Wal-Mart CEO Bill Simon expects inflation "inflation is "going to be serious," Wal-Mart U.S. CEO Bill Simon said during a meeting with USA TODAY's editorial board. "We're seeing cost increases starting to come through at a pretty rapid rate."

Fed Official Sees Rates Inching Up This Year..The president of the Minneapolis Federal Reserve Bank said Thursday the Fed may need to increase short-term interest rates by year's end if underlying inflation rises as he anticipates.

In a interview, Narayana Kocherlakota said he expected "a big upward movement" in core inflation—inflation excluding volatile food and energy prices—from about 0.8% late last year to about 1.3% by year-end.

As a result, he said, it's "certainly possible" the Fed's target for short-term interest rates, now near zero, would be lifted by more than half a percentage point late this year.""

From what I understand, Inflation is much like a thin guy who progressively gets fatter at a rate so slow that he convinces himself next year that he will start exercising. But by then he has decided that next year would be a little more convenient for him. At this point he is in such denial and hanging on to that last Lynnard Skynard T-Shirt that he just barely fits in to.

it means pay up sucker. it also means an all out attack on the middle class. the dim mak, death blow, to finish off all the freeloading, internet surfing trouble makings with just enough money and time to actually question the powers that be.

if you can afford a plasma t.v. and an ipad, without credit, you're telling the federal bank that you have too much money.

hence inflation to bring you down to a more manageable and controllable level.

now avert your eyes, cower in insignificance and slowly bow away, so next week milk isn't $14 a gallon and $9 for a loaf of wonder bread.

inflation will kill us...many out of work now, many more on the edge. higher prices to the consumer will mean less spending..which will mean that the MANY buisnesses that are just hanging on....will fail. more citezens without a job. mean while the government continues to sway wider and wider, almost to the point of financial tip-over. when the government checks quit flowing.......wow!!!

My last 6 jobs have closed down on me. Each time I am in the process of getting a new one, a month is added in time waiting. Last time it took me 3 months. This time I expect 4 months. I live in New York, my savings may not last that long. Unemployment doesn't even get my rent or food payed for....

This is the quarter (fiscal) that everone has been warning about.

It is going to be insane, real hard. If you can hang on until wages catch up you will see housing be a much lower percentage of your income, but be forwarned that you will see food significantly higher.

Remember them boys that won WW2? They were lean.

Being hungry from time to time compared to being able to buy a candy bar or a $3.00 coffee any time you want is not the healthiest lifestyle.

It could be positive for the characature of the nation if we work together instead of constantly fighting. The problem is people have alientated themselves from families and communites have yet to build again, but will due to what the price of gas will be and you have to walk to the store.

Stay positive.

Check this thread out, it was posted on another part of ATS already. Seems like we have tough times ahead for us. Let's all stay vigilant though.

But wages will not catch up - they will stay same.

We have turned back into a third word country - with a small number of very wealthy and a large number of poor.

I have read on this site many times the same people who state that the wages wont catch up on one thread and trash unions on another thread. (not you)

People don't ask themselves how can I join a union and make what they make. They say that unions don't deserve what they make for a wage, because I only make............

Love em or hate em unions have made wages go up for years. If a union in Kmart gets 15hr you can guarantee that WalMart will go up in wages or they wont have enough workers.

The wildcard is that there was never any enforcement of immigration from either party which is where these places found the low wage workers.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

Do you live in the United States of 2011?

When the chips are down people are going to tear each other apart. Get a gun if you don't have one already.
