US Homeland Security Requirements Imposed on Canada: U.S. Dictating North American Air Travel Security

They also questioned whether the Liberals could be trusted to defend privacy concerns associated with the proposed Canada-U.S. Beyond the Border trade and security deal. Stuart Trew of the Council of Canadians acknowledged, “It was disturbing to see the Liberals so willing to vote in favour of C-42 when it is clearly wrapped up in Harper’s perimeter security plan with the U.S., which they have challenged as too secretive and in need of more debate.” He also added, “The ease with which the federal government handed over sovereignty on this critical security policy does not bode well for

I think Canadians have a right to be concerned about this joint border security deal. While I think there is reason to secure a border, you can easily go overboard. I am willing to bet the the average Canadian is not overly concerned about a terrorist attack. The fact that negotiations are being been done in secret will tell most Canadians that whatever measures are taken they will be mostly directed by the U.S. It goes without saying that the U.S. will likely force Canada to take on more security measures in areas of terrorism and the drug war.

Ummmmm yeah. I didn't realize Homeland Security had such an interest in the US/Canadian border.....until this weekend. I was on a whale watching tour of all things and got buzzed by them. We were in the San Juan Islands off the Washington Coast, very near the Canadian border. I thought it was funny at first and took several pictures (I had my telephoto lense out for taking pics of Orcas) as they circled us several times getting closer and closer. After reviewing the pics though and seeing that it was, in fact, Homeland Security it made me a bit uneasy. When they came back less than 10 minutes later and flew even closer, I decided not to take any more....but did wave.

My proof:

Smile for the camer!!!!!

I think it isn't even about that at all. I think it's just a shell to the fruit. The fruit being The North American Union.

They must have been trying to estimate your prison jumper size for the FEMA camps all us ATSers are going to end up in.

Lol. Just kidding. I hope.

Actually they were just measuring Canada for the NAU.

Thanks for the update.

...One of NAFTA's terms was an agreement to "harmonize" all of Mexico's, Canada's and the USA's laws - on a predetermined schedule, in cooperation with corporate partners but with NO transparency or accountability to any of the nations' citizens.

...and everything is proceeding according to plan.

Except even with a minority Gov handing over sovereignity is Treason and would mean he is instantly arrested. If the police don't wish to, I'll do it. I am not pleased with the man.

Once again one of the most troubling things is that many of the security plans are 'secret'. Americans and now Canadians are not privy to what the huge Homeland Security Apparatus, and all it's attached law enforcement and intelligence agencies really are planning and intend to do, and neither are the vast majority of law makers.

Our not so democratic, democracy in action, with too many of us not sure what to be more frightened of, all the enemies our foreign policy and wars for oil and opium are creating that in theory might retaliate at anywhere or anytime they could or can, or are even better armed and more dangerous government's security apparatus.

Personally I remain much more concerned about the government because of all the secrecy and the lack of oversight and control over the Homeland Security Apparatus.

I personally was amazed in the wake of 9-11 when they came out and named the Homeland Security Department the Homeland Security Department because it sounds about as Nazi as Nazi could be.

But we rolled over for it, and I fear its going to want us to all roll over again and again, speak, fetch, give our paws and most of all play dead in the face of it.

In the criminal world you have one person watch your back and yet another person watch their back to make sure they don't get any ideas.

I fear no one is watching the back of the people that claim to have ours.

I have seen this coming. Canada might as well join Obamanation(not that he's actually in charge). We should start getting aircraft carriers and nukes forget the health care and education. It is way easier to rule the sheep than educated wolves who actually get the picture. Besides the good samaritan always gets screwed in the end.

This isn't my Idea of the way forward. Harper is about as transparent as Snoop dogs limo. And his NWOesque policies are really troubling (ie.Big jails and fighter jets) Our own unique legacy as Canadians is at risk here. We sure have come a long way from Chretien wanting to legalize it.

Here are some old news stories that forshadowed the growing american influence on Canadian fences.

Honestly I can't believe it took this long. The NAU was enacted during Bush, why wait so long, unless either Canada changed their mind or the US thought it might have trouble of some kind. No action in Mexico means they are still complaint with the assimilation.

Hell if I were prime minister, I would arrest those US homeland security goons and deport them... or maybe keep them in jail since Obama would keep them to work to enslave Americans. Scum like that need to stay in jail.

Same would go for any politicians who support those treasonous legislation.

Freaking traitors, ALL OF THEM.

This just grinds my fears.

But when I talk to people about stuff like this they just brush it off or call me "crazy". It's so frustrating.

I guess I am voting for NDP or "other" lol

I called this two years ago. But I still think we haven't even reached the beginning yet. Changes are going to get more drastic and some of it depends on if Harper gets a majority out of the election.

Just the other day on CBC they were talking about predator drones patrolling our borders....

Ha.

Can't wait to see what happens next....

LOL...don't think I wasn't a little paranoid. On the way home a few hours later on the ferry there seemed to be extra security. Made me wonder if there had been a threat or something that they were looking out for.

They were looking VERY closely at our boat though and were very obvious about it. It was a creepy experience....especially considering I was in my own country. I shouldn't have to feel that way. Perhaps I am just very spoiled, but silly me, I thought I still lived in America.
(I am referring to how I am feeling lately with everything going on with our government. If I had had the same experience a couple of years ago, I would have had a different reaction)

If Homeland security is patrolling the boarder on the U.S. side, I have no problem with what ever they do but if they come in to Canadian air space, I personally consider that bullying and just plain arrogance in trespassing on sovereign land, specially is they are focusing on a Canadian sight seeing boat, I mean WTH ??? They could of called in the Canadian Coast Guard to assist at the very least !!!!

OP. Notice all the fancy toys on the helicopter ?....Hummm....You taking pictures of them got their attention, I'm sure you will end up in a file somewhere !!! LOL
