thousands of stars in globular clusters like this one are concentrated into a space that is only about twenty times the distance between our Sun and its nearest stellar neighbour, Alpha Centauri. A significant number of these stars have already evolved into red giants, one of the last stages of a star’s life, and have a yellowish colour in the image.

Isn't space just so fascinating sometimes? I just love how so many things can happen in this universe. What do you guys think about this?

Neato! I'm no astrologist, but could it be the beginning of another "Big Bang?" Imagine the sight! Let alone the info we could gather from such an event.

Simply Amazing, I sometimes wish that light should travel faster so that we can see more of them from our earths night skies with the naked eye

or maybe light speed is perfect as is

I suppose so. At least you understood what I said and now know that I am human, and therefore can make mistakes.

Which, by the way has nothing to do with the topic of this thread because I'm simply a star.... not a whole cluster of them.

Makes you wonder what else we haven't discovered. A huge cluster of stars discovered at a time when some would have you believe our science knows everything. Imagine that.

A big Bang in a already created Universe? Is that possible
Wouldnt that create a huge black hole, destroy this universe as well as create another

Here's a page of many star clusters, some in the Milky Way and at least one in Andromeda Galaxy near by.

Not so certain. Given the size of what we have been able to observe so far and as little we know about our universe, I'm gonna say anything is possible at this point.

We're merely a fertilized egg in one of the countless uterus's of the universe... we are new!

That's what fascinates me even more so. As a childs perception to the world in front of them is so vast, they constantly take in their info with a clear and open mind. Everything as they see it and experience it is new to them, and so they pick it up without bias.

It would be cool to think that we are just being born into a new horizon, that being space and with the same open mind... ready for anything and expecting nothing.

I ran across a fantastic thread yesterday that really put into perspective just how small we are in the whole scheme of things. Just tried to find the link, but to no avail....darn..... It was cool though!

imagine what would happen if all those stars went supernova at the same time, hands down that would be one of the coolest things space could ever give us to bad we will never see that

still great picture and story, everything about the cosmos is interesting because of how little we actually know

we are just now finding out about pulsars, quasars, and magnatars the possiblity of other dimensions or even universes is now being explored we live in a amazing time

My friend was telling me about other dimensions. About how there could be a dimension with everything at a flat level, another one where everything that is, can...if you get that, Like if you could jump..in that dimension you would be jumping..but you could also die, so you would ALSO be dieing...

Some speculative theories have proposed that this universe is but one of a set of disconnected universes, collectively denoted as the multiverse, altering the concept that the universe encompasses everything.[15][73] By definition, there is no possible way for anything in one universe to affect another; if two "universes" could affect one another, they would be part of a single universe. Thus, although some fictional characters travel between parallel fictional "universes", this is, strictly speaking, an incorrect usage of the term universe. The disconnected universes are conceived as being physical, in the sense that each should have its own space and time, its own matter and energy, and its own physical laws — that also challenges the definition of parallelity as these universes don't exist synchronously (since they have their own time) or in a geometrically parallel way (since there's no interpretable relation between spatial positions of the different universes). Such physically disconnected universes should be distinguished from the metaphysical conception of alternate planes of consciousness, which are not thought to be physical places and are connected through the flow of information. The concept of a multiverse of disconnected universes is very old; for example, Bishop Étienne Tempier of Paris ruled in 1277 that God could create as many universes as he saw fit, a question that was being hotly debated by the French theologians.[74]

There are two scientific senses in which multiple universes are discussed. First, disconnected spacetime continua may exist; presumably, all forms of matter and energy are confined to one universe and cannot "tunnel" between them. An example of such a theory is the chaotic inflation model of the early universe.[75] Second, according to the many-worlds hypothesis, a parallel universe is born with every quantum measurement; the universe "forks" into parallel copies, each one corresponding to a different outcome of the quantum measurement. However, both senses of the term "multiverse" are speculative and may be considered unscientific; no known experimental test in one universe could reveal the existence or properties of another non-interacting universe

en.wikipedia.org...

how awesome would it be if the multiverse theory was true, saying that there could be a infinite amount universes where anything could happen

think about this to, imagine if every galaxy there is was infact its our litte universe, think about it
