Hope this helps

I agree he sure knew how to get people's blood boiling...
Funny how the majority of members would spend alot of time there, the mud pies would be thrown it wasn't a pc kinda place like it is now and they took it away... That's like the government raising taxes after millions of people put money into the economy after they got a tax break.
Many people don't bother to go in there, I sometimes see the thread from yesterday still at the top. It doesn't get as much traffic now thats for sure.
I observe that the twinkle and fire in people's eyes have died out since becoming a flimsy version of the pud pit... Lest we forget.

I still think they should open a place with rules similar to the old mud pit rules again. If an someone is an idiot, then why not be honest to him?

because sometimes honesty is not the best policy and we live in a politically correct world where people feel they need to be molly coddled.

we live in a time where being opinionated is frowned upon, if you are, then your labelled... I believe things should be allowed to get heated, it's bad enough Bush passed that BCMA law... 2004 is all about censorship, and unfortunately, I think the mud pit has followed suit...

In my experience, the standard of debate in the new fluffy love pit is much higher than it used to be. No-one objects to people voicing opinions - but you don't need to launch a bitter personal attack to make a point. All that happens now is that threads don't degenerate into one-line flamewars when two strong personalities clash.

All the same, I miss the Colonel too.

Edit: captured the typo gremlin and stamped on him.

So are the majority of you saying that it is, or isn't worth investing in as a new member?

bzap, if political and social debate is your thing, then it's well worth the entrance fee - what else are going to spend your points on, anyway?

If, however, you've been led to believe the mud pit is a gloves-off flame-fest, then you'd probably be better off spending them changing your background pic half a dozen times.

I wouldn't know what it's like now, since I got banned from the mudpit for calling someone retarded. (which was indeed pretty stupid)
On the other hand, some people do act like idiots, and constantly trying to find the right fluffy words to express your not so fluffy opinion can get annoying. The mudpit was a perfect place to blow off your steam after a long day of denying the typical ATS ignorance.

Posts by some considered as flames, can be very hilarious to other members. I liked the combination of ATS being both serious and intelligent and a form of entertainment in a way. Of course there's still humor without the harsh posts in the mudpit, but I still think the entertainment value of the mudpit was more important than the reasons they found to shut it down.

Oh, I see. Well as soon as I get enough points I think I am going to try and find out what all of the Fuss is about. Thanks.
