Do you also hear the cicada sound? If so, you are the only other person I've ever heard of who does. I hear it all the time and when I think about it it drives me nuts.

Have you just started hearing it? Is it loud? I am sitting here at work right now listening to the cicadas going at it. I find myself forgetting sometimes that it's not real and thinking that I'm really hearing them. Maddening.

Oh, cicada sound. That reminded me I've read about it long time ago. I'm not sure but I guess it was Patanjali Yoga sutra. There were few sounds like this described as heard in meditation maybe even with some description. I can remember there was sound of ocean, birds, wind, bells, ..., and cicadas. Cicadas I remember as highly valued for them. Strange people these Indians. Too much ganjah there

Well what you experience would be different from what I am experiencing. I for sure have Tinnitus. Anytime I am in a room with little to no white noise I have a loud ringing in my ears. It never really goes away. There is never a burning sensation though. Strangely though I have to take a hearing test every year for my job, and my hearing is always at the top of the charts. Does Tinnitus not effect your hearing?

I am only 26 but I go to a lot of loud concerts. A lot! I also play guitar. I have been cutting back on concerts and I will be purchasing better ear protection for when I play.

On a side note I am going to see Iron Maiden this Saturday. Hopefully it wont make my Tinnitus worse! Up the irons baby.

Yeah, I figure that's where mine came from. I'm 52 and I've played guitar for 35 years plus in numerous bands. I never used any hearing protection for most of that time. I think I hear fine, but might have some loss at higher frequencies. Played a lot of Maiden in my time, wish I was going!

one is talking about you

We have the cicada noise here. It's slightly more high pitched than real cicadas, almost to the point of being a hiss.

I hear it, my husband hears it, & our 14 year old grandson is beginning to hear it. I asked my closest neighbor about it & she hears it, too. It varies in intensity from very distracting to barely noticeable. Occasionally, at night, it will shut off like turning off a TV. It will be very loud & just stop. It's almost like ducking your head under water. It becomes instantly quiet.

There are a lot of strange things that go on here, & I think this noise has something to do with it.

Where are you located? So you think the cicada sound is external and not something being produced in your inner ear? I know mine is only heard by me, and it never goes away. I wish it would go silent if even for a while.

Tinnitus? Bullsh¥t! THE ALIENS are sending messages to the ALIEN implant deep inside your head! What kind of conspiracy fanatics are you people anyway? Screw your tin foil hat down tightly on your head before you open your mouth!

SERIOUSLY. I think there are big things at work in the Cosmos, right now. There have been a lot of threads regarding this issue. So tinnitus? I don't buy it. I think it's some kind of download or communication with?...

Although I'm skeptical, and I have every reason to believe in my case it's tinnitus brought on by my own activities, when I do get the strange tone (not like the constant ringing, high pitched 'normal' tinnitus noises), I must admit I DO get the sense that someone is talking about me. I believe the old idea is that if it's in the right ear, people are saying good things about you. Left ear, bad things.

I don't think the tinnitus is what causes the hearing loss but most likely when you are older you can expect to have hearing loss from all those guitar solos that probably cause your tinnitus. There defintely are some treatments you could try and as you said precautions like ear protection and cutting back on concerts can only lessen the symptoms. I must say though, I'm a little jealous you get to see maiden live.

It is weird that you bring up the point of left being good and right being bad because when it happens to me it's always in one ear. The right ear usually feels less of a burning sensation while when it happens on the left it can make my eyes almost water.

I'm in NE Texas.

No, it isn't external, but I think something "here" is causing it. Everybody that comes here can't hear it immediately, but if they stay around for awhile, they begin to hear it eventually. It's like it takes time to get into your head.

Yesterday it was really loud, but today, I can barely hear it. Last night there was one of the "silent moments", & it has been quieter since then.

My neighbor describes it as almost like an extremely high pitched frequency.

I have that ringing in my ear all the time and I have found out there is a possibilty it originates from back-, neck- and/or head-aches.

I was wondering if anyone else believe in the so called myth that when your ears are ringing someone is talking about you. I have come to believe this because my ears will usually ring before I get a phone call, text, email our even a facebook message. Sometimes my ears will ring without people trying to contact me and then I will find out later that they were having a discussion about me. Does anyone else feel like it's more than a myth and that it's a sign that peoples consciousness can actually know that someone is talking about them without hearing them?

There could be other examples as well like when you catch a person staring at you or when you have a pain that can tell if it's going to rain. Sometimes I will become almost ill when around certain people as if my body has a way of telling me those people are not what I think they are. I was just wondering if others may have an answer or opinion as to whether they believe it is something that we need to pay more attention to?

If its not a medical condition called tinitus, then what you are saying has something to it.
Imo ringing in the ears is essentially a sound of silence that you will often hear in the wilderness when you are all alone. It is also a sign of infinite consciousness.
I've had this continuous 24.7 ringing in the ears ever since I became a Born Again Christian

We've both been Born Again Christians for nearly 30 years, but only started hearing this noise within the last couple of years.

I do think it may have something to do with increasing consciousness/awareness, or the fact that something "other worldy" is near this place.

And isn't it just consciousness? I mean our brain electricity - others' brains', sun's, universe's, earth's, clouds', celltowers',... electricity. I think it is elestricity. For example I can hear it a bit more when I clench a muscle. If it is external and it has frequency, must it be transfered by airwaves or in some vacuum chamber would be quiet? Has anybody tried to hear it in a cave? Do deaf people hear it after they loose hearing? What about in sleep, is it quieter right after wake up? Too much questions?

I started hearing it in early March. I'm in FL. The volume varies and the pitch remains constant. I've tried to correlate it with time of day, magnetosphere activity, earthquake activity, flouride consumption etc etc. but haven't drawn any conclusions yet. I will need to take a more scientific approach to recording if I wish to truly figure it out.

I hope it is the dawning of a new level of consciousness. I've had some amazing experiences with meditiation but have currently fallen off with the practice. I could certainly easily focus on the sound and have tried doing it for short periods.
