Of course. That was the time of the "Biblical Flood", related in the Genesis.

The Sumerian version (The Epic of Gilgamesh), tells the same story. Sumerian cuneiform writing started around 3,300 B.C., according with what I read before this post.

Elenin visits us each 3600 years, Seems that numbers are close enough.

I'm not an expert, but couldn't avoid to notice that.

You people do realize that this is a site about conspiracies don't you? I get so tired of seeing the words "Fear Mongering". Seems everytime someone posts a conspiracy theory they get accused of fear mongering.
As far as the pictures are concerned, I don't see crap that makes me think any of them are Elenin or Nibiru.

I think the reason why NASA doesn't say anything is because they are all laughing at you fools. They probably know everything there is to know about this comet, even what its poop smells like but yet refuse to say anything because its funny to see how all you people react to this. How about no more threads about this stupid comet until it passes (if the thing even exists) and we have FACTS! Not he said she said I have a buddy who has a telescope and I have contacts in Nasa crap. I seriously feel like I'm in a online version of highschool.

Regardless of the fact that this is a conspiracy sight, there are those who indeed do just that - try to inspire fear / dread about an upcoming event (or more usually a non-event). There are far too many posts that end up "this is really really bad" or "this is not good at ALL!" - it's always negative, and usually the worse case scenario. People use mysterious "contacts" that have informed them that indeed, the worst is going go happen, and there is nothing we can do about it.

And you know what disturbs me? That far too many people WANT a disaster. They WANT the worse-case scenario to come to pass. They want huge death tolls, the earth affected in some horrible way, martial law, huge earthquakes, massive tsunamis - and a lot of those people are the ones who start these fear-mongering threads.

You CAN start a thread about a conspiracy without all the drama, caps, !'s, and unverifiable info you know. But people won't... they will continue to create threads based on whimsy and fantasy, while trying to drive home how DIRE the situation is. So as long as they continue to make inane, pointless threads that provide 0% proof, others will call them out for what they are doing.

Keep in mind: This is a site whose motto is DENY IGNORANCE - it's a two way street that.

Ok, enough!...I'm just an average guy 61 years old who happens to like all things involving space. I find it very interesting. But all this talk of Elenin, Nibiriu, comet, brown dwarf star, is it going to destroy the earth or not is driving me crazy. So I'd like to ask a few questions.
1. Does this thing exist?
2.Will it pass near Earth?
3.if 2 is yes then will earthlings be able to see it with the naked eye?
4.if it does come that close, will there be any effect on the earth?

I think these are pretty simple questions, easily answered.
(if all of the above are true, it sounds like an old sci-fi movie, I think it was called

'This Island Earth'?.....

Where did you come up with the idea of Elenin orbiting every 3600 years?

Maybe I'm wrong. Impossible to proof. Imposible to proof wrong neither. NOT even Mr. Leonid Elenin is sure, here are his own words.

Tonight Moscow time, the circular from the Central Bureau of Astronomical Telegrams (CBAT) was released. The new comet received the designation C/2010 X1 (ELENIN). The orbit of the comet is still preliminary and it certainly will change. For that reason we will discuss that later. But now I want to say thank you to all who have congratulated us, and to thank those who helped confirm the cometary nature of the object.

In the link I posted I think what is most interesting is the title:

Comet Elenin continues to increase in size and another close approach.........with a """LARGE MAIN BELT ASTEROID""

I think that so many people look for a disaster because they are looking for just anything to change. Life has gotten really stagnant and aweful for most and any change would be welcome. I know that immediately after 9/11 people came together like never before. For a short time people came together in an effort to figure things out and move on. For a while the focus was taken off their miserable lives. I do not want a disaster but I have been laid off for some time now, and gas prices are soaring, groceries are soaring, I lost my house, lost my truck, lost most everything because I can't find a job. Believe me change would be welcome. You also have to admit that everything going on lately with all the large earthquakes, animal die offs, extreme weather, volcanic eruptions and what not that something is not entirely right right now and people want answers.

Real Conspiracies? well we are loosing a lot of time on Elenin, ene YU 55 is more treath than any comet a«out there in the present. see dailycosmicnews.blogspot.com... and about seriur issues, see dailycosmicnews.blogspot.com... it came from new scientist and they had to change the tittle because some people didnt like it (Al Gore?) .

Real conspiracies , is the crap about world crisis , some are gaining a lot on that also.

There is nothing to Elenin, except thats a comet.

Have you been paying attention to the sun activity? thats another important issue.

So much stuff to worry about, its a waste of time this conspiracy on Elenin, there is none , except the wish there was!

You posted a link to an article discussing the announcement of the comet, of course nothing was known at that point. In the intervening months more than 1000 observations have been made and we have a more refined idea of its orbital period. What has been found is that the orbit is highly eccentric, meaning the orbital period is going to be very long. Although, there are some indications that this may be a single pass comet, in which case the orbital period is a moot point. From what we have observed is that the orbital period is at least 10,000 years. I have seen no one mention an orbital period of 3600 years other than on this site.

... more than 1000 observations have been made... What has been found is that the orbit is highly eccentric... there are some indications that this may be a single pass comet...(now here's the funny as hell part) From what we have observed is that the orbital period is at least 10,000 years.(it may be latter, but we want you to believe this just incase it ain't) I have seen no one mention an orbital period of 3600 years other than on this site.

First, if this comet can be a) its first ever inner solar system visit, or b) a 10k plus orbital progression... that nonsense demands your source has no more information/credibility then anyone else's source/claim its a 3600 year orbit... I mean come on... plus or minus: never to 10k years is a great slap on the knee tear jerker, but it sure as hell ain't science.

