Special Forces scandal as officers are held 'for trying to leak secrets'

www.dailymail.co.uk

Two senior Special Forces officers suspected of leaking details of highly sensitive covert operations have been arrested under the Official Secrets Act, the Daily Mail can reveal.

The unprecedented arrests came as members of the SAS and SBS were deployed in Libya in preparation for airstrikes and to liaise with rebels and identify stranded British oil workers for rescue.

It was unclear last night what the officers are suspected of leaking, but it is understood it involves attempts to pass it to a major broadcaster.

So, senior SAS/SBS officers arrested for attempting to leak secrets. What secrets?

The article mentions the onging situation in Libya, but it also mentions secrets relating to Aghanistan.

I am thinking this must have been something BIG, but I guess we will never know. Unless of course there are more like minded people within the special forces, who have had enough of the real reasons for occupying Afghanistan and our involvement in Libya.

Im confused

Didnt Our governments say there were no ground troops in libya

Does this mean this is another lie from our governments

So in other words these soliders were arrested for trying to tell the truth. Well that makes me mad.

They were leaking the truth, the truth costs your life in US, so don't pursue it.

The last person who leaked the truth is now somewhere no one knows where, probably getting raped by the American guards, then again they might go a little softer on him because he is American, unlike Iraqis.

Although I usually take anything the Daily Mail prints with a pinch of salt wouldn't be surprised if there's truth in this. I'm sure there's plenty of good people in the forces who would love to come forward but of course they know the consequences, so keep quiet and wait for the pension.

Special forces have been in Libya since the beginning of this B.S.

All Western wars have the same text book planning (depending on the enemy some steps could be avoided)):
1. Propaganda to demonize the enemy.
2. Divide the enemy.
3. Diplomatically support the preferred side.
4. Bomb the unpreferred side.
5. Send Special Forces to assist one side of the division (the preferred side).
7. Arm one side of the division.
8. Ground Forces.
9. Build bases.

Why can't we be told the truth?i think we have a the right to know.
If anyone should be arrested its the governments who are involved with the current mess.

We are continuously being lied to friend, so if we do already have ground troops in Libya, I would guess it would be special forces.

We already know about the bungled SAS mission a few weeks back, but I find the mention of Afghanistan more interesting.

Uh... this has gotta stop... I was under the impression that its not a contract if what the 1 party is supposed to do is illegal.. therefor, whistleblowers could never be arrested or punished, because it is evident their information was most likely illegal.. burn the system down.. these no good lying government and military officials...

TPTB wouldn't want the truth to be told, otherise it would expose their agenda.

Keep the sheeple in the dark until all becomes clear, then it would be too late for us all.

I believe it's every serviceman's duty to stand up and refuse any orders that are illegal. That shoud have included the invasion of Iraq. Every service personnel had the right to refuse to fight without the threat of court martial.

It's funny, but not one M.P had a serving family member in Iraq, so it's cool, everything was fine. NOT.

Its not afganistan that makes me interested, what interests me is what OTHER countries were they talking about.
What info did these soliders have about wars that we haven't even seen or heard of yet.

A person of intelligence would NEVER believe a single word the Government said. The Government does not have the ability to tell the Truth, it is just outside of their skill level.

Now if you did not know, let me be the one who tells you the truth about troops on the ground.

The Military must always have troops on the ground, before an air strike if precision weapons are to be used. A laser guided bomb means that someone has to be aiming the laser to “paint” the target, that is done up close and personal. GPS guided weapons means that someone had to walk right up to the target and get the GPS reading and then transmit that info back to command. The only way to accomplish this is Troops on the Ground.

Could it have something to do with this bombshell? This deserves a thread of its own if there isnt one.

A senior Talib also confirmed to ATol by telephone from Kandahar that under the same initiative, several senior Taliban in the custody of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) were released on Wednesday, including Mullah Mansoor Dadullah, a commander of the Taliban in southwestern Afghanistan.

Looks like were giving southern Afghanistan back to the Taliban!

Sad to think we will never get to hear what these SF were going to release, the problem is they went to a major broadcaster it says, the only two major broadcasters in the UK are the BBC and Sky, Sky is controlled by Murdoch a long time member of TPTB, and the BBC is controlled by the government, they never stood a chance.

Once again the decent members of society pay for the crimes of the corrupt, I fear the battle is already lost

Of course there are Spec Ops in Libya. They've been there even before the uprising started.
One of the tasks assigned to units such as SAS, 1 SFOD-D (Delta Force), KCT and JTF-2 is to train a foreign population in warfare. Guerrilla warfare in particular. I wouldn't be surprised if the British Special Air Service were the ones assigned to this task because of their extensive experience in this area.
Another task would be "painting" targets for bombardment (Using a laser to mark them).
And another one would be the kidnapping or rescuing of high value individuals.

To give you an idea of their mindset, these soldiers assassinate high value/risk individual behind enemy lines without any support and exfiltrate when there are a #load of enemy soldiers chasing them and go to the exfil point to head home as if nothing happened, that's perfectly "normal" to them.
To make someone with such a mindset who doesn't have a problem with government-sponsored assassinations to want to leak something means that whatever they were trying to leak would be big- very very big.

P.S. S&F for you OP
Excellent find.

SAS is British.

It's all the same though in Libya so what does it matter?

The story they were trying to leak no doubt would have been the REAL story we needed to read.
