Tonight's been one of the few nights Kentucky has had clear skies so you never know.

I was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY about 25 days ago (yea I just got out of the Army.. yay for me) anyway.. I remember walking outside one day, at around maybe 1 or 2 o clock. I lit my cigerette looked up in the sky and there was a white disc shaped object just sitting there.. I didn't really know what to think I just stared for what felt like 20 min but really was probably only 3 or 4 because a cloud passed below it and when the cloud passed it was gone... I became a true believer that day. I looked online for reports of UFO sightings in TN and KY and I saw a pic of the same thing I saw. Sorry I don't have any links to that but you will just have to search.

I live in Kentucky as well and I can tell you about a few things that I've seen, but I don't have any evidence. I live near Berea (if you know where that is, lol) and I spend a lot of times outside on clear nights, watching for satellites and shooting stars, etc. I just love sky watching. A couple years ago, my sis and I (she watches with me, usually) kept seeing tiny little lights zipping across the sky. They flashed and moved around sporadically... very VERY fast! They looked to be at about the same altitude as satellites, but I can't say for sure since it's impossible to judge distance. Sometimes there would only be one... sometimes there would be three or more at a time. They circled around and turned at right angles, etc. We still don't know what they were and we haven't seen them in quite a while. We still look though!

Near the end of last year, I was at Walmart in Berea and while I was loading my stuff into my car, I saw a stationary green light hovering in the sky. It didn't move or blink at all. I watched it for about 30 seconds and then it just disappeared. It could have been anything, I guess, but it didn't act like anything I know of that would be in the sky.

If I think of more, I'll be sure to post.

But you're welcome anyway, haha! Yep, you would be west of me.

Just keep looking up! I'd just about bet that you see something eventually! I haven't see one myself, but there have been quite a few reports of those triangular UFO's around here. I've always wanted to see one, but still waiting. Oh well... maybe one of these days! lol.

I haven't seen any myself, I've lived in Russell, KY and now live near Louisville. I've talked about the subject with my grandmother who grew up on a in Greenup Co. and she has some tales of seeing strange lights in the sky. She chuckled when I asked her if she thought they were aliens as she really didn't know. She just didn't have the concept of aliens when she grew up in the 20s and 30s. She is more scared of ghosts and screech owls than aliens.

There are several interesting cases regarding UFOs and Kentucky if you are interested in the older material.

Some that I know of off the top of my head:

The famous case of the Hopkinsville goblins in the mid 50's.
About the same time as the Hopkinsville event there were some swimmers in Evansville, IN who claimed to see a similar UFO.
I also remember a case around Paintsville, KY around year 2000 where a train nearly collided with a UFO.

Here's a wikipedia page on the Hopkinsville event: Kelly–Hopkinsville encounter

...the events at Hopkinsville in Kentucky, 1955, are regarded as one of the most significant, well-known and well-documented cases in the history of UFO incidents, and a favorite for study in ufology, as witnesses there included policemen and state troopers, and were taken seriously enough as to be officially investigated by the United States Air Force...

And an about.com summary of the Painstville train incident: UFO Collides with Train in Kentucky

...Paintsville, Kentucky,-At exactly 2:47 AM, on January 14, 2002, while working a coal train in route from Russell, Kentucky to Shelbiana, Kentucky, our trailing unit and first two cars were severely damaged as we struck an unknown floating or hovering object...

HI. If you are serious about trying to spot "UFO's I'd suggest that you first familiarize yourself with what is in the sky nightly first. Read up a little bit on basic astronomy for starters, that will save you quite a few "false alarms". How the planets move and their magnitude differ, and many people mistakenly think they are seeing a UFO. In addition, Google "Stellarium" and download it. It's free and can help you identify any celestial objects in the sky if there is any questions.
Know your surroundings. Are you near an airport? Military base? If so, get accustomed to the flight schedules, patterns, etc.

Home that helps! Have fun!

And btw, no, in my time here in Kentucky, or anywhere else for that matter, I've not seen one object that I could not identify.

As a Kentuckian who lives around the same area as Landon, I find the Hopkinsville case intriguing. To be honest, I've never heard of it before but it looks to be a significant case.

As Landon knows (I know him personally), I have no stories myself but my mother and three other family members saw a UFO before I was born. It was a flying saucer that hovered around 10 feet above a tree. According to her, they heard noises that sounded like a "junky car driving down the road" before the craft appeared. They stepped outside and saw the object. After a few minutes, it sped off into the sky.

My mother said she called the local radio station to see if any military exercises had been planned (we live between both Ft. Knox and Ft. Campbell), and they had not been informed of any exercises.

