Enough equipment stolen from UK military for 'small coup': official

www.rawstory.com

Items such as night vision goggles, pistols, field kits, boots, body armor, machinery and rations have gone missing around British military bases in the past year, and officials there say the disappearances are starting to add up.

"There's enough military equipment to launch a small coup," Luciana Berger, an MP, told The Guardian. "The list went on and on, and the one I asked for was restricted to those items worth more than £100, so it is likely that many other things were stolen.

This is pretty alarming and also suspicious... I'm wondering if the bulk of these "thefts" aren't really thefts at all, but rather theft being used as an excuse for accountability. I mean, how does one steal an aircraft fuselage?

I know that on US military bases, stealing critical military equipment is pretty hard to get away with, at least for the average civilian or service member. For instance, if even something as small as a firing pin goes missing, the FBI is called in to investigate and they will go as far as to shut the entire instilation until the part surfaces.

Anyway, what do other ATS'ers think about all of this missing military equipment? Do you guys think that it is due to simple theft or something a little more sinister? Whatever the reason, the story is pretty interesting and I will be paying attention.

I'll go with it's simply cooking the books or bad accounting..
I mean apart from how could they, who would need an aircraft fuselage ??

I mean, how does one steal an aircraft fuselage?

But I think we have seen it's more in war zones like Iraq that the real money and equipment is stolen.
And that amounts to $billions either lost or never delivered but still paid for..

s&f..Good to see a new thread from you..

I have to agree that it is prob a case of bad accounting!
However i know when i left the forces a few years back i took as much equiopment as i could! ( took not stole )..

I have a set of night vision goggles enough NBC respirators for all my immediate family! plus countless others thing that may become handy one day in the future!

Perhapps this is a case of the underpaid military trying earn himself a few extra quid on E-bay who knows. For me missing kit is not the main problem when our government quite happily stockpile people like Gaddaffi!!

this is what happens when you pay your armed forces a pittance, and with the pension scheme, and the war disablement pensions,it's no surprise that the books get cooked, and equipment goes missing...its basically creating there own pensions...

EDIT: but you have to agree..it must goes from top to bottom..with the fiddling going on.

Stuff it under your shirt and walk off base whistling and wearing a fake moustache. It's no problem.

Some people are even stealing ration packs - do they know what's in them?!

I don't think that anything sinister is going on, an awful lot of stuff is genuinely just lost or left behind. Apart from that, some bad accounting and simple theft as you say.

I think this is plausible deniability.
When this equipment turns up in Libya/Iraq/Iran/N. Korea the UK can say "Hey we weren't involved, all this stuff was stolen"

Plus this MP is going to get politically smacked down for letting the cat out of the bag

I agree with you, I just don't see it happening.

SHORT VERSION:

Something on this scale has nothing to do with lack of security. This is most certainly corruption. An Inside job.
The only question is: Was this done with the knowledge of some elements inside the British government in order to possibly strengthen a foreign militia or group for political reasons?
Or was it done by corrupt elements inside the military, looking to make a quick buck or two.
The evidence and the sheer scale of things definitely point towards the knowledge of at least some high level military officers.

LONG VERSION:

I don't think it's possible for a pilot to desert and steal an aircraft when he/she is in mid air without being intercepted by British and possibly even NATO forces. The transport must have happened by ground.

So... How does one steal an aircraft fuselage by ground, without being caught red-handed?
Simple, by making the individuals who are responsible for security and the ones in logistics believe that the fuselage is approved for transport and that there is nothing out of the ordinary.
How? By either bribing a few people to forge and replace papers in certain areas or by having somebody high up in the chain of command pull a few strings to make it happen.

*Assuming forgery was used to enable the guilty party to transport the fuselage:
-How were the transportation papers forged and why didn't logistics see any red flags if that was indeed the case? In the end, that's their task and responsibility.
-How can someone without any highly placed connections, forge transportation papers and transport an aircraft fuselage without MI5 and/or MI6 being notified?

Moving an aircraft fuselage is absolutely impossible to do without the knowledge and approval of certain high ranking individuals in the military, that is for sure.

S&F.

Edit: Last time somebody screwed with the papers of jet fighter (An A-3 Skywarrior), it's engine was found at the Pentagon after the 9/11 false flag attacks.

I remember when I was working as a civilian in one of the bases around here in the UK.

A private came up to me and enquired as to whether I wanted some cheap tobacco, or even some army issue clothing.
After buying some tobacco from him a few times, I was then accosted by a higher ranking officer who asked me if I wished to purchase other things...basically, after being made clearly aware that he was offering much more than tobacco, I joked that I could do with a hand grenade or two - to which he stated that that could be arranged...!!!!

Got to say I was secretly unnerved by this and, just a little disappointed.

I didn't buy anything, because I couldn't afford the outlay for what, at the time, I considered to be extravagant purchases, but I wish I'd taken him up on his offers now, what with this world and the way it's becoming.

Little prince willy should be keeping an eye out for unwanted guests at his party.
As this isn't an accounting error.

It's more likely been half inched so that the SS can carry on killing our good fellow dissidents at will.

Only a small coup, huh ?

That's disappointing

A massive coup would be preferred

because there are SO MANY potential targets which need to be removed if the majority are to be saved

Never mind

Maybe the small coup will encourage others to stage the needed massive coups

From personal experience, I can attest to the fact that if its not nailed down, it will be knicked in the Bristish Army..

I have known the guys pinch tons of ammo, GPMG's, smuggle out SA80's a part at a time, grenades, bayonets.. One guy had his locker raided and was found to have grenades, belts of .50 kal ammo and 7.62mm..

I remember when i was stationed in Germany one of the guys stealing a Warrior APC and going on a drunken rampage.. In fact he did a lot in that vehicle that was not thought possible so the pamphlets for it had to be re wrote
.... However he did get shot by the German police..

As for the PNG's and body armour etc.. Most soldiers have "spares" which they obtain via various means which is called "buckshee kit" in army speak.. I had spare everything myself, because you get charged a fortune if it goes missing. Especially stuff like webbing, helmets etc..

And when you leave, you can do deals with the RQMS if you are diffy (deficient) any kit...

So this is nothing new and has been going on as long as the army has

Everybody in the UK (except the Politicians - ha ha!) knows that jihad/civil war is coming - it will happen in Europe first accompanied by mass influx from across the med - I'm not surprised that army personellare stockpiling weapons in anticipation - half of them joined just to get the chance to kill muslims!

This is also what the PTB wants so no doubt they won't be stopping it any time soon!

This is a little different than keeping some of your equipment after ETS. Some of the things missing are NVGs, firearms and aircraft frames (for christ's sake). I always knew that the politicians were theifs and when you put two and two together, you can't really blame anyone for pointing their fingers at the known crooks.
