Hey everyone. This is just a story I made up, I hope its not too lengthy for anyone to read. Please advise me if it is. Oh and Constructive Criticism
is much appreciated. I hope you all enjoy it.
Booleus On The Run
BANG! BANG! The pistols went as Hilbert hid behind the wall. With his heart pounding a hundred miles an hour, he knew that he was in danger. Up the
stairs he ran, along with the unknown men who were chasing him, to the second last floor of the facility. “Give it to us! Give it to us now!” one
of the men yelled. Hilbert ignored the call and went for the door to the second last floor and managed to lock it down using a keypad. Although he did
not have long to cause this diversion, as hacking and disarming a keypad was no big issue. He was in that floor for almost 7 minutes until the men
managed to open the door. Up Hilbert ran to the top floor, and, standing on the ledge, waiting no longer for the men to arrive, took his last leap of
faith.
The following morning, as Arnold was drinking his coffee, he received a phone call from the police.
Police: “Is this Dr. Arnold Booleus?”
Arnold: “Yes, what seems to be the problem?.”
Police: “There is no easy way to say this. We have discovered the body of a man believed to be your father. I’m sorry, son.”
What could Arnold do? How on earth could this have happened? Ever since he was 4 years old, his father was his only parent. Absorbed by the absolute
shock of this, he remained speechless.
Officer Frank: “Scan these fingerprints.”
Something did not seem right.
Officer Frank: “Scan it again.”
The result stayed the same.
Officer Frank: “This can’t be right! It’s not possible!”
A third scan proved the exact same results.
Officer Frank: “This is officer Frank; we believe we have evidence of a possible suspect in the murder of Hilbert Booleus.”
Sergeant Donald: “Officer Frank, this is Sergeant Donald; who is the suspect?”
Arnold could not believe it. His life’s education was inspired by his father’s influence. A doctorate in astrophysics; what more could a scientist
want? Without his father, he would have never obtained this level of education. Suddenly, the sounds of very loud sirens were heard and were
approaching Arnold’s house.
Arnold: “What’s all this then?”
Unexpectedly, the phone rang
.
Chris: “Arnold, it’s Chris. There is no time to explain, but you have to get out of your house now! The police have come to arrest you!”
Arnold: “What?! Why? What have I done wro-“
Chris: “JUST GET OUT OF THE HOUSE ARNOLD!! NOW!!”
Arnold looked out the window again, only to see the front of his house blocked by the police.
Police: “Open up! This is the police!”
Arnold desperately searched for an escape.
“The back door!” Arnold thought.
But he wouldn’t get away that easily. Little did he know that the police had surrounded his house.
Police: “Open the door now! This is your last warning!”
Then Arnold had thought of a good idea; the basement.
He ran down to his basement as fast and as quietly as possible. This was no ordinary basement, it was a ‘hidden’ basement; its entrance was
camouflaged as the wallpaper. BOOM! BOOM! The police smashed down his front and back door and rushed into the house, scanning for signs of Arnold.
Fortunately, Arnold had another strange secret in his basement – an emergency tunnel. Arnold grabbed a torch and a map, and then proceeded into the
tunnel.
After 20 minutes of following the dark path, he arrived at a man hole. He took a glimpse of the world above him. It all seemed clear. So, on he went
to Chris’ house. Upon arrival, he checked in all directions and knocked on the door. Chris answers the door.
Chris: “Oh my God, Arnold! Thank goodness you’re safe!”
Arnold: “Chris! Why are the police after me?!”
Chris: “Come in and I will tell you. Were you followed?”
Arnold: “No.”
Booleus sat down on a chair, shaking with a look of shock and fear in his eyes.
Chris: “Arnold, you’re a mess. What the hell happened?”
Arnold: “That’s not important. Now please tell me why the police are after me!”
Chris: “Alright. Arnold do you recall the discovery of the Da Vinci scripts?”
Arnold: “Yes, my father discovered it, what connection does that have to me?”
Chris: “It appears some groups wanted those scripts, but their reasons were limited. They threatened your father to hand them over, or so he’d pay
the consequences. Now the police is after you.”
Arnold: “Are you suggesting I was framed for this murder? This is outrageous! I loved my father! There has got to be a reason behind this. Where did
you obtain this information from?”
Chris: “...... Your father.”
Arnold: “My.. My father? That can’t be! Why didn’t he tell me?”
Chris: “He did not want to put you in danger, Arnold. He asked me to keep this a secret until the time was right.”
