Scientifically speaking, of course,

When each subject looked at his or her loved one, the parts of the brain linked to reward and pleasure—the ventral tegmental area and the caudate nucleus—lit up. What excited Fisher most was not so much finding a location, an address, for love as tracing its specific chemical pathways. Love lights up the caudate nucleus because it is home to a dense spread of receptors for a neurotransmitter called dopamine, which Fisher came to think of as part of our own endogenous love potion. In the right proportions, dopamine creates intense energy, exhilaration, focused attention, and motivation to win rewards. It is why, when you are newly in love, you can stay up all night, watch the sun rise, run a race, ski fast down a slope ordinarily too steep for your skill. Love makes you bold, makes you bright, makes you run real risks, which you sometimes survive, and sometimes you don't.

Love is generally when a woman is willing to allow her partner to create his own children, and when a man is willing to allow his partner to bare her own children. Being in love is when both of these conditions are met for each individual, and as a product of thier selflessness they create a soul that is a product of both of thier souls.

it's obvious that through our life experiences we will define the word "Love" in our own unique ways. Isn't that fabulous though? That we have been given this opportunity and voice to be able to share our thoughts and emotions with others! It's amazing how we can effect change in each other through our senses. We are built with such a clever design and yet we fail to tap into all of our own potential because of fear. I am guilty of it as I know many of us are. Is it the unknown that we seek to not fear anymore?

I want to answer this question. What is love? But first let me take you on a journey that really best describes what I feel about love.

Carl Sagan authored a book called "Contact" and I am sure many of you have heard of it and the movie version. Ellie Arroway and Palmer Joss are two of the major roles in the movie. Ellie is a scientist whom lost her father at a very young age. Her father was everything to her. She is a staunch non supporter of anything spiritual. It is her theory that in order to believe in something you must be able to see, touch, hear, taste or smell it. Palmer Joss is a religious man who trusts in the notion that God has divine authority and belief can come from your soul. Now that you have the background of the characters; here is an exchange that they have:

[Ellie challenges Palmer to prove the existence of God]
Palmer Joss: Did you love your father?
Ellie Arroway: What?
Palmer Joss: Your dad. Did you love him?
Ellie Arroway: Yes, very much.
Palmer Joss: Prove it.

Ahhhh hta! Ellie knows that she loves her father. She misses him. She can feel that sadness deep within her when she thinks about him. She can feel the happiness at the moments she remembers his laughter. Can she prove it? No. Did he sign a piece of paper that said, "I _____ am signing this paper to prove that I love Ellie"? No he didn't. Even if he did; does that prove he loves her? No. At this moment Ellie is faced with the concept that there is no hypothesis or study that can back up what she feels in her soul. She has to coincide that for once in her life she has no way to "scientifically" prove this. She realizes that through blind faith there are things in this world and our existence that will not be explained. I can tell you I love you; but how do I "back" it up? By the things I do or the things I say? Yes. We trust in the love we have for each other. We believe that what we know is truth. We have FAITH in our emotions. It all boils down to the fact that LOVE is FAITH.

Faith in what you believe.
Faith in who you are.
Faith in those around you.
Faith in your world.

Does this mean that the absence of faith leads to no love?
If you take away any belief then you can not have love.
When you loose what you believe in or who you are and do not want to have others around you and your world is gone.....where can you find love?

In FAITH of .....something or someone.
Chances are you may find that ...what you have faith in...you may not be able to see, touch, feel, smell or taste.
And then again..you just might.
But isn't it wonderful that you have the choice?

So if you find yourself not being able to prove your love; just remember that love doesn't need to be seen..It is all around you ...and I believe you can find the faith to bring it home to you.

I think it can only be defined by what it is not.

Love is holding your partners hair out of the toilet bowl whilst he pukes his guts out and not being thoroughly disgusted as tiny splatters of his vomit splash up in your face.

I know it sounds horrible, but that incident is when I truly knew I loved him.

