In an interview with the Al-Watan newspaper he said: "In case of any future Israeli attack on Gaza - as the next president of Egypt – I will open the Rafah border crossing and will consider different ways to implement the joint Arab defense agreement."

Of course this might just be talk to get votes. We'll know when the situation presents itself, if it ever does... Hopefully we'll never find out.

Egypt ``new army``, supplied by the US, has got some serious firepower... enough to make Israel have a hard time, that's for sure. If war were to happen, IMO Egypt would still lose...

If Egypt wants to have any ``chance`` to ``win`` a war against Israel, they need some real reform. Their biggest problem at the moment is corruption and lack of real training.

Since countries almost NEVER do any real reform, Egypt will get their butts handed to them if they even try anything.

Its the same old story only told from anothers mouth.
Quiet frankley I am sick off hearing it and so is the most of the world.
These 2 countries have been fighting for a 1000+ years.
They are all crazy and this madness MUST STOP.

If Egypt were by itself, you would be right.

Israel no longer has any real allies in the ME, and if one country attacks Israel, others will likely join in.

Personally, I think things are slowly building to a confluence of events in mid-May (intifada, flotilla, etc).

I've wondered a bit if the US (and others) hit Libya as a way of positioning units in preparation for this event, but I'm honestly not sure what side the US would be on at this point.

Maybe just launch some cruise missiles, fly some sorties, then pack up our toys and go home.

Yep. El Baradei has been a long time UN guy... Thing is, Israel cannot be destroyed... but it can destroy itself...

Israel cannot be destroyed because : arab countries don't have nukes. (except Pakistan)

But Israel can destroy itself politically... if it's attacked by Egypt-Gaza-Lebanon-Syria-Iran-Jordan and is forced to use nukes... and kills tens of millions of people doing so. If Israel were to do so, they would truly be dead politically around the world, doesn't matter if they did it in ``self-defense`` or not.

What's sad about all this is the average guy is in the middle and will die because of those few nutjobs running the show.

Just because Egypt would support Gaza were it to be attacked by Israel, does not make it an Islamic thing. That is preposterous. The people of this planet have grown tired of not just Israel but the US and UK as well, and if they haven't yet they are in the process of becoming tired.

When they (the Palestinians)stop electing Hamas(created by the Muslim Brotherhood who is VERY politically active in Egypt) and stop them from lobbing rockets and strapping bombs to themselves and blowing up cafes and bus stations maybe the blockades and retaliatory strikes will stop.

The religious undertone will always be present. That doesn't take away the fact that heavily armed Israelis will be killing stone throwing kids.
