Just thought that I'd spread a little good news and being a Soccer fan I thought this was a good Story. As stated above Japans National team and a select group of players from the J-League took time to play a charity match over this past Tuesday the 29th in Osaka not Tokyo as stated above to raise money for their fellow country men. The Article above said that 40,000 tickets were sold in less than an hour and a total of 115,000 pounds or $213,492 was raised over three days.

I think that its great that in these times that many of the national team players left their club teams (as many of them play in foreign leagues, while The Japanese League has suspended operations for an undetermined time) and salaries to go and play a charity match for a great cause. Not much more I can say just trying to spread a little cheer.

That is all

This is a good thing for Japan. Sports have a way of distracting people from trouble in their daily lives. Looking back to our own national experience with 9/11, when football and baseball came back a week or two later it helped everyone and was a welcome diversion from the confusion and suffering — especially in NY. Obviously the Japan disaster is ongoing, but it's good for people to have something besides the disaster and nuclear issues to think about for a little while.
