If God, Christ, Muhamed, Buddah etc... showed up one day in a space craft and most of the religious texts proved true would you continue to follow him or them as your god? What if we were placed here by aliens all most of the religous text turned out to be mostly true how would you react?

Non believers would you begin to follow or dismiss them even if they could make a case for being our creators? How would you handle such a revelation?

Believers, would you continue to follow them even if you found out they were just extremely advanced species rather than magical out of no where gods?

What if they did it all the way they did to guide our race along to maturity after creating us?

Would it deminish your beliefs or justify them?

What if they can truely bring the dead back and allow us all to live forever if we just embrace peace?

I guess I would follow them if they could prove to me they are who they say they are. I still do not think worship would be something I could do but I would not mind following their leadership if it meant peace and advancement of humanity.

Depends on if they/he/she was WORTH following. Why wouldnt everyone follow them if the are offering utopia and immortality?

I would say "Hello, all. You have one hell of a job ahead of you," & continue my way down the road. I don't praise any gods, but I know my place in this Universe. I know not to harm anyone & to love everyone. I also know the moral codes that were sent to tame us. So, therefor, I would let them fix everyone, maybe even teach me a few new things, but I wouldn't be subservient to any of them.

Well as it stands now as a believer,,,,,I don't know what God is.
With that said, God could be anything spiritually speaking. But then what does that mean? Who knows.
If God were an alien or a consolidated conscience of alien species long since past now incorporeal, or some universal artificial intelligence that governs everything, the fact that I believe in God changes nothing.

If a species or creature or thing whatever, showed up making such a claim they would have to prove to me they were who they said they were. If they or it or whatever, has the power to physically alter the fabric of the universe, or stop it's ultimate destruction due to possible aging by way of some unfathomable technology then the term God is a suitable name I suppose.
I could go on and on on this since I considerate often.
Ultimately it would not really change my faith at all so long as this same entity was everything it said it was since the beginning.

The same "god" destroyed one of the greatest cities human beings ever created. It was called Babylon where everyone could understand each other and there was no language barrier.

I already believe "god" is an alien, its really not that hard to understand...

I will leave you with a question, If you can't trust your own species (look at the world and tell me you can), what makes you think you can trust a completely different species?

I would never follow blindly. Should they prove that they hold good values that match my own I will join them. Until then I support logic, science, and atheism.

It doesn't matter if they are aliens, or other worldy beings.

I would command such things to go away. The human race would'nt be able to handle anything like an immortal utopia. ?Why. Because, for example, a utopia means to me the death of human spirit. I like this planet and its humans just as they are. If some kind of super alien race showed up I would pack my bags and go live deep in an isolated forest or jungle.

So out of curiosity you are against a post scarcity society?
If you lived in a society where literally nothing was lacking in anyway shape or form, this would bother you?
Personally I think it would be kind of nice but that's just me.
By the way no need to die either unless one just really wanted to.

First thing I would do is scan the area for a projection device.

Buddha was in fact a man of this earth who apparently achieved enlightenment through meditation and the practice and application of spiritual principles to his life and towards the lives of those whom he came in contact with. It is a spiritual practice based highly around symbolism of other human beings, animals and colors.

en.wikipedia.org...

Muhammad was also human. And basically used his claim as a "prophet" who spoke personally with God to create an entourage of people whom he deemed Muslims...

en.wikipedia.org...

Then there's Jesus.... another human on this Earth who spoke a good enough game to create a following. This following decided to create translated scripture about his life, some time after he had left our Earth. For he claimed (probably out of fear of actually letting some people down) that he was in fact the Son of this God, born unto the Virgin adulteress, Mary Magdalen.

At some point you would think that people would be able to go with their hunches and piece together the fact that they just MIGHT have been being lied too, in some way shape or form.... but no....for it is only human nature to want to believe that there is hope, and to have faith in that HOPE means not to question it and to do as your told.

Then there's this God guy....being, entity, whichever people choose to call him, it or the idea of such a thing. Who's met THAT GUY??

I could walk into a sanctuary today and claim to have seen the light... and about 60% of the people that go to that sanctuary would believe me and hope that someday they...could truly do the same. The other 40% are just acting as if to fit in anyway, so they're still on the fence about actually believing me.OR I could walk into the local grocery store and pant with excitement about the very same thing, and I would be avoided....as if I were the Elephant man with a 10' wart on my nose. (actually sounds like a fun idea!