Hey, I'm from the Elizabethtown area.

If you want to search activity in Kentucky you could try www.nuforc.org... You can search by state there.

I've personally seen a triangular shaped craft hovering above a field in Elizabethtown. It was the mid 90s and I was headed home when I spotted it at around 2:00 am EST hovering silently over a piece of farmland. It was hovering a few hundred feet above the tree tops near the creek and it was massive. The first thing I spotted were the pulsating lights, three orange-white lights and then a bright white one in the center. I couldn't make out the shape of the craft at first but after a few seconds of looking at it I could make out the edges illuminated by the lights against the night sky. That's when I realized how massive the object was, if it had landed it would have easily dwarfed the field that it was hovering over. It was easily the size of a football field, maybe larger. The object made no sound as it hovered there and the lights at each point seemed to...pulsate and shift from orange to white.

Two police officers with the Elizabethtown PD reported seeing the object too and it was mentioned in The News-Enterprise. Supposedly the FBI investigated the sighting and debunked it as reflections off the clouds originating from fireworks being set off during the Heartland Festival.

So very wrong.

The festival was over at roughly 11:00 PM. I spotted this object at 2:00 AM and the sky was clear where I was at. This object has been spotted in the area since then as well, just do a search at the nuforc site for triangular shaped craft in Kentucky and you'll come across an entry where it was spotted over Freeman Lake.

When I have time between designing ads I'll see if I can search through the paper archives for the article so I can scan it in and post it since no online search in our database has turned up the article.

Good luck!

KY has had it's share of interesting cases, that ultimately led to nowhere. I would not suggest the method you are using to find "ufo's" as is predetermine the outcome if your not a Vulcan, lol. If you don't know what I mean by that, then definitely stop looking for little green men.

If you REALLY want to help the search for the truth, then you will contribute to the minimal effort going on right now to get this subject taken seriously by those that have the power to push the right buttons. Who has that power you ask? The public, that's who. As long as the public can laugh this off because of the nonsense you read on this (and every other forum) daily then you can investigate until your blur in the face, it wont matter. But help to create the environment that will have reporters fighting each-other for the "exclusive" and you will see folks coming forward with things you can't imagine.

The problem is that will take some time to get done as you can see by the very large amount of scientific and overall ignorance displayed here almost every minute. I don't know how to fight that. When the majority of the foil hat conspiracy morons tell you that 2+2=5 there is nothing you can do to convince them otherwise. I don't know where to go from here.....

I dont know if this is just a weird coincidence or what but the other night me and my friends were playing basketball in the subdivision. We were playing a 2v2 tournament and my team had a bye and sat out the first round. Well i was laying on my back looking up at the stars and just out of nowhere something zips by in one direction (it looked like a shooting star but then again it didn't). It zipped by going to the right, and it was in my vision for at least 5 seconds...but it was something that you wouldn't of seen unless you were looking up. Then about 2 minutes later another one went by but it went to the left....stayed in view for the same amount of time, about 5 seconds and then disappeared. I don't know if this was just 2 shooting stars that just happened to be in the same general area, or 2 satelite's or what, because i thought it was pretty cool, I know i'm a newbie here and some might think i am lying, but this is 100% true, and i would like to see if someone could help answer, if it was shooting stars, satelites, UFO's or what..

Thanks

Ok, I saw something strange today. Around 6pm I was driving in Louisville on Hess Ln heading for Preston Hwy and to the right of my vehicle, in front of me and over the trees, a large brown craft that looked exactly like a gigantic boomerang was flying in a parallel direction (it didn't spin like a boomrang, the bend was the front, and arms were the wings). It moved incredibly fast, I was traveling between 30-35 mph and this thing was out of sight in seconds. At 35 mph I'm traveling about 50 ft per second... if this thing was out of sight and over the fairgrounds within five seconds does that mean math-wise that this thing was traveling over a million miles per hour? I had my window cracked (damn cigarettes) and there was no sonic boom or typical jet sound (we hear that all the time). The sky was grey and it has been wet and rainy so you can tell the object was below the cloud cover and you could tell it was above the power lines, trees, and houses. And it was massive so I can't imagine how large it would be if it was flying close to the bottoms of the clouds so I can only assume it was close to the ground (still making it as large as two or three small houses). It really looked like a larger version of a boomerang and there was no confusing it with other man made stealth craft shapes. It had a rounded front and the backs of the wings were rounded, there was nothing pointy about it, and bent at a wide angle unlike our pointy sharp angled stealth craft. It had no lights and it didn't glow. It just looked solid brown. I can only tell myself I imagined it because the experience only lasted a few seconds. Giant boomerangs?
