I have been earing some very intersting things about the use of micro waves to disarm and scatter mobs and crowds of protesters etc.
From what i have seen, the deviceis mouned on a hummer type vehicle or 3/4 ton truck.
It has a square antenna which i asume faces the front when in use.
The antenna looks to be about five or six feet square.
(I may be wrong, but am pretty sure that this antenna looking device is the "Business end " of the weapon.)
On to its effects, we find that it is claimed the skin will feel intensly hot as if one were burning up.
The hat is limited to the surface layer of the epidermis, and the pain is largely from the nerve endings more than actual damage to it.
The results of using the weapon on nearly all of the test subjects has been for them to drop weapons and immediately move to somewhere that the micro waves cannot reach.
(Micro waves are largely line of sight.)which means they wont go around building corners etc.)
Now, on to my real premise which is that perhaps a fifteen hundred watt micro wave could be de shielded and modified to act as if it were a mini of the army version.
Imagine this mounted above a doorway say.
Attcking troops or whatever would be stuck in a narrow hallway under the beam of this burning ray.
(Naturally even a swat team is going o drop weapons and unass the hallway as quickly as possible.)
In terms of a natural guerilla weapon this may be one very valuable piece of equipment for certain applications.
Whil on is running i doubt that anyone could assail a locked door or scale a wall in view of the beam. etc.
This thing i encision would be a kind of electronic ied.
One meely plugs it in, setis it up and flips a switch wwhen appropriate.
stroling by to collect whatever weapons may be laying around after you switch it off.
Now, thats my conjecture, is there anyone with enough math, and science background that can say if it would work, and what mods would be nessessary to make it work?
It would be an ideal entry denial weapon if the SHTF.

I like the way you think Stirling!
It's doable for sure, I mean the Military has done it, so I am sure we can replicate.

It would be just a matter of focusing the MW energy at the correct amplitude and frequency?
You don't want to boil people in their skin

I asked a similar question that you seek now on this thread:

LINK

Bedlam has links to this also as can be seen in my thread.

Good luck and let me know how it works, makes for a great practical joke!

There are Excellent threads with photos already posted here. Look under the term "Non lethal" weapons.
I think Slayer or some other Hero did a thread on this. Otherwise, "google" that.

Any way, as far as disassembling a microwave oven and screwing around with the magnetron, I wouldn't
recommend it. UNLESS you are studied in either electronics/engineering or microwave physics. as you could
easily hurt yourself or those around you, or cause a fire. If you still feel so inclined, you can find experiments
of the nature of your inquiry on the Web or YouTube. Google that. Just remember, "Enter at your own Risk,"
and do not endanger the lives of those around you.

It's a great idea for sure, but hat happens when they cut the power before entry? Or in a SHTF scenario, it would be unlikely that the power grid would still be operable. Goodbye microwave.

You could hook it up to a generator, but any effective generator would be gas powered and located outside. It would be noisy too, SWAT would probably take out your generator once their first wave is repulsed.

Solar panels... would most likely not be able to transmit the necessary wattage for an effective or sustained stream of microwave energy.

If someone thought of a way for the device to be completely autonomous then it would be a force to be reckoned with

How about two honking big twelve volts and an inverter?
I have a 1750 watt inverter so a 1500 watt micro wouldnt overload it theorectically....
Whats maybe needed is the means to focus the beams.
You dont want any blow back....
The shielding must be rearranged to accommodate escape of the microwave in a predetermined direction.
.Ill be back after more digging...trust that Slayer to come up with this idea...heheheh.

I have disassembled a microwave and removed the magnetron.

I constructed a rudimentary "focusing dish" and plugged it in and pointed it at a rabbit in the yard. Not sure if it was coincidence or not but after about 2 minutes, the rabbit bolted across the yard and ran smack dab into the neighbors fence and fell over dead. Pretty sure it was the impact breaking his neck that did it.

These are the kinds of things I do when I am bored. I wonder what it would do mounted on the front of my truck?

here something u can try guys wild blue internet satellite dishes use microwaves and if u put ur hand in front of it will burn ur hand i can verify this from personal experience
edit on 4-4-2011 by pez1975 because: (no reason given)

Yes, Consumertronics has a plan, called "Microwave Oven Bomb".

I gave a speech at a political rally when I was 18 (before I ever heard of Consumertronics), asking people to study the hard sciences so the right kind of people could develop these sorts of things.

Don't play with microwave ovens unless you want to be blind and brain-damaged, by the way.

I think you have it turned around backwards. Try it the other way.

Yeah. Already thought of that, different sort of device and all, but still, what powers it? Going to carry a big power pack on your back? Takes 120 volts to fire.

very interesting, imagine if you could make a portable version of it, like a gun or something that releases the microwaves at people.

home.howstuffworks.com...

talks about how the waves in microwaves work, if thye reflect off of meta at a certain frequency, you could put a type of barrel around them, to sned it forward to an object, with the power you talks about earlier about the power and the heat you may be able to implement these technologies together into a weapon.

a wave guide and enough wattage....plausible....my popcorn will still burn and not get alll popped but the enemy will have a taste of our redneck nuke toy of plausible effective usefulness
