The Five Dancing Israelis Arrested On 9-11

On the day of the 9-11 attacks, former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was asked what the attacks would mean for US-Israeli relations. His quick reply was: "It's very good…….Well, it's not good, but it will generate immediate sympathy (for Israel)"

A Mossad surveillance team made quite a public spectacle of themselves on 9-11.


The New York Times reported Thursday that a group of five men had set up video cameras aimed at the Twin Towers prior to the attack on Tuesday, and were seen congratulating one another afterwards. (1)

Police received several calls from angry New Jersey residents claiming "middle-eastern" men with a white van were videotaping the disaster with shouts of joy and mockery. (2)

"They were like happy, you know … They didn't look shocked to me" said a witness. (3)

[T]hey were seen by New Jersey residents on Sept. 11 making fun of the World Trade Center ruins and going to extreme lengths to photograph themselves in front of the wreckage. (4)

Witnesses saw them jumping for joy in Liberty State Park after the initial impact (5). Later on, other witnesses saw them celebrating on a roof in Weehawken, and still more witnesses later saw them celebrating with high fives in a Jersey City parking lot. (6)

"It looked like they're hooked in with this. It looked like they knew what was going to happen when they were at Liberty State Park." (7)


One anonymous phone call to the authorities actually led them to close down all of New York's bridges and tunnels. The mystery caller told the 9-1-1 dispatcher that a group of Palestinians were mixing a bomb inside of a white van headed for the Holland Tunnel. Here's the transcript from NBC News:

Dispatcher: Jersey City police.
Caller: Yes, we have a white van, 2 or 3 guys in there, they look like Palestinians and going around a building.
Caller: There's a minivan heading toward the Holland tunnel, I see the guy by Newark Airport mixing some junk and he has those sheikh uniform.
Dispatcher: He has what?
Caller: He's dressed like an Arab. (8)


According to ABC’s 20/20, when the van belonging to the cheering Israelis was stopped by the police, the driver of the van, Sivan Kurzberg, told the officers:


"We are Israelis. We are not your problem. Your problems are our problems. The Palestinians are your problem." (10)

Since no one really can say what was happening in the background of this event, I'll put out a simple theory. Mossad had prior knowledge of this occurrence and tried to warn the US government what was about to take place. Word spread about what could happen, but not everyone took the heed seriously. But it did happen and the supposed dancing Mossad men were elated, maybe because the US decided that it was fatal that they overlooked Mossad's intelligence, so they promised to send aid in exchange for intelligence.

In fact, within two weeks, an immigration judge routinely ordered them deported. But that is when, according to sources who spoke to 20/20, the FBI and CIA put a hold on the case. And over the next two months, some of the men were held in solitary confinement, questioned repeatedly and some of them were given up to seven lie detector tests. Clearly this was more than your average immigration

I believe the questions surrounded what they were doing in Amer-ica, what were they--were doing on September 11th with regard to whether or not they actually had any involvement in the World Trade Center incident. They were asked questions if they had ever been approached by or hired by any non-United States intelligence community.

And after 71 days, the five Is-raelis were taken out of jail, put on a plane and deported back home. 20/20 traveled to Israel to try and meet the five young men and ask them, were they part of an Israeli intelligence operation in the United States.

What for? Why did they set up there to begin with? Why were they operating out of a front? Why did one of the members of the organisation, who was registered as the owner under a fake name, flee to israel? Also there are plenty of threads about the dancing israelis.

If you bothered to do any honest research you would find out that the gentlemen involved did not show up until AFTER the first tower was hit...which would make them just like every other person in the area who broke out their cameras to record the events that day. I wonder why it is so hard for "truthers" to do some honest research, I mean, if they are truly interested in finding out the truth.....

With professional equipment to boot. If they did not have the mission to film the unfolding "attack", what was their original mission they were equipped for? Also nobody knows for sure if they set up before or after I say before, might as well have been after, one would need to see their footage. There must have been a reason they were detained for months.

What equipment did they have ? How was it different from the other scores of cameras videoing the scene after the first plane strike ?

You say they were set up to video before the first plane strike but that is just because that is what you want. There is no evidence and not a singlke witness to it.

The common allegation is that they were Mossad. Is that right ? Mossad has an international reputation as being one of the, if not the, most efficient and ruthless intelligence agencies in the world. Why on earth would Mossad recruit a bunch of youngsters to drive around, video the scene after the first strike, and draw attention to themselves. What exactly would Mossad get from that they couldn't get from the tv ?

And again, a stunning failure to do some basic research. Shortly after 9/11, the lady who originally called the police on those gentlemen, was interviewed by 20/20. She clearly stated that the first tower had been hit and that it was after she had been watching for a bit that they showed up and started filming. Again, basic research shoots holes in the idea that they were set up to record the event prior to it happening.

I'm not against Israel, or Jews, nor do I even rail against Zionism (as my understanding of it so far is like Liberalism or Conservatism, in that its definition varies wildly so using the term seems to hold no useful, specific value to me at this point). It's sad I have to put forth such a disclaimer, but so is the world.



That is the short clip of them being interviewed shortly after their return to Israel. The phrase "there to document the event" is what a lot of discussion hinges upon. Were they aware of what was going down prior to its initiation, or did this mission develop only after the first plane struck and they simply decided to film for said purpose, perhaps even high-fiving for having caught a most horrific spectacle. Being caught up in the intensity of the situation I could see such a reaction happening and then hind sight showing its err - I mean, they are from another country entirely where things are quite different.

But the question remains: were they setup from the beginning? The footage they took could answer that, but then again cutting the beginning of the footage off would be all that's required to make it appear as though they were not, and lets face it, if it makes us look bad for not following intelligence leads it's going to have plenty of people behind hiding it. That also opens the door to hide the truth for more sinister reasons exploiting the "makes us look bad" for far different ends.

No they don't "hold themselves up" that is something that would be done by an animate being, not a building or in-animate structure. Structures use complex connections to transfer loads to a foundation. They don't hold, they don't balance they don't run or jump or fly or sing or swim.
