It's funny how people rule it out being CGI when it is the most logical and simple explanation.
If you are going to say something is not CGI - at least have a decent quality video to back up your view otherwise most 16 year old geeks could slap this together.
I believe in the paranormal - but sticking up for crappy low quality video's that are easily faked does not help you prove any point.

With today's tehcnology a good CGI fake video reduced to low quality is impossible to distinguish from a real video reduced in quality - if you want to stand up for it, at least show us where you saw a high quality version that lead you to draw a conclusion, otherwise nice uninformed opinon.

Ok I challenge you to "slap" something like this together. Make sure you have bugs or fog in the foreground
so we can see that you manipulated the cgi so well it integrates both like in the video.

Well if it was real, we would know who made it and with which resources, after all the video is on the internet right? and it is proof that something 'out of this world' is down there, so whoever recorded this will surely want all the attention he can get before the mib comes along, right?

if it was filmed for real then it would go up on a place like this not having to worry about keeping quite while the men in black go and investigate

what?

thanks for posting
if u accept its cgi
on the 21st you'll die

what? so we must accept this is real otherwise we will die on the 21, is that a day, a year, a street? a place? what?

If you upload the original file from LL and open up it's properties you will see( LiveLeak-dot-com-fe0a605ae8da-april_fool_gag_by_united_utili) in the file name.
Also it helps to look at the comments on LL for more information that galvanizes this as a prank.
Put it all together and you get a April fools joke ripe for ATS'ers.

OK then....I you look at the clip right near the end where the apparent monster is seen peering round the corner at the inspection camera with it's two very luminous eyes.....where is it's reflection in the water? There is none.

BTW CGI IMO TOO OK?

Any video that looks remotely realistic could be CGI these days. That's why it's not enough to just say 'It's CGI' and leave it at that. If you believe it's CGI then tell us why.

I tend to think it's fake, but it's not enough to just say 'CGI'

A utility company in the UK created the April Fools joke: "We unleashed a monster beneath the sewers of the North West, in an online April Fools stunt to highlight the perils of flushing rubbish such as baby wipes and cotton buds down the loo."

www.unitedutilities.com...

If it looks like CGI, it probably is.

Check out the water on the floor around the 40 second mark. There are no rippIes or transfer of energy from the machine moving forward as there should be when you move around in the water. I'd say fake.

That Utility company looks way more fun than my utility provider!

There can be no more doubt this is CGI I mean it is an admitted AFD hoax!

I can't help but put on my super paranoid hat (Yes it is made of tinfoil and has some oldschool giant Capacitors on it) What if this was real footage captured on their CC tv which was leaked? In order to hid the truth it was quickly incorporated into a pre-existing what not to flush campaign which already incorporated toilet monsters. Even better they prepped the campaign for just such an incident... This could be big people!

Actually the logical assessment would be that it "may be real or it may be faked". Absence of information one way or another does not prove anything one way or another. All we have is an interesting video. It would be foolish to engage in intellectual dialogue regarding the discovery of this "new" species; as well as it would be foolish to offhandedly claim it to be a fake without further evidence.

Reasonableness is based upon what people are used to. Back in the Middle Ages all the way up to the Colonial era it was reasonable to burn men and women at the stake based upon culturally acceptable practices that the reason-ability of those era's was based upon. Which leads one to the conclusion that reasonableness is an oxymoron as it is not reasonable in of itself.

The only way to gauge which is more likely(real or unreal) is not the shock effect it has on us because it is so strange and different, but the source. Who filmed it, what location was it filmed at?

It is obvious from the video that it is a remote controlled maintenance camera. And look at what the person who posted the video has done thus far: www.liveleak.com... , I doubt it is an April fools joke.

A brief personnel investigation lead me to believe this was shot in the sewers of Ashton-Under-Lyne(Granted it is close to a straw man type thing, couldn't find any street named Reyner anywhere else.). And the Greater Manchester Waste Disposal Authority does use those camera's, and some of the sewer work reflects the era when the sewers where constructed(1825 was start date I believe).

I can't make out all the symbols in the top right and even if I could it is probably industry related jargon info(info useless to anyone outside that particular industry). If someone could find that out and correctly interpret, and if those on ATS that live in that region could contact the Manchester Waste Disposal Authority to at least rule them out. Maybe it would be possible to figure it out one way or another.

I wonder what company they sub-contracted this too. How much did it cost? I imagine it couldn't be cheap. Either way if this is a hoax some one in the UK should file a complaint(dishonesty, fraud, public endangerment[boy who cried wolf]).

I seriously doubt this was expensive. It was probably one of their IT guys they already have on staff judging by the quality. The YouTube version at 54 seconds (maybe the same on Live Leak not sure) you can tell beyond a shadow of a doubt that this is either CGI or a non physical entity. Either way for a frame the creature is only half a body.

Now all things being equal this was what I consider a good April Fools day prank. Outlandish and easily shown to be a fake.

Now I know many people here want to believe so bad they are dismissing obvious bad CGI as an unknown. And if it was good CGI where the environment was effected (IE water ripples where the creature was) articulation that mimics real biology (This thing looks like Gumby's evil brother) and the overall quality of animation was high (In slow motion it skips and is missing pieces in various frames) then maybe we could shake our fingers at them. But not only was the CGI obvious it was also released on 4/1. I say good show Utility company! Wish there were more like them. This world needs more people who can take it lightly and have a good laugh.

Anyway I thought Google's annual 4/1 product release was better than this.
