Let's start a discussion about what each member of ATS would do if we somehow found out how to travel back or forward in time.

The question isn't the only answer I am looking for though, please include why you pick this moment in time and what you would do while you were there.

Here is the question in it's entirety. If you had the chance to go either forward or backward in time, when in time would you go and why? You are allowed to take 1 item with you from the present time.

I will start by saying I will go backwards in time to December 1970. I would take back with me my wallet as my item with $50,000 cash in it. I would then purchase $50,000 worth of gold, which gold was approx. $50 an ounce back then which means I would purchase 1,000 ounces of gold and come back to today. Now I sell my gold in today's market for around $1,500,000. This way I can invest my money and live comfortable and not have to worry about money like the rest of the world.

I would also like to go forward in time with nothing but a binder that included paper and pens inside. I would take notes on what is worth money in the future and invest in those items now for when that time would come.

I would like to hear what is on your mind about this.

Time doesn't exist, clocks exist.
Get on a plane in California and travel east, by the time you reach Maine, you've technically traveled in time to the future. It's all nonsense, and if time travel was possible, the elite already used it to conquer humanity, which is why we have to pay taxes and work like slaves, then retire, then die 3 months later.

Man buzzkill, try to have some fun with it. Pretend it does exist, just for the fun of hearing what people would do.

OK, didn't mean to buzzkill your thread man.

I'd go back to the moment that the Annunaki arrived on Earth, I'd sneak up to their flying pyramid ship, and pour sugar in their gas tanks! That'll teach them not to mess with us talking monkeys!

Can I take a few trips?

1. I'd go and see the pyramids getting built and find out what they were for.

2. I'd go and watch some Neanderthals

3. I'd go and see Gobekli tepe when it was in use

4. Go to a Doors concert.

5. Meet Cassanova

6. Pop to Easter Island and see what the hell they were up to

7. Go to Ur and see what the Sumerian's were like and what they used the batteries for.

8. Go and watch a Trex hunting

9. Stand my ground and keep the house my ex took

10. go to Whitechappel in the Autumn of 1888 and find out once and for all who Jack the Ripper was

Can I go forwards too?

Firstly, I would take everyone I care about with me, so anything I might change wouldn't x out their existence. I would go back to the beginning of the international finance families, and put an end to it, also the royalty and any other despotic governments in Europe, Eastern Europe and America. Then I would use the time machine to see how things developed, and change things as needed to make a world where people could live without being enslaved or massacred, and where knowledge and technology was developed and used with the future generations in mind, not to enrich and empower the few. Also to insure that usury was never allowed, anywhere, nor were atomic or nuclear weapons. Forget the 1 item rule, I would take whatever I needed, sorry.

I would go to the point of the great fall and show brotheren what the fall they are gonna take will do to them for following the dark 1. Then jump to the future to see if they listened then jump completly out of this Dark realm. And tell them thanks because it would of been a waste of time......

I would go forward in time to where we were able to travel vast distances efficiently and my first stop would be a white dwarf star in the constellation of Centaurus, next to the Southern Cross, has been found to have a 3000-kilometre-wide core of crystallised carbon, or diamond.
With technology to harvest a large enough 'chunk' would proceed back in time to say the late 60's (it seems like a cool time to party up then). And as long as I hide the fact that I controlled a surplus of diamonds the market would remain stable and I would become rich beyond belief and buy as much as possible.
The only problem is being a trillionaire people/governments would become suspicious of my activities in the new millennium and in turn would have to form a black corporation entangled in all aspects of the world economy as to not be overthrown. As they get closer to undermining my power I would have to somehow create a rift between countries to occupy there attention and assets. As a major holder in every vested country it wouldn't matter who would win the wars. I would buy my way politically into the last remaining civilizations and watch and control the world from an anonymous standpoint.

But then again if I could go back and forth whenever I wanted I would probably just bounce around checking out all the cool stuff.

I'd go back in time and kick George Bush in the sack and then go back in time anf buy up all of the Power Ranger toys in the world with my highly inflated U.S. Dollars.

I would also write all of the most popular pop songs before they ever came out so when they hit the top of the charts I can complain about how bad they suck.

See who killed JFK... Watch who really built the pyramids, coral castle. If did that it may alter my life so I'd be very careful. Good Post OP

I'd go back in time and impregnate Eve before Adam did. Then I'd hang around a bit and have a conversation with God and Satan. They seemed to be around far more in those days anyway.

I'm a fan of random. Completely altering human history from the onset will undoubtedly increase the amount of random. What would be interesting is upon returning to my time, being the only human being in existence.

Oops!

If I could go back in time and change something
that had a profound inpact on my life,it would be
this...
I would not have married my first husband! I wish
that I had the strength of character to have had my
baby out of wedlock.I got scared and married a
real jerk. Back in 1974,I was 19 and he was 28.
I was trying to get into the army and he stopped
that.

Well seeing as everything on this earth seems to revolve around religion I'd go back, armed with a video recorder, and film Jesus supposedly turning water into wine for his disciples.

Would bring clarity /realism to peoples thoughts/opinions on religion and would get me so many hits on youtube.
