It's been stated that a terroist attack in Ireland is "highly likley". An attack in Ireland is considered highly likley by several terroist groups including the IRA which will overshadow the Royal Wedding. Although they would not bomb London itself they will attack Ireland instead to overshadow the Royal Wedding.

I think that as well as this threat in Ireland from the actual IRA, i do think that it would be the perfect oppurtunity for a terroist attack as approximatley 2 billion people are set to tune in to see Kate and William marry. With an huge audience wacthing, terroists can clearly send out a message to the viewing public as most people will witness the live attack.

I would have thought every terrorist organisation has thought about it, and thought better of it. If we all witness an attack on the royal wedding, my guess is that we would be witnessing the start of WW3.

I would think it's more the lone nutters the security services are worried about.

Notice the royals have never been attacked? Way too much retribution for the terrorists to even consider it.

All the royals in one place at one time. The IRA couldn't possibly get another opportunity like this and I don't see them wasting it.This will be interesting to say the least.

Really? 2 billion people are going to waste a part of their day watching that? Sad.

I am a royalist, and also a humanitarian.

You can bet I'll be watching the wedding with pride

If some deviants on the other side of the world want to screw it up in the name of hate, then they deserve all that will become of them. At the heart of this matter is the marriage of two people. No different from you or I.

Then we must have buried Lord Mountbatten alive!

PS became a republican after finding out the British public will be funding the Royal Wedding - as if we haven't got enough to pay for

Problem is that it includes Royals from all round the world..

Do you really feel they would want to risk killing a Japanese or Danish Royal!

And they get the same opportunity each time one of the Royals marry..

I think, in this age, the Commonwealth countries have a generally far greater patriotism (sorry about that word!) to the Crown then U.K'ers.

I guess being separated by all this water and yet engaged by the idea of a Commonwealth preserves our optimism.

Weird, right?

Being from Belfast it immediatly seems to me your not really clued in to what's been going on here. First off the 'Actual IRA' as you state are in a permanant ceasefire, its splinter groups who have recently rised up to begin a campaign that has little support here. They go by the name of 'The Real IRA' (Which they are not), 'Continuity IRA'. In recent months they have been responsible for numerous bomb threats & the killing of one police officer, they are trying to wage a war that less than 1% of the population support, its just them but they still have arms & the means to carry out threats, however they dont have the capacity to target anything major. Only last week they left a bomb in the back of a van because they saw a police car, they are cowards. Before I get slated, I was brought up to be on their side, so to speak, but its been a very long time since I felt any need to be part of thier agenda.

Secondly, why the hell is this posted in the US politics section

They are moron's, enough said, but they have no need to attack Ireland, they aim to attack protestants & recently they have been targetting Catholic police officers. I Repeat, morons.

Oh you mean Northern Ireland, I wouldn't worry too much about it. This "IRA" isn't even the real IRA (although they like to think they are). They don't have the means to pull off anything to drastic, a small car bomb here, a shooting there but nothing on the scale of what we had 20years ago.

Come to think of it I'm sure I read an article a while back that stated that it was possible that the so called (RIRA) were working on a 500lb truck bomb but it was likely just fear-mongering.

ALS

This was a Truck Bomb that was detonated by the IRA in the 90's:

ALS, that video is of a bomb the IRA set off in Manchester, The IRA only exist these days in their communities where they carry out knee cappings & general policing of thier estate's, they are not waging a war & have dissarmed. Its the splinter groups who are active today, they however are not the IRA, although they like to think of themselves as them. Just wanted to clear it up for anyone who may not be up to speed & may be mislead by the video. Also that was many many years ago & actually led to the ceasefire

Hope the bomb blows up in the faces of these murdering bastards.

Sod them, I don't support the royals - but I certainly don't support these wannabe IRA w*nkers.

I'd much rather watch the anarchists fight the police, at least then it's fair game and no innocent well-wishers or supporters or protesters will be killed.

Sorry I should have put a description with the video, I just wanted to show what a truck bomb might look like. I know all about the "RIRA", a friend of mine is in the the Army and was based in Belfast for 4 years (hes now in Germany). His barracks were the one where the RIRA shot a solider, he told me all about them and how even the British Army doesn't see them as anything more than a pain in the arse.

So if the British army ain't worried then neither am I.

I'm actually hoping that nothing happens, but with radical muslim terrorists and a recent surge in weapons and explosives caches found in Ireland, Scotland Yard must be pretty worried.

It's a very different world from 1981 or 1986, the last time open carriages were used for the entire royal family in one place at one time for a big national wedding. Even the funeral of Lady Diana Spencer was conducted under very different circumstances.

Hoping nothing happens, but will be surprised if there isn't some sort of major disruption.

Err .. so why didn't you become a Republican knowing that the British public fund the Royal Family in general?

Your reasoning doesn't make sense,
