Get ready for another big one in Japan.

I have been keeping my eye on the USGS Earthquake page, and have started to see an increase in earthquake activity mush the same as prior to the 9.0 one on March 11th. There have been quite a few 6.0+ quakes in the same area as before. I believe that another big one is on the way. Here's the page. Take a look and give me your thoughts on this.

how easy it is to predict a earthquake, when japan is none stop raddled with earthquakes already, try again my friend

I watch this every day, and frankly I see no dfference. -Except maybe there's less EQ's there than usual! Ever since the 11th, there has been 5 and 6 pointers every day.

He's not predicting anything you dumb orcs! He's just saying what he thinks MIGHT happen based on what he has observed, and is still asking other people's thoughts on it. How is this predicting anything? Pay attention before jumping on threads trolling the OPs.

Oh and btw, I don't think there's an earthquake happening anytime soon... Just my opinion though.

prediction is when one thinks something is going to happen before hand!

prediction nouns : forecast, augury, prognostication, divination, projection.

I have a prediction too! There will be a car accident somewhere in the
United States today. You watch, it will happen, I have a feeling.

One thing I have been wondering about is that there have been lots of aftershocks. How long do aftershocks continue for, or was Japan constantly getting hit with these quakes, but it is just getting more attention now because of the 9 that hit. Hope that makes sense.

you need to think out what you call people a little better before calling other posters dumb orcs...not everyone will be as nice as these posters that shoulda said something but didnt...just giving you a heads up is all.....now to the OP those earthquakes havent stopped since the 7.2 on march 9th....they have been an everyday occurance and the 6 pointers have actually been a reaccurring aftershock...its just that the area was hit with that monster so yeah theres gonna be some unrest til the ground settles and again since it was a 9.1 that hit the 5s and 6s are to be expected

It's ok, I take it on the chin a lot here. No, I wasn't making a prediction but rather an observation of what "appears" to be a series of earthquakes "similar" to what happened before the big one in Japan. But I always get debunked, trolled, and beat about by what I call the "jumpers" who come in guns a blazing. But I think you for knowing the difference.

I will say that my title does imply a sense of a repeat in Japan. I should have put a question mark at the end because it is a question.

There are some people on the site that have a lot more information than I. I was just asking because perhaps, we may discover some trends that make earthquakes more likely.

And to the jumpers I will make this one prediction. You'll jump me again. But it's ok, I don't mind at all, after all it is the internet.

The Japan earthquakes are to be expected, based on the 9.0 they had. In fact, an 8 (or 8.1, or 8.8) is still in their relatively near future.

Back to your origonal thoughts on another nine or so quake in the offing, there is some correlating data vis a vis the earths magnetic field and its convulsions befoe such events...

I too tend to be of the opinion its not exactly over for the Japanese islands.
After the niner, there were shocks running down the fault towards a three way junction some ways east of Tkyo, with the intersection under water.
It was theorised that fault was now loaded and ready to pop like the nine did on the 11th mar.
This has not played out fully, and i fear there is more serious stuff in the tubes for us.
In Alaska, and N/S koreas there have been shocks starting up, with Mt Bekku (sic) on the NK/Chinese border showing signs of a renewed eruption being imminent.
This is not a baby volcano, and is a Caldera like yellowstone.
I imagine that the instability of the regions plate techtonics of late,and the earth sky connections comming to the fore in regards to space quakes and the like,Along with possible super moon connections all come into play as causatives.
I think all you can do is monitor the sites available, and try to share any good information as widely as possible.
I understand you were not exactly making a prediction as much as expressing a feeling of forboding regarding this situation?
Take a number and join the line buddy...lots of us are thinking theres more to come....

Just to add that the energy release figures do not suggest anything imminent.

Today there have been 10 sub 5.0 and one 6.2. I don't count the sub fives as they are very small in terms of energy released.

Yeah but PM you can't go by that. Prior to the initial 7.2 that happened before the 9.1, there was no indication either that it was about to go. And it is that precise point that leads me to question how the Japs can say there is no correlation between the recent activity and the Sagami Trough- which has shown activity in this sequence.

So we are dumb for thinking that the OP is predicting a quake. Maybe you need to reread the post again. The caliber of ATS is really starting to slip in my humble opinion.


Also I find it so ironic how you tell others to pay attention. Maybe you should take some of your own advice.

Have to disagree with you there TA. Whilst I don't think anyone could have seen the 9 coming there was a definite up-tick in activity prior to the 9th March which we can see now it has happened.



Since the 9th March the cumulative drops off and that suggests to me that there is nothing imminent.



Whilst I would agree that no one can state categorically that another big one will not occur in the immediate future (say 7 days), I consider this to be a reasonable supposition at present.
