The really, really, sad thing is that our law enforcement officers could do there job with this kind of compassion and empathy, and they could do it safely. The mistake most of the time is made long before the confrontation. If officers tried to step back and THINK before they REACT, it would avoid much bloodshed. I, with the exception of this, have never seen officers have ANY compassion for a suspect. I know for a face that there are a lot of bad situations that could have been avoided if this was the norm and it can be done safely from a distance.