Arnold: *sigh*
Chris: “Look Arnold, this is a conspiracy. Why would ‘they’ send death threats to your father in the first place? Let alone actually come to his
facility, attempt to murder him and try to steal back the scripts? It sounds like they don’t want the public to know something... Let me help you
Arnold. Together, we can find the men responsible for your father’s murder and expose this conspiracy.”
Arnold: “.......... Fine. Alright Chris. We can do it. But where on earth do we start investigating?”
Chris: “The facility, Arnold.”
Arnold: “Wait, wait a minute – my father’s facility?? It is a crime scene and I am a wanted suspect. There is no way we can go to the facility.
What are we even going to accomplish there?”
Chris: “Arnold, your father has hidden the Da Vinci scripts in his facility. It is imperative that we find them before unknown forces get
them.”
Arnold: “What do you suggest then, Chris?”
Later that day, Arnold and Chris drive with a low profile and arrive at the facility.
Arnold: “Chris, the place is abundant with police! Are you sure we can do this?”
Chris: “See the policemen walking towards those bathrooms? We need to follow them.”
Arnold and Chris managed to follow the men.
Officer 1: *muffled voice* “HE...Y....ST...O.....P.......”
Officer 2: “HEY! DON’T MO-......”
Chris: “There we go Arnold. Quickly, we need to change into these uniforms, c’mon!”
Arnold: “We don’t have long before these guys are found. Remember, just get the scripts and get out.”
Chris: “Agreed.”
So Arnold and Chris managed to enter the facility with stealth. They observed many forensics specialists and police scattered all over the place.
Quietly they proceeded up the stairs, to the second last floor. Unfortunately, it too had several personnel.
Chris: “Okay, this is the floor. Now we need to find the scrolls.”
Arnold: “We can’t search the place without arousing suspicion.”
Chris: “You find the scrolls, while I take care of these guys.”
Chris marched over to the team of personnel and police. He ‘accidently’ knocked some of the evidence onto the ground. Meanwhile, knew the one
place his father would store the most valuable and crucial items he had discovered – The Vault. This vault was placed especially in a location that
nobody could ponder to find. As he approached the vault, unaware that another mysterious man was watching him, he entered the secret combination,
turned the tumbler, which then it up containing another smaller vault which another combination lock. The man watched him as Arnold was unlocking the
vault, and started tiptoeing towards him.
Arnold: *quietly* “Got it.”
The mysterious man suddenly pulls a gun on Arnold.
Mysterious Man: “HOLD IT!! GIVE ME THOSE ITEMS!!”
Arnold quickly sprinted out of the room, headed down the stairs, while Chris left the personnel and attempted to stop the man.
Officer: “Hey! It’s the suspect! STOP HIM!”
In a few moments, Arnold was surrounded, not completely, by officers with weapons point at him. At that moment, he knew he was done for. Without
evidence of his innocence, he’ll be in prison for life. Chris quickly rushes to the scene.
Chris: “ARNOLD!!! WINDOW!!!”
Arnold knew what he meant. In less than a second, he smashed the window, leapt out of it and fell 2 stories to the ground. Arnold’s legs were
injured, but he managed to keep escaping at a steady pace. He ran for the bushes, and by the time the police came down, he was out of sight. Arnold
thought to himself, who was that mysterious man? And why did he pull a gun on him? Indeed he was a man wearing a police uniform, but he would go as
far as to kill him? Arnold knew he was now a fugitive of his country. He would be searched for by police all the time. The only way they will stop
searching for him is to prove his innocence, but how? He knew he needed more time to investigate, and, in order to do this without any disturbance,
he’ll need to perform an action that will change his life.
Officer 1: “Have you heard about this Arnold Booleus guy? Police are lookin’ for him everywhere!”
Officer 2: “.....”
Officer 1: “Yes? No?”
Officer 2: “Look at that.”
Officer 1: “Looks like there’s a guy on the edge of the roof of that building.”
Officer 2: “Zoom in with your binoculars.”
Officer 1: “I don’t believe this!”
Officer 2: “Who is it?!”
Officer 1: “Arnold Booleus.... Is about to commit suicide!”
Arnold jumps off the building.
Officer 1: “Oh my God... He jumped. Come in, Tango 7! We had a visual on suspect Arnold Booleus, who has just committed suicide! I repeat, Arnold
Booleus has committed suicide!”
Arnold looks down at his carcass from the roof of the building, unseen. He now knows that he is ‘deceased’ as will be reported by the police.
Pseudocide. Was this the right option for Arnold?
He places a disguise on and walks off into the darkness of another building’s roof.