Meditation on 'I am not this; I am That'

Verses

23. The body does not say 'I'. No one will argue that even in deep sleep the 'I' ceases to exist. Once the 'I' emerges, all else emerges. With a keen mind enquire whence this 'I' emerges.
24. This inert body does not say 'I'. Reality-Consciousness does not emerge. Between the two, and limited to the measure of the body, something emerges as 'I'. It is this that is known as Chit-jada-granthi (the knot between the Conscious and the inert), and also as bondage, soul, subtle-body, ego, samsara, mind, and so forth.
25. It. comes into being equipped with a form, and as long as it retains a form it endures. Having a form, it feeds and grows big. But if you investigate it this evil spirit, which has no form of its own, relinquishes its grip on form and takes to flight.
26. If the ego is, everything else also is. If the ego is not, nothing else is. Indeed, the ego is all. Therefore the enquiry as to what this ego is, is the only way of giving up everything.
27. The State of non-emergence of 'I' is the state of being THAT. Without questing for that State of the non-emergence of 'I' and attaining It, how can one accomplish one's own extinction, from which the 'I' does not revive? Without that attainment how is it possible to abide in one's true State, where one is THAT?
28. Just as a man would dive in order to get something that had fallen into the water, so one should dive into oneself, with a keen one-pointed mind, controlling speech and breath, and find the place whence the 'I' originates.
29. The only enquiry leading to Self-realization is seeking the Source of the 'I' with in-turned mind and without uttering the word 'I'. Meditation on 'I am not this; I am That' may be an aid to the enquiry but it cannot be the enquiry.
30. If one enquires 'Who am I?' within the mind, the individual 'I' falls down abashed as soon as one reaches the Heart and immediately Reality manifests itself spontaneously as 'I-I'. Although it reveals itself as 'I', it is not the ego but the Perfect Being, the Absolute Self.

Its a simple word meant to describe caring about another person.. In actuality Love is a giant two sided razor that you walk across. At any moment you might fall but to simply see her one more time you will take the risk.. Love and stupidity go hand in hand. It is better to never know love then to lose love. The guy who said it the other way around has never loved. Love is grand but Death is the stronger force. You don't just lose you love to death. You lose everything in this world that ever meant anything to you. Yet you stay here out of some wierd sence of guilt and hatred...

My reply may not be what you expect, but here goes anyway.

This morning my 18 year old cat was attacked and killed by an unmuzzled dog.

She, being so old, was frail and would not have been quick enough to run away.

I had imagined Tango would have slipped away peacefully due to age.

She was rescued from death row 16 years ago and during her long life, she was loved and made

comfortable, (spoiled really, like my other 3 cats and dog)

I am proud with the way I care for animals, because what I feel for them is love and what I feel

now is raw grief and anger.

So I figure, that unless you know how to love, you would never feel grief and you can only feel

grief because you know how to love, weather it be for a person or a pet.

Sorry if this is inappropriate.

"Unconditional love is never having to be disappointed in others because you never set expectations for them."

Not sure where I heard that but it make sense and i like it. I can honestly say I love most everyone in the world, because I do care about the happiness for others, when they hurt I hurt, when they are blessed I feel blessed.

Accept for rapist and those who do crimes against children. I can't seem to have any remorse or sympathy for them.

It seems most people think that love is something to give or something to receive. The righteous ones have learned that the answer is to give love, they have learned well. This is what we are taught, i am good if i give, i am loving. There is a problem with this though, if i give and give and give and i get nothing back, what then???? I probably won't feel very loving. Also i need to have someone to get this fix called love. This is co-dependancy.
We want love, we need love so bad, there feels like there is something missing, something wrong so we go to another to get our fix. They are also using you for their fix and they are never too happy when you have no love today. This love is not love. It is painful.

Real love comes from within, it is like a fountain that overflows into the world. There is no need for anything or anybody so all things can be enjoyed. You are pure love.

Namaste.

