As previously stated, I have no idea. The video that I posted, is the same video that is in the article, that the OP links to. I just embedded it here for convenience.

Yeah, I know the video you posted was nothing to do with either you or the OP.

I was just pointing out that it was strange that the OP reported unlit helicopters and the official explanation was an emergency drill.

I can't imagine any official drill which would cause such safety issues by flying helicopters in close formation with no nav lights.

In my experiences it's quite common to go dark during night operations where enemy detection is incorporated into the exercise. The pilots have state of the art NV goggles on and IR strobes, keep this is mind.

My dad told me that there are some air bases here in Miami but according to his experiences with living here in Miami all his life, he can't recall ever seeing these aircrafts flying over regular neighborhoods like mine or over downtown. They usually run their test flights over the base.

You're dad obviously has no clue what he is talking about. There is NO air base in Miami. I used to live in Miami and I am in the USAF. Usually in any Air Force Base, when they have trainees learning how to fly, they fly the planes over the base, I have never seen them being flown out of the base.
You've never seen any jets or type of crafts like this...well because....there is no air base.

I also love the fact that he says "some" air bases. Meaning more then one, there will never be more then one base in a city. Tell him to not comment on what he doesn't know please.

This wasn't meant in any demeaning way, thanks again.

Edit: Homeland security (DOD) are civilians, not military; However they are part of the government. Drills, it could be or could be not, the world may never know

I live very close to the base. So, that is why you always see jets, planes and helicopters. You can go up to the entrance and ask to see the new Air Force recruits train. To bad there are space ships or secret planes. Many of the new pilots do fly low so you can hear them over your house. I'm just used to it since I grew up here.

Are you #ing kidding me? Seriously, you damn people think you know it all. Just because its a military base/installation doesn't mean there are #ing space ships and secret planes. Jesus WTF is this world coming to.
Don't comment on # you don't know, PLEASE and once again, there are no air bases in miami.

A) Join the military and you will surely find out.
B) You go up to the entrance and you will be kicked out so fast you can't even say Mott's Apple Sauce. They will tell you why are you here, if you ask them something stupid like that, and they tell you to leave and you don't, You will be arrested within minutes.

Of course it's unusual. The times are changing. We live in a different world, were the threats are different.
The threat is no longer from a standing army, but from insurgents, terrorists and militias that operate in urban environments.

Therefore our armed forces in western countries, are going to be doing more and more training in urban environments.
There is only so much that they can simulate on army training grounds.

Why didn't some choppers have nav lights on? Well maybe because they are training? Maybe having no nav lights on was part of the training mission they were on?

Do people stop and actually have a good long hard think about things before rushing off to post with their assumptions?

Hell, were I live I've seen more military trucks and jeeps driving around the city and suburbs. Because they've recently moved 7RAR to my city. Heck I've even seen them moving ASLAV's around. Should I panic and start a thread about it?

Thats sort of my point! This was explained by the authorities as a civilian disaster drill. As I said, the only time military helicopters would have their lights off is if they were simulating operations into enemy occupied territory.

So what was this? A civilian disaster drill (no need to switch nav lights off) or a foreign incursion drill (no need to explain it as a civilian disaster drill)?

I realise this whole debate is dependant on the OP telling the truth about unlit helicopters but I have no reason to think he was stating anything but the truth as he saw it on the night.

Oh, so you "KNOW" that? I am unsure why this is so difficult for you to understand. I will break it down, and try to simplify it even more, just for you. Maybe you will be able to comprehend it now.

#1. This is a public forum. I have read and posted in this thread. Now it has something to do with me.

#2 Quoted directly from the OP. Some with lights, and some without.

I turned to look north and saw a large group of helicopters with bright blue and red lights heading my direction. On top of the them were these HUGE military helicopters (they looked like Black Hawks) that weren't lit up.

#3 The only link within the OP. www.miamiherald.com...

#4 In the article, that was linked in #3, there is one video. I went onto Youtube to get the video code for that one video. I embedded that video into my comment on the first page of this thread.

In conclusion: The video that I embedded, does have something to do with me and with the OP.

