UN, Libya reach deal on providing humanitarian aid

news.yahoo.com

TRIPOLI, Libya – Moammar Gadhafi's government has promised the U.N. access to the besieged rebel city of Misrata, a senior U.N. official said Monday, as Libyan government troops continued to attack Misrata with shells and rockets.

However, the Libyan authorities have not guaranteed a halt of hostilities during such a mission, said the U.N.'s humanitarian chief, Valerie Amos, who met with the Libyan prime minister in the capital of Tripoli on Sunday.

Looks like the UN and Libya finally reached an agreement for the UN to provide humanitarian aid to the rebel city of Misrata. I don't know about you guys, but I think the UN came just a little bit late. You know, since this uprising has been going on for over a month now! Libya even said they are still going to keep shelling the city. Now we are also putting more UN soldiers in danger. I just hope Gaddhafi steps down as soon as possible to prevent any more casualties.

Kind Regards,

Gadhafi thinks he's been smart here by looking like the caring dictator, but by not promising to put an end to fighting while this takes place. He opened himself up to retaliation if any UN troops get killed. They could even use this as an excuse to put troops in to the country. Which will suit the brits and french just perfect.

He will be gone one way or another. He's just going out in a bloody blaze of glory as he would see it.

So the fact that Gaddafi agreed to the ceasefire presented by Turkey and the African Union while the rebels declined means nothing?

Thats because the rebels are doing our bidding for us. Forget the whole humanitarian BS. The US, france and Brits wanted him gone long before this started. This is just the vehicle to get the job done. He could agree to anything he wants but if it involves him remaining at the top. It aint going to happen.

Edit to add....

I should point out that im not anti gadhafi, but he's playing a game he cant win.

...and so your media outlets will reveal the outcome of arms sales...simply stay tuned. Yes its going to end as a divided state. This was, is, has been approved by the Arab League.

And that's another thing. Is the Arab Leage afraid of a stronger African Union or something? Even on the ground level, the rebels (with Islamic extremist links) are basically hunting down the African population of Libya.

In respect to your link, would you openly endorse a full NATO operation involving ground forces and occupation ?

Yep and I'm willing to bet that will happen by the end of this week. The Anglo-American elite are probably giddy that they soon will have an excuse to land ground troops

Couldn't the exact same thing be said about Obama?

Nobody cares except the people, so let the people figure it out on their own.

This alleged "Aid" will be probably be either in the form of ground troops or money going to "protestors" that happen to own rocket launchers and have ties with the Mujahadeen, Afghanistan all over again.

Give Obama another peace prize why don't cha

Which link?

And no, obviously not. NATO was designed as a Western alliance against the Soviet Union. There is no Soviet Union now and NATO is nothing more than an alliance of the West carving up the third world to their own liking.

I would rather see NATO disbanded.

So i guess you assume that France and the U.K. are deploying forces on the assumption that N.A.T.O or the U.N, E.U will agree. Simply, you do not deploy so much hardware on an assumption. Its a signed deal..like or not..its done..!

This whole thing?, perhaps a part of this whole thing. The other part, promoting NWO that the first part of this whole thing may not have had the air to breathe?

Dunno, but thoughts wander deep in all this present world of # in areas such as Libya. I can't stand the thought of Canada being brought-in, it'll endanger freedoms and respect we have for all Countries. But, the UN Sec Coun passing the resolution, it's right that Canada provide on this occasion.

Simple and forward question, Should the U.N or E.U. establish a dual sate within Libya ?
