But as I said, people here aren't buying it. All the stores which might normally sell it have sent it all to the federal government. So something is up. But thanks for the info re liquid vitamins, etc. With all the rain and snow we have been receiving since the disaster, there may soon be reason for concern.

Right, Chernobyl had a huge graphite fire, which was responsible for spreading radiation as far as it did. There is no graphite fire in the current situation.

Maybe take lots of antioxidants to counter the effect of ingested radiation if you're in an area that's affected. Radiation does it's damage through oxidation, people who are truly concerned about ingestion of radiation, should probably take higher (but safe) doses of antioxidants (vitamin C, etc.). Cancer treatment providers tell patients undergoing radiation treatment to avoid antioxidants, since damage by radiation is desired in that case...

There were reports that the secondary containment base in the reactor structures at Fukushima are coated with graphite...
While the situation is dire, and still unfolding, it's clear that even if the worst happens at Fukushima the outcome will be much better than Chernobyl. Even though the Japanese and Ukrainian facilities were both built in the early 1970s, the Fukushima plants (along with every plant in the United States and most plants in the world) featured a safer design that already prevented the worst from happening.
For starters, the Fukushima facilities use water to both cool its reactors and moderate its nuclear reaction speeds. The Chernobyl facility also used water to cool its reactors, but used volatile graphite to slow its reactions to produce heat. When Chernobyl's Reactor No. 4 exploded, this graphite caught fire and burned like coal, billowing radioactive material across Europe. "In Fukushima, the fuel will melt, but it is surrounded by water and won't burn nearly the same way as graphite," says Peter Caracappa, a Radiation Safety Officer and assistant professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, who has studied the power systems of plants like Fukushima.

In total over time, Fukushima has released about 180,000 terabequerels (of iodine-131?).

from the reports I have seen that should be 630-thousand terabecquerels of both iodine-131 and cesium 137
and that is Air release only..does not count the Plutonium-239, strontium, or anything else that has been detected..

We finally did it. We killed the earth. Are you morons happy?
Every night before I go to bed, I think "Things couldn't possibly get any worse."
Then I wake up the next day...are we being systematically demoralized? I'm usually a fairly happy person. I have a wife who loves me, a decent family, am well fed and educated. But lately I just haven't felt like doing anything, I sleep often, am somewhat irritable, and feel very cynical about the world and where we are headed. Anyone else experience this shift in the past month or so?

What If "They" Can Already Clean Up Radiation With Frequency?
This is the kind of stuff we need to think of. Also some good precaution. I'm looking into sealants for my car leaks, though need it to stop raining long enough, some charcoal. filters, paint shop air mask. They're going to love my kids at school soon, with 4 X chenobyl written on the back of their slickers with charcoal stuffed everywhere in their clothing and painters masks!.
And plan on moving when we can.
And a huge Rebar in my back yard. Going to build some Tesla coils. We should all migrate enmasse in a huge flood of people from the coasts and take our own land up from the crown/people's land, and build earthen homes, mud homes with clay and lots of pebbles, even the roof. And earthern/pebble water filters.edit on 11-4-2011 by Unity_99 because: (no reason given)
