We have all been conditioned to think a certain way by our so called ruling powers, 1000's of years of conditioning that has taught us how to think, how to eat and how to live is in our minds passed down from human to human ever since some neanderthol thought hed figured out a "better way" of doing things.

You have been told how to Eat.
told how to walk,
told how to speak,
told how to act,
told how to conform,
told how to learn,
told how to type,
told how to breath
how to love
how to argue
how to think

and if you dont conform to the these ways of thinking you are punished by the Bullies in thier many forms.
I pose the question, are we really in control of the way that we think, Or have we become mindless machines that are merely conforming to the mass of conditioning in our brains, i type in this language in this way because this is what ive been told to do and the way i have been taught to do it.
I was taught in school how to think and philosophize and thats exactly what i am doing, i am conforming to the way of thinking that i chose to be imposed upon me an the thinking that i could be someone different, that i HAD a choice of what i became.
I suppose i do have a choice but nothing unique nothing that others have not experienced.
We are all just conforming to a pre-arranged way of thinking that has fermented over the years and become the "modern" way of thinking.
I am not me you are not you, we are a series of rules, regulations and lessons. We are no longer in controll.

Your logic is merely conditioned also,

How did you know that you can stop eating or stop breathing? Because your mind has been taught to know this, you can do whatever you like but it doesnt mean that the past hasnt influenced you to think "i can do what i like" the mere words in your head as you think up your response to my post is proof that you think in a certain way, the way you have been programmed by the poeple around you

This is true with two views. There is the plantation owner (PTB) and the slaves (the masses).

Owners:
From birth you are conditioned to believe it is up to your family to run the world. Could be God given, could be entitled, could be a noble charge. This is why the story of the Buddha should be significant to us. The Buddha was conditioned and charged with becoming a king and a ruler. He however left that life to find his true purpose. Owners believe only in the manifest and cannot comprehend that it wont matter in 100 years.

Slaves:
Back when societies became densely populated and religion started losing its grasp then schools were invented. The first 10 years or so you are told what to do, when to do it, where to be, when to be, etc; You are indoctrinated into the system. Your education is conditioning and you placed on a track where your level of conditioning will be best utilized (manager, teacher, laborer, murderer) In the west, you are told you are an individual with freedom while doing exactly what everyone else is doing. School or work and consumption based activities.

Anyways, I ramble on. You are 100% correct.

What folks believe is possible is a limitation of the software that has been installed in them (filters, beliefs, experience, etc)

No one thing really is in control. You shouldn't see rules as a hindrance, but as a scaffolding for society to make themselves greater than their current state.

If group think is unnatural, then so was tool making, god worshiping, agriculture, and animal domestication.

Exactly my point, i suppose i should mention the fact that i agree that this is no bad thing that we are been conditioned into a greater society, i was merely pointing out that we are purely products of past and present influence and that free thought really isnt "free" because of this

Think outside the box.. Literally, Sounds simple enough to do right.? Hell, it has kept me alive for the past 28 years.

Just remember, Fear is the only god on the TV.. And home schooling prevents, young men, and women's brains from turning to mush..

Avoid the mainstream!..

Love,Live,Give.. And everything in between all falls into place..

I think instead of saying "our minds think unnaturally", it would be better to say "our minds think supernaturally".

In all honesty i thought the same thing, but then the thought came to me that if humans didnt have the abilty to learn or teach others then we would not have become what we have, it just depends whether our very ability to come up with such terms as "i think therefore i am" is infact natural or Un-natural and was never supposed to happen.

You know like the whole "tree of knowledge" story in the bible, were we ever supposed to have eaten the fruit?
Im talking in a theoretical sense not a literal one as i consider the bible to be intellegent tripe

Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone else's opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.
- Oscar Wilde

The nature versus nurture debate has been going on for millennia now, and even with all of the scientific breakthroughs of recent decades (especially in genetics) the debate still rages on.

I certainly don't think that we are born as a "blank slate" and that nurture is wholly responsible, I think evolution tells us otherwise. But yes, we all succumb to "memes" during our lifetimes. However, stating that we cant think for ourselves isn't exactly fair and you make it sound like a bad thing, which of course it isn't. As Isaac Newton once said; "If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants." And so not all of these "influences" are negative.

Which is why I disagree with Ralph Waldo Emerson when he stated that “Imitation is suicide.” After all, where would we be if we never learnt or copied from one another?

Still mindless organisms floating around in the primordial ooze, no doubt.

Rage against the machine, is far from off topic..

If only ATS was not censored.. My original signature was the lyrics from freedom.. Had to take it down for odious reasons..

Edit to add: when I was a young man i went to quite a few rage shows, And had quite a few broken noses, and black eyes.. from the pit..

The nights always ended the same.. Lost somewhere in the middle of Boston, trying to find a way back to my house..or trying to track down my already broken cell phone..

What i wouldn't give to be young again..

Eating is instinctive; animals don't get taught how to eat, they just do it. (I am aware that some animals, like lions for example, teach their cubs how to hunt, quite a lot of animals do not).

Breathing is an automatic/non-conscious process (you don't have to think about breathing when you're asleep, your brain just does it for you). Also, how would a baby be taught to breathe within seconds of being born?

I am in contact with something otherworldly and they hear everything i think
I suspect every thought and action is under control of some sort nice post..
One Fine Afternoon ...while day dreaming about an invisability belt and walking through walls
my ufo freinds flew this orange craft through orions belt at twilight
two hours later ... the connection was starteling and obvious
