Egypt to open Gaza border crossing

www.smh.com.au

Egypt will permanently open the Rafah border crossing as part of its plans to ease the blockade on the Gaza Strip, the country's interim Foreign Minister, Nabil al-Arabi, said yesterday.

Since 2007, the enclave's 1.5 million people have relied on a web of tunnels beneath the Rafah border for most of their basic needs.

The deal between the Palestinian factions capitalised on the forces unleashed around the region by Egypt's revolution. In its aftermath, Hamas found its main sponsor, the Assad regime in Syria, shaken by its own popular protest movement, while Fatah faced throngs of young people adapting the chants of the Egyptian uprising to the cause of Palestinian unity.

Egypt should go one step farther. Hook Gaza up to the electrical and water supplys in Egypt, and remove Israel from that resonsibility permanently.

Since they would then be getting the supplies and humanitarian stuff they need, and since there are no Israeli forces in gaza anymore (since 2005) there is no reason for Hamas to have agression towars Israel, and vice versa.

Are you serious ? do even know why Hamas is attacking Israel in the first place ?

Israelies have no place in Palastine, If a country like china invades 95% of the land in america and call it their own, will americans shut up and scatter around the world or would they resist until they claim their lands back.

So what you are saying then is your issue is with the Ottoman Empire?

There is no Israeli military units in Gaza, they all withdrew in 2005. The Gaza strip used to be maintained by Egypt, until they lost in during one of the many wars in the region.

If the arab countries werent prepared to take the game all the way, then they should not have started the wars in the first place. You dont get to throw a war, get your ass handed to you and lose territory in the process, then run and cry to the UN that Israel is illegally occupying land.

Dont pick a losing battle in the first place.

and again, I dont see themgoing after Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon or Syria for supposedly occupying Palestinian land.

Before you lay all the blame at Israels doorstep, research black september.
