I think the OP answered their own question with the link and quote provided....

I guess the only good thing this thread points out is that most posters don't read the OP before they reply, even after this was pointed out, twice...

The images posted by Gizmodo are a combination of visible and near-infrared wavelengths, so they show the Earth in a way not visible to human eyes (vegetation looks red, for example).

what is it with you people assuming I might be talking about a conspiracy? is this the general conspiracies section? No, I asked to move this thread because it had no Aliens in it, and now you guys want it to be moved to the conspiracy section for no reason? Visit the link, the title of the article is the same as the thread, and I used it just because, there is no conspiracy intended... jeez

I'll say asking why they look different than NASA on a conspiracy site leads one to believe you are suggesting a conspiracy of some sort is afoot.

Basically, you have poor reading comprehension is what you are saying. If you would have read the article, or the piece you so nicely quoted, the thread would be useless cause you would understand your question, and not have the need to ask it.

So either you're trolling, have poor reading comprehension, or were suggesting conspiracy and are now trying to save face.

Seriously the rudeness of people in here is unbearable sometimes.

You take offense way too easily. This guy was not being rude. If you are being unclear and obtuse, which you were, people can legitimnately ask you for clarification. As has been shown by a number of people, there really is no mystery here.

Having said that, thanks for posting the pictures. They really are quite beautiful.

So is the OP going to clarify what it is being implied with the purpose of starting this thread? Maybe people wouldn't be so implied rude if one just comes out and states what is being implied. If you understand the difference why start a thread with a question?

The author of the article is comparing real photos with NASA's Blue Marble simulated imagery of the Earth's many specific features, including real color, imagery through the clouds (clouds erased from the surface imagery), and a myriad of various sensor derived artificially colored imagery. You'd do yourself a favor if you poked around NASA's Blue Marble website and check it out.
