I stand naked in front of a mirror. My body fully exposed. The imperfections shine in the light. I turn away from the sight. For it is not the imperfections with in the mirror I seek out. It those unseen to the eye I search for. I must peel the naked flesh from my body, one layer at a time. Deconstructing my body down to its basic components. The layers of flesh I peel away are tossed unceremoniously to the floor. With no regard or care they are broken of no longer use to me.

I pile the pieces of my broken body up. A lump of clay on a potters wheel awaiting to be reshaped. A formless block of granite awaiting the chisel of a master craftsman to bring life to it. I am tired...but I must continue.

The chisel strikes, the sweat flows upon my brow. It is difficult work. For my work is delicate and precise, each line must be broken straight. A pattern emerging from the dust and chips. The days and months pass, The imperfections erased molded to a new shape. It speaks to me, yearning to be free of the prison that cages it.

A form quietly emerges for the remnants of the old, no longer broken down. Soon, very soon my reconstruction will be complete.

That was great poetry, I appreciate your post, you've got talent.

But while reading it, I wondered why you needed a great artisan to remake yourself, why couldn't you yourself, remake yourself? Maybe, because at certain times in our lives, we all need help?

Anyways, very impressive, you should write a book or something.

Thank you I appreciate the comments. I think you hit the nail on the head. At times in our lives we only see what to ourselves are imperfections. We need someone outside of our self to see that we are truly masterpieces.

I appreciate your intelligence and insight. Sometimes we do need to remake ourselves, examine ourselves, grow ourselves. But is that need, a result of spiritual growth, or a lack of the tolerance of others?

I think that maybe few people will respond to your post, which is a shame, because, it is a mirror to ourselves.

Why are we here? Where are we going? What shall we do while we are here? These are the important questions of life.

I look forward to more of your posts.

Those are the questions I have spent a life time searching for answers too. Perhaps someday I will stumble upon them. Maybe it is not about finding the answers, maybe it is about who you become while searching for the answers?

To me it almost sounds like one of the many ceremonies that ancient cultures and native people's use around the world when they take hallucinogenic substances...They describe it as a "shattering of the ego" and a "cracking open of the mind" in which the pieces are then collected and reassembled and polished into a shiny new stone (the ego). Don't know if that's what you were going for, but that's what it reminded me of. Thanks for sharing.