Second, who is this "we" you referred to? You got a mouse in your pocket? Because the scientific world is/are being closed lipped about this comet and the other two approaching around the same time. Sure information can be found, but we should know what each of those comets smells like by now... and because we don't, ain't no accident...

It cracks me up in a negative way when people like you come off all high and mighty while your face (words) show you're bluffing. Staring at an inside straight, while holding a pair of twos....funny indeed!!!

Now that is not to say comet Elenin is anything to fear, but at worst it is a subject worth discussing from both perspectives. Because we truly are in the dark, meaning we simply don't know... to be this blind while drawing lines in the sand, both for or against, is what the motto, deny ignorance is all about. Ask questions, challenge supposed facts or pictures, not because you believe or don't believe, rather each of us must question our own prejudices just so we always maintain an open mind. That's Denying Ignorance!

Sorry to have chosen your.post to make this point, but damnit, this for or against my position when each side truly doesn't know dick... has got to stop. Pick a side if that makes you comfortable, but for the love of God, disagree without being disagreeable.

Your post was a colossal waste of time, a perfect example of a bluff...

I have known of two users on YouTube who only talked about Planet X/comet Elenin and last I check both YouTube accounts have been shut down. That's not hearsay from my perspective, its a verifiable fact. Which says Google has been bought and paid for by those who have strong political muscle.... now that doesn't mean the world is going to end, it simply means some effort is being implemented to remove information on a specific topic. For what purpose, only 'they" know.... but it is being done.... the good news is, people all over the world rip videos as soon as they're uploaded. Bad news is, after Google realizes its to late and stops their efforts, people just joining party get to claim I never saw a fight... but that doesn't mean it didn't and isn't happening.

For those of us who are patiently studying 2012/ancient cultural warnings of future events, everything is filed in its proper place, while nothing is accepted or denied. It's simply weighed against all the evidence, both for and against. That is denying ignorance. Using a statement like, from its first approach into our solar system to a 10k plus orbit is a blatant attempt to debunk others, or worse ridicule others to make yourself feel better when your evidence is just as pathetic, is IMO the height of arrogance and ignorance.

In short, to many answers remain unknown to us simple lowly slaves.... so instead of planning your escape, or praising the masters as they throw us scraps from their knowledge table... use your God given intellectial powers and simply discuss the unknown with civility towards all and a willing openness to learn. Or why join a message board at all?

We know its either on its first approach into our solar system or perhaps maybe its a 10k plus continuous orbital path, "we" just ain't sure, but we agree you are wrong... was funny as hell... for that you get a star from me!

1. Yes
2. Yes, near enough.
3. Probably not, but if you have binoculars you should be able to.
4. None what so ever.

Yes, they are easily answered questions.

All questions that could be answered if you got out from your keyboard, bought a telescope and actually looked at it.
Right now its brightness is comparable to that of the planet Pluto.

Many amateur astronomer forums exist for discussion.
The orbital elements are readily accessable.
Many finder charts are on the net.
Quite frankly, the only people that think there is anything strange about this comet are those people who dont know anything about comets. Sounds arrogant to say, but its true.

And might I add that with the eccentricity of the orbit being so close to 1.0 (NASA JPL actually calculate it to 16 decimal places), there is indeed (despite your protestations) a very very small difference between an orbit of 12000 years or "never return". Its the way orbital mechanics works.

You know that Planet X Movie coming out in May called "Melancholia"...Wouldn't it be wild if the kid's name in the movie was "Leo"? ...Oh wait, it is... Check it out for yourself. What do you think of this? A "Leo" discovers the killer asteroid in the movie Deep Impact. Another Leo discovers comet Elenin. There is a kid named Leo in this new planet X movie. Comet Elenin is also known as "X1". Comet Elenin will be approaching us from the constellation Leo. The Sphinx which has the body of a Lion (Leo) stares off into the night sky waiting for something to return....

From Graham Hancock: -"we have demonstrated with a substantial body of evidence that the pattern of stars that is "frozen" on the ground at Giza in the form of the three pyramids and the Sphinx represents the disposition of the constellations of Orion and Leo as they looked at the moment of sunrise on the spring equinox during the astronomical "Age of Leo" (i.e., the epoch in which the Sun was "housed" by Leo on the spring equinox.) Like all precessional ages this was a 2,160-year period. It is generally calculated to have fallen between the Gregorian calendar dates of 10,970 and 8810 BC. (op. cit., p.189)"

Ok follow me here.... The comet Elenin is supposed to have an orbital period of 11,830 years. (According to Wikipedia). That would put its last appearance on earth roughly in the vicinity of time when the Sphinx was said to have been built. Of course we can't be sure of the exact date of either, but they are close.

A lot to think about.... One more coincedence... The release date for the movie Melancholia is May 26th. "Comet" Elenin will be closest to earth on September 26th.

Have you checked the weather in the north east? A vortex storm, I've never heard that before. I lived in Florida 2009 and 10, and ten years in Galveston Texas. Never not once have I heard of a vortex storm.
nowcoast.noaa.gov..." target="_blank" class="postlink">nowcoast.noaa.gov...
I took a couple of photos just cause this is too freaking weird. A spiral like no other I've seen.

I'm still inclined to go with the new Electric universe theory.
It's a bad feeling, and Elenin may bring the proof.
We are not alone.

As for NASA, they do as they are told, cause Obama is trying to shut down Houston's Mission Control, effectively killing thousands of jobs. With that kind of threat, and job loss, you can bet your sweet potatoes, no one is back talking.