Point is, I'd definitely be lookin for the debunk button on that one.

This thread should provoke some interesting views. S&F and Cheers to you my friend!

If God came back and I knew for certain it was real you can bet your booty I would follow Him.

If it were not for God I believe I would be dead or in prison.

If it were required that I worship him even more than I do now I would stay on my knees forever.
He has done so much for me I can never pay Him back except to share His Word and worship Him.

I am a child of God and I would folllow Him anywhere, any time and any place.

Praise God.

Utopian ideals bother me because of its lack of substance. By this I mean ?if nothing was lacking then what would the human spirit strive for. Nature, as humans are a part of, would soon reject such notions of everlasting peace and tranquility. Then another war would follow and the whole cycle would begin again. It's a myth, a fairy story for children. I am not seduced by such notions of higher beings helping the human race.

If this proved to be the case i would not "FOLLOW THEIR LEADERSHIP", but rather LISTEN TO THEIR MENTORSHIP. Now, why did i say that? A truly benevolent ET race would not want you to FOLLOW them but rather HOPE that you would consider some of their suggestions if you have asked for them in the first place.

Otherwise, i do not think that there is something GREATER than us - there are only things that are DIFFERENT from us......

Good question anyway...

Well I dont think "god" would show up in a spaceship..

You have alot of questions there.

I would Never Worship. There is no reason to worship. There is a universal law (IMO) that you are just here and there.. you think that ONE personality (entity, alien) will require you to look up to IT or Bow down to IT? If so then He/She/IT could have dont that from square ONE !!

Space craft coming in..and some aliens saying " um..time to leave..you guys are fooked by your own doing..come with us and we Might be able to help you" .. Yea Im first in line
..

But if its a Forced " get on the plank to the ship " I will gladly say no I think Ill stay here..

I understand your sentiments completely, though I think to some potential beings they may be extremely archaic views. After all as our dreams are the sum of our daily lives, so also is a Utopian society the sum of "Human" achievement. Everything people strive and die for has an ultimate goal. I say human achievement and leave out the God ideal only because I do not know by what means such a Utopian form of existence would come to into being.

It is reasonable to say in my opinion that because such ideas are at the moment vastly beyond our reckoning that if God is the means by which such things are achieved, then it it is by human achievement that as followers of a God/ enlightened being/ alien / whatever, that we gain paradise, in whatever form it takes. Are these ideas "mythical"? I don't know, however legendary they may be.

All that being said, I hope you understand i was only wanting you to expound on your views more so I could understand your reasoning better. Now I do, thanks, star for you.

If God shows up?... If God shows up? I'm sorry to burst your bubble but there is no if. God will show up! I believe the Bible is the complete word of God. Jesus Christ said " Behold I go to prepare a place for you, and if I go to prepare a place for you I will "come again" and recive you to myself, that where I am there you maybe also." Plus there isn't much you can do once He does come. Anyone who denies or ridicules that belief only succeeds in confirming what Jesus spoke about "mockers and scoffers in the last days saying where is the promise of His coming?"Also He said "as it where in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of man". Let us pray mightly unto God that He be merciful to us and to count us worthy to escape the destruction that is to come.

Agree with every thing you said. If God shows up? As far as Im' concerened he has always been here.
Sorry if you missed Him the first time. When He comes back the second time you can personally give
Him a big hello! It all comes down to what you belief system is, and frankly I dont care what you believe
or dont believe in.Never argue about religion or politics.

Greetings to you, Xeven. In answer to the question posed, I myself came to that very realization many years ago. I have had a being appear to me in stark relief, claiming to be God, and demanding my devotion and worship, and for me to bow down to them. On two occasions that has happened to me. Both times I questioned them, not taking anything at pure face value. both admitted under questioning that they were in fact Annunaki, those who posed as Gods in the Time Before. Now I know that the Annunaki created these corporal carbon based human receptacles for our Divine Spirits to reside in, and have no real problem with that, but that does not make them my Lord, or my Master. I am a Sovereign Spirit. I bow down to no man, or God, I follow not the ways of any God figure, and I do not place the God stamp upon any man, nor do I see any man as God's personal representative or mouthpiece. My Spirit is strong, not weak. I do not really understand why humankind must have a God figure above them, judging them, and calling them all sinners and such, and killing people for not bowing down to them.