You seem to be looking for a fight. Not sure why but thats a question only you can answer.

When I said the footage had nothing to do with you or the OP I meant neither of you filmed the material in question.

Why does that make you so agressive?

I suggest you take a chill-pill and stop ranting at people.

I guess you're not fluent in sarcasm. Plus I noticed my typo. You should show more respect to other users before you reply.

Civility seems to be in short supply on this thread.

That's not even close to being aggressive, nor was that a rant. That was exactly what I said it was. I broke it down in a way that someone who may have difficulty understanding simple concepts, might be able to comprehend.

what do 'ya think is going on?
upped terror threat in response to something that happened maybe?
hummm..someone once said Miami would be the next false flag but then again there could
be a much simplier explanation.
I live in NW Florida and perhaps I should change my user name to sitting duck. LOL...or NOT.

Sarcasm? no sarcasm intended, I guess you don't know how to properly read. What I was saying was a statement.

Listen, I apologize if my temper got to me a little, I just can't stand people who make false claims, ESPECIALLY when they do not even know what they are talking about. I'm in the military and proud. Just please refrain from making stupid claims such as secret planes and space ships. Also how are you going to lie to the people on this forum "I live very close to the base" WHEN THERE IS NO AIR BASE.

Also, how are you going to mislead the public, directing them to come to our bases and ask to watch "trainees." You will be denied upon arrival. Why will you be denied? You have no business being there, only authorized personell are allowed (DOD and Military members). Stuff on base can range and vary from paperwork to the building of missiles to nukes. OFC were not going to let some random civilian who doesn't even apply to the military law to come in and touch or wreck what we're doing or give information to enemy forces or harm one of our members.

Seriously now.......Just think a second before you post. We are normal people just like you with higher standards and military law applies to us. We are working jobs for the government and following orders. You tell me....If you were in charge of a base, would you let some unknown stranger that has nothing to do with anything just walk in?

Back to the space ships and secret crafts......Look at John Lear or some of the others in the military with secret clearances, why do they not have proof of these so called space ships and secret crafts(pictures), They don't because you are making false statements.

Please think is all im asking.

Well I was told that it was an airbase. I'm not expert in airports and airbases. Since the airport is near West Sacramento I would assume the one near my house is airbase. What else am I supposed to say?

Please don't take this the wrong way. I do not mean this as an insult or to be rude but if you're in the military and you don't like it when people on this website post threads on "false claims" and you state that you KNOW what is military protocol then why are you on this website?

It's obvious that not everything on this website is 100% fact but there are some people who post things that they aren't sure about because they want some answers. Like myself with this thread.

I know what I saw and everything that I saw I posted on this thread. There were military helicopters flying around Miami and majority of them didn't have lights on. They looked like giant black shadows in the night sky.

I never said that there were UFO's or space ships. Just military helicopters. I've never seen this type of activity going on in Miami. I'm curious and I wanted to know if anyone else saw them if anyone could explain what this could mean.

And when I said bases in Miami I made a mistake. I meant to say around South Florida.

There is one in Homestead and Opa-Locka

www.homestead.afrc.af.mil...

en.wikipedia.org...

Maybe they don't have anything to do with the drill but I thought I would point this out since you say my information is wrong according to my Dad.

You are a fool.

You made 2 negative comments directed at my original post. You said the video had nothing to do with me or the OP. Since the video came from the article that was linked within the OP, you were wrong, and it has everything to do with this thread, and the OP. Yet you think I am the troll? Look in the mirror.

Just so we are clear, these are my last words to you.

Last night I watched a helicopter fly over my neighborhood. I was in the car parked in the field with my boyfriend and I noticed the helicopter flying over each block for 45 minutes I estimate 6 blocks. It was strange. I don't understand what's going on but I'm paying more attention for sure so I can be prepared.

No I didn't. Maybe you thought I did but that's just down to you being paranoid.

I've already explained that when I said the video had nothing to do with you or the OP I meant neither of you actually filmed the video. Which bit of this are you not grasping?

Just so we are clear, these are my last words to you.

Thank Christ for that!
