Hi All,

Asking for help here...

Anyone interested in WTC history and research would like this link...it's a list of images of the WTC in the movies. Someone spent a lot of time compiling this list...I don't know how accurate it is, but it is impressive.

World Trade Center in Movies

In looking through their list I began noticing patterns in the lights on the WTC...granted, it could be because I spend way too much time on this stuff and my eyes are playing tricks on me, but there's no denying the lights in some of the pictures don't look like normal skyscraper lights.

Can anyone who's seen the towers at night before they were destroyed, or who has better eyesight than I do now tell me what all these patterns mean? Was there advertising that was done on the face of the towers?

Some of them look like hieroglyphics or cartoon characters, but hopefully someone on these boards has seen these patterns up close and personal.

Here in Portland, we have some pretty humble sky scrapers, but how about in the big cities? Does anyone know if there are there any other buildings in the world that had or have a lighting system like this?

These are just a few from movies:

“3 AM”, 2001:

My fave is "Escape from New York" because the towers were part of the story. Snake had to glide in and land on top of one of the towers.

No idea about the WTC, but in Pittsburgh I know that a building or two will do "lighting billboards" for the Steelers, Penguins and the like if we are in the playoffs also for holidays here and there like Christmas and New years.

It wouldn't amaze me if the WTC did the same but I gotta admit the thing that gets me is the different lights and colors and such. Not really strange but it seems that they should be more uniform. idk maybe I'm looking into it wrong or just trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

Very cool website though I was watching the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles the other day and there is a WTC shot in the first minute. My friend made a mention and then said "Damn I never realized how many flick they were in"

That is all

Yeah, the colors and the sheer number of them. I mean, leaving a few dozen office lights on to create a Steeler's loogo is one thing, but to have such a huge number of lights with different colors and configurations implies some sort of computerized lighting system.

Have to remember that many of the tenants in WTC were financial firms or foreign banks with 24 hours
operations or to monitor foreign markets (Tokyo is 13 hours ahead) . Personnel would be there all hours of day

Top floors - in reality 106/107 of North Tower were restuarant WINDOWS ON THE WORLD

110th floor housed transmitters for many of the cities television/radio stations - so would always be manned

Also depends on time of year pictures taken - in December it would be dark at 4:30PM when many people
still at work in buildings

The Empire State building has pattern of colored lights which can be turned on/off to create unique patterns

yes. The Empire state Building has three floors of lights. They are different colors for every holiday, ex red, white and blue for the 4th of July.

WTC 7 had colored lights in the ventilation grilles for the CON ED substation

My favorite is one taken at sunset - I live only 12 miles away on ridge in NJ. Could see the towers from down
the road - coming up a certain road at sunset would see the towers at sunset in a rainbow of colors

They look like regular office building lights there:
