I grew up in a house full of music. My mom is a classical pianist, and i can remember as a kid listening intently to the notes that would come out of
her piano, and I learned to feel the music in my soul insted of just listening. I eventually learned to play piano, and even more profficient with the
guitar. I've played in bands my whole life, and I am currently in 3.
There's so many things that can conjure up emotions and memories, but theres something about music that litteraly seems to let you time travel and
experience those emotions and memories again.
You ask a hard question though. because of the extreme divesity in my taste of music, im finding it extremely hard to settle on a few .........each
genre has its own piece that moves me...
Suprisingly enough , out of all the classical pieces i have listened to, in 1998 I played Final Fantasy 7 for the first time and even though it was a
midi arrngement I could feel what the melody was doing. Latter I found that I wasn't the only one who thought the same way, and much of Nobuo
Uematsu's work has been played in orchestra's around the world.
Say what you want, and call me a nerd but I come to tears when I listen to these pieces.
This song makes me cry too because of its awesomeness.
Ok, been a long time lurker on here for long enough and I couldn't resist joining in on this thread...
behold, the Aphex Twin
This track is immense, it manages to muster up feelings of happiness, hope and grief, yet once it has finished I find it hard to remember any of the
chord structures or melodies.
Truly beautiful music...
Only this comes close...

Ok I read your looooooooooooooooong post about posting songs that really have meaning to you, so here is mine!
I found this group about 2 years ago and there are only a couple songs of theres that are not my favorite, so pretty much every song they do is my new
favorite.
I recommend you check out their website and read up on how they came together to form this transcending kinda music.....ENJOY!
I really like the live version of their Gayatri Mantra but I figured I'd introduce you this way first!
Om bhur bhuvaha svaha
Tat savitur varenyam
Bhargo devasya dhimahi
Dhiyo yonah prachodayat
For those of you who need an English Translation of the Mantra here you go.....but if you listen you will feel it's message.
Praise to the source of
all things.
It is due to you that we attain
true happiness on the planes
of earth, astral, casual.
It is due to your transcendent
nature that you are worthy of
being worshipped and adored.
Ignite us with your all
pervading light.
I would definetly go see these guys if they came into town, and I am not big on concerts and crowds.
i won't post the link because I don't want to poach anyone from your thread but what you are trying to get across about the importance of music is
now scientifically proven apparently there are 3 things we get a nice healthy dose of doppamine from our reward center of our brain - food, sex &
music.
Sorry, don't know how to post a youtube link here, but love your thread. My favorites are anything by Haggard and Therion. Listening to all the music
people have posted I think many of you will love those two groups. Getting awesome energy listening to this. No matter how my day was, putting that
stuff on and all is well.
This is the most beautiful combination of sounds I've ever heard. It combines East and West, Eastern instruments with Western composition. The vocals
and lyrics are great too. It's a longer song as songs go, but I could listen to it over and over for hours. It's been my favorite song for a long
time. It's calming and uplifting at the same time.

I first discovered this band a few months back, Since then I immediately fell in love with them. They are a Ukrainian Gypsy Punk Band and started in
New York City. I had the privilege to go to a concert about 5 hours away from me. My car blew an engine on the way there, But I made it to the
concert the next day. It was a small venue and very intimate. I have to say this is the Best Live Band I have Ever seen! They bring such energy to
their concerts with a almost circus like show and are very gracious to everyone.
If you Ever have a chance to see them in concert, If they come to your town or nearby. Go see them. It will change your life and everything you ever
know about what live music really is.