You can see all of this
And watch it before your eyes
Everything owes its existence
Solely and completely to Love
Love is the factor which holds it together
Love is the basis of form and shape
Spare a little of your imagination
And say into the great voids of space
Came Love, and matter took shape.

Love is willingness to give yourself up for the best of another.
I don't believe it really exists in many humans anymore.

love is acceptance.
love is warmth.

romantically speaking I think it's a feeling of being "home" or where you should be.

That black square is something that has many hidden meanings, namely SATURN. Yes I know thats mecca. Their religious leaders are just as corrupt as ours and the people have no clue, that the religions are all coded. However, they need to see that only Love is Love, ie, being kind and charitable and forgiving and not controlling others, Love never harms.

If people see through all the traps, they're faith and prayers are answered around the world.

Love is the greatest thing a human can experience in this life. It is the thread that binds all living creatures together. Awareness of love, on a human level, is in the human mind. Our perception of love, or awareness rather, sets us apart from other forms of life on this planet. Humans can CHOOSE to love. Humans can LEARN to love. Humans can EVOLVE out of love. Humans can HEAL out of love.

It is the most powerful thing within each one of us. Knowing that it is there, acknowledging its existence within each of us, and then sharing that love with each other, defines the most enduring emotion that perpetuates human kind as a species.

Love conquers all.

Love IS

Love IS, my spiritual father
Eases the pain, so I laugh harder

Love IS, an intense frequency
Something that I lack innately

Love IS, the antidote to fear
The answer to the coming years

Love IS, the source of spirit
I just wish more could be it

Love IS, food for the soul
To find and emanate IS the goal

I made a contract while with SELF
But I forgot and need your help

False teachings have buried my heart
NOW is the time for a new start

I want to exist in unconditional Love
Lets help each other and join those above

~ Me

Love IS

Teacher Ophelius: Sunday, February 12, 2012

Love is all important. It is the one most valuable commodity there is in the universe, for all things, truths, and life delineates and distills down into the simple compound we call Love. Without love, nothing would exist. With Love, all things, all beings, all joy, all truth, all worlds, all planes of existence, all of creation comes into the now and is upheld to the pleasure of the one true Source, the God of all things. Love is the fabric upon which the universes are made. Love is the perfect intention of the Creators Will for all beings in the universes to experience, give, and receive and to co-create with. It is the reason for being.

Love is the meaning of life. For all your struggles, heartaches, joys, and wonders, this life given to you out of Love, by the Source of Love, was given that you may, by free will, as an individual, rediscover this Love, learn how to Love, and experience Love to the greatest extent of your potential while living a life that begins on the worlds of time and space, and return to the Creator those unique experiences that only you can have. To find utter joy in the pursuit of truth, the appreciation of beauty, and the experience of goodness, is Love.

Where are you going in such hurry? What is it that keeps you up at night? What worries do you really have? What fears do you harbor? What hurt or injustice have you suffered that cannot be healed by Love? What insurmountable problem do you have that cannot be solved by Love?

Love is the answer my friends, Love is the antidote to the self-inflicted poisons of life. To be apart from love is to be in darkness. For Love is the Light that shines in the dark and illuminates the truth of reality. Wake up from your slumber and open your eyes to Love! Do you not see? Are you so blinded by pride and the material illusions of life that you cannot feel Love? Nothing will satisfy the want of the soul--no jewel, no diamond, no gold, no riches can fulfill the longing heart for that thing that is missing. Love is the missing piece my friends. Love is that thing you have been searching for all your life!

Go now into your room, alone, in the quiet of your mind, reach your arms up into the heavens and ask the God of all creation to fill you with Love--to teach you to Love, to seek and to find real Love, to experience the true Light that lights every soul and calls it home to completion, to perfection, to unity with the one true Source. You are love, we are love, all is love. You are loved so dearly, so preciously, nothing can separate you from the Love of the Father's presence, for it continually rains down upon you. Only you can let that love in and let it soak you to the soul of your being. Open up to Love and feel the greatest joy you will ever know.

All is Love,
