Dr. Campbell.

In The China Study, Dr. Campbell details the connection between nutrition and heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, and also its ability to reduce or reverse the risk or effects of these deadly illnesses. The China Study also examines the source of nutritional confusion produced by powerful lobbies, government entities, and irresponsible scientists.

The China Study is not a diet book. Consumers are bombarded with conflicting messages regarding health and nutrition; the market is flooded with popular titles like The Atkins Diet and The South Beach Diet. The China Study cuts through the haze of misinformation and delivers an insightful message to anyone living with cancer, diabetes, heart disease, obesity, and those concerned with the effects of aging. Additionally, he challenges the validity of these low-carb fad diets and issues a startling warning to their followers.

Try to contact: www.hamiltonhealthsciences.ca...

I'm sure I've heard of them bringing in patients to try and get them the help they need. I would give that a shot - It's a well known university/hospital - very advanced too. I wish your friend good luck, and he's lucky to have a friend like you.

I'm just throwing it out there.

What you are describing sounds a lot like Hidradenitis Suppurativa. HS is a skin disease that involves blocked sweat glands throughout the body but is most common in the groin and armpits. Cases can be mild to severe, with symptoms completely disappearing and then returning with a vengeance. Doctors are usually clueless to the condition and prescribe antibiotics but they do not work. Have your friend read about the disease and if the symptoms match I recommend natural treatment.

Apply pure tree tree oil topically to effected areas as many times as you think of it throughout the day. If there is a particularly nasty spot, apply tee tree oil to a band-aid over night. Use a loofa in the shower to unblock pores in the affected area and use a good anti-bacterial soap. Drink 2 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar daily ("with the mother" not the cheap stuff in the grocery store, look for Bragg's brand in natural food sections). You get use to the taste eventually, I promise.
I mix it with a packet of Emergen-C to mask the taste. Take Turmeric capsules, 500 mg, three times a day with meals. Relief within days using these steps. Once under control, I take 1 Turmeric capsule a day and it keeps it under control. If I get a flare-up, I repeat the above steps until symptoms subside.

I should stress that your friend get a full blood workup to rule out anything else going on with his body, however it really sounds to me that you are describing the symptoms of HS.

I've been a daily ATS lurker for the past 5 years and was finally compelled to join after reading your plea. I hope this helps your friend as I know first hand all about this horrible condition. If diligent in your effort you can make it go away with only an occasional flareup.

Another good source for info is www.earthclinic.com under treatment for boils. While not technically boils, the treatment is the same.

Good luck and I truly hope your friend finds relief soon.

Try epsom salts baths mixed with baking soda. Why?

1. cheap
2. harmless
3. doesn't interfere with other treatments

A little colloidal silver would be an OK idea here. Might help.

Also, those symptoms dont seem to be quite the same as what I listed in my op. Some of them, but not a large majority.

Does your friend have insurance of some type?

Here is why I posted the rolleyes above. I have been on internet forums for 12 years now and there is always people posting threads like yours to get attention from gullable people. I never heard of hospitals and clinics passing people by with symptoms like this. Here in the states if you walk in with a sore toe they take ex-rays and find a problem. If you walk in with cancer symptoms you are sent to a cancer specialist. It makes no sense your friends has been passed around hospitals and clinics with blatent symptoms like that. It could be some nasty virus thats should be stopped, the doctors would not let that slide. I see no way these doctors would just shrug him off especially in this day and age of malpractice lawsuits. It sounds like you are trying to cause rage against hospitals.

Now if this isn't the case and your friend really is in that situation then coming to a conspiracy website for help is the last place you should be looking. Find a cancer specialist locally.

Oh jeez. It's a sad, sad world isn't it when we can't even trust our fellow man about something as serious as this. Our healthcare system is quite a bit different than yours. In my mind I would think that in the US there is monetary incentive for being a healthcare professional, there are more of them and things are done quicker because there is profit involved.

That last part is strictly a guess but what I can tell you is that our clinics and hospitals are overloaded. If someone needs medical help they will seek it because it's free, we don't have to choose money or health like is common down there and therefore our hospitals and clinics are jam packed with sometimes 7+ hour wait times. Doctors are rushed from one patient to the next. When bloodwork comes up clean several times, it's easy to label a patient as a hypochondriac and send them on your way. It is nothing against American or Canadian healthcare, it's just the way it is. I have frequented this site and I have been a Member for over 4 years, I trust my ATS family and that is why I am reaching out.

I can understand why maybe my motives could be questioned but to show how serious I am I have already asked not to be flagged/starred and sure maybe the healthcare system sucks, but it is what it is. I really just want help/advice for my friend as we are all very scared for him
And are not ready to lose him at 28 years old.
