So I was watching Married with Children reruns and heard an Al Bundy rant... and it reminded me of the way things are going today.. if you watch this, be prepared for a video ad..

www.crackle.com...

fast forward to 4:20-4:25 and listen for about 30 seconds to a minute.

Eh maybe I am looking into it too much? If you watch, opinions please.

Ah.. well, Al is complaining about how the mall he works at got rid of free employee parking, and they now have to park a few blocks away and pay...

"am I the only one who that senses that slowly but surely, our freedoms are being taken away?"

is the main quote I wanted to highlight.

Al Bundy is a prophet to us men.
Will we sit down for this kind of action, NO MAAM!

I think that you're definitely reading way too much into it.

On a related note, I love that show. It sucks that they had to replace the theme music on the DVD version due to copyright restraints or whatever.

LOL, sorry but Al Bundy was nowhere near the first to make such a statement regarding the chipping away of our liberty. Such issues predate the United States, no less television.

The joke is the joining of the serious statement regarding the loss of freedom to what Al equates as freedom - Al's blue collar lifestyle equates freedom to something as frivolous as a parking spot, a common gag in the show (having nothing of any real value but grasping at it as though it were for it's all they have).

edit on 5-4-2011 by Nefarious because: (no reason given)

Al Bundy!

back when even a shoe salesman could have a house in the burbs, support a family off one paycheck, and have money for the nudie bar!!

now only govt employees can afford those things.
