San Francisco Man Catches Fire In Porn Shop

www.huffingtonpost.com

San Francisco man suffered life-threatening burns after catching fire in an adult video store Wednesday evening. Lieutenant Kevin McNaughton told CBS San Francisco news cameras, "at 6:10 this afternoon at the corner of 6th and Mission Street, a man was running out of the adult arcade right behind me that was totally engulfed in flames. Police officers that were immediately across the street called it in."

Now this is very strange. The first time I heard about it was on the radio news when driving somewhere. I immediately thought of some kind of porn induced spontaneous combustion.

Now we all know that the causes of spontaneous combustion are not known but now we have some pretty good evidence as to what might cause it. Or was it something else entirely?

Divine judgment, lighter fetish, incredible amounts of friction? Whatever the cause, it must be investigated. The article states that no one knows how the man was set ablaze but that he was watching videos in a private booth.

I edited to add that there is a video of the distraught policeman who aided in the rescue attempts.

Can anyone enlighten me as to what a "private ambulance crew" is?

Are emergency services outsourced to freelance humanitarians nowadays?

Well I'm not really sure what it could be but I am leaning more toward the spontaneous combustion aspect of the case. Below is actually external content that I did not use the external tags for because I wouldn't be able to lay it out as nicely.

Many hypotheses attempt explanations for the various cases of human spontaneous combustion. These generally fall into three groups:

* Paranormal explanations (e.g., a ghost or divine intervention)
* Natural explanations based on an unknown and otherwise unobserved phenomenon (e.g., production of abnormally concentrated gas or raised levels of blood alcohol cause spontaneous ignition)
* Natural explanations that involve an external source of ignition (e.g., the victim dropped a cigarette)

en.wikipedia.org...

That is the end of the external content and the link is right above. So we see that there are generally three groups of explanations for this kind of phenomenon.

The production of abnormally concentrated gas would explain this as well seeing as how he was in an enclosed booth. All that would have been needed is an ingnition source which leads me back where I began!

Well...I'm going to use my psychic powers and guess...

the classic Richard Pryor maneuver: lighting yourself on fire while freebasing coc aine. Or something close to that.

Cocaine is illegal, so he wouldn't want to offer that as an explanation to any authorities.

Did Scully and Mulder pay a visit to the porn shop? I smell a conspiracy forming.

2nd line.

The porn induced spontaneous combustion angle is intriguing as well. Here we may have the very first evidence of what it is that can cause spontaneous human combustion. We all know that what he was viewing more than likely raised his heart rate and thereby raised his core body temperature.

He must have been viewing some top rate stuff because he actually burst into flames looking at it. I wonder if any of the investigators will question what flim he was viewing?

I thought about this as well. Take into consideration how smoking is frowned upon now especially in California. Also take into consideration that the store would not be open if it had not passed a fire inspection. Given these two facts we can deduce that there were in fact smoke alarms that would have alerted someone that there is a problem and two that there were No Smoking signs that were expected to be adhered to by the patrons.

So in all likely hood, smoking was not a factor which is why this case is so baffling. I noticed that one of the explanations quoted from an external source indicated that paranormal activity can also play a part in all of this. Could it have been the ghost of the actors in the film? Could it have been the deceased partner of one of the actors in the film that supernaturally set this man on fire as he gazed intently at the vdeo?

Man we need to see that video.
