Comet Honda & Elenin....

I wonder if the trajectory of Elenin could change if it travels through the tail of Honda?

I'm very surprised that more people haven't been talking about this....I find that on August 18 2011 this year it seems like comet honda is right on top of us...granted it says its .077 au away but im not soooo sure how accurate they are on this. One thing for sure this summer is going to be very interesting.

I wish they would come out and tell us if something is going to seriously happen and give us this time to prepare instead of making people guess, etc.....

elenin stands for near extinction meteor event, and honda is hitting earth, i wonder?...

Ah comet Honda, you bring back old memories

I had started a thread about it back in 2006 when I saw it on the solar system viewer. There are numerous people who chimed in with some pretty good explanations on distance and impact probabilities. I don't think it will be causing us any problems, I've been sleeping better since then

August 18, 2011 is also the time of a planetary alignment between the Earth, Mercury, Venus and the Sun...

I like how everyone queues up for the doom and gloom posts, but conveniently ignore the only post in this thread that has some fact to it. You're talking about comets that are less than 6 miles across each (round about, recalling off the top of my head from previous research). Neither one has enough mass to affect the Earth in any way (short of hitting us). They won't cause earthquakes, tsunamis, or even a decent burst in the northern lights. It will be really nice to see them in the sky for a week or two, some cult of idiots will off themselves, and then life will continue on as it does everyday. Come one folks, do a little research before you start claiming the sky is falling.

Er, on October 28, 2011 the 2 comets are NO WHERE near Earth or each other.

As above so below....The very psychological ripple which spreads from such speculations can have a much more marked difference in life as we know it than the event which follows......

Looks like the summer sky will be a busy place, but lets not loose focus on the immediate.

Looks like we are in for an eventful year of skywatching. I guess anything is possible and the two comets could collide if they have a little help.

Why have I never heard of Minoru Honda? Where are all the TV interviews with him? Clearly he doesn't exist. Honda must be a code for Hot Object Near Death Attack. So now we have to worry about Nibiru and Nibiru Jr.

Who said anything about Oct 28th... it was Oct 18th, but that's not what this thread is about. Honda gets closest on Aug 18th, Passes just in Front of Elenin Sept 17-18th, and Elenin now passes in front of Earth on Oct 11th, 25 days before Earth reaches that point.

Interesting enough, please follow Honda until Feb 14, 2017, if nothing happens to Honda between now and then, we get another close fly by.

In my first post that started this thread I did not mention any dates... but when you do take the information we are close to Honda on August 20th... Nowhere did I say October.... I would put the picture in like you did in your post but I don't know how to do that just yet....

Apophis - N.E.O. near the 12-21-12 date.

For those that don't know about the Apophis comet set to cross paths (well, more like lead earth's) for a few days in 2012, I suggest checking this link out.

I doubt anything will happen, but just the fact that it is SO very close to the 2012 date makes me stop and wonder if this might be the "sign" for the beginning of the end. It should be visible to the naked-eye for a few days leading up to 12-21-12

Don't try to confuse them with the facts, you must be new here, welcome to ATS where we claim to deny ignorance, but in reality it's mostly people denying reality and rational thought.

comets and meteors, unless MASSIVE and CLOSE, have zero impact other than a nice light show if you are lucky to see it. they can't cause earthquakes, or any other randomness.

the objects in question are never going to be close enough to worry about, hell, even Apophis isn't really a concern and it's coming quite close in 28(?)

It would appear that comet 45P/Honda-Mrkos-Pajdusakova will be closest to us on Aug. 18 2011. At 0.0767 AU, which is still 7,129,716.58 miles away. How can it possibly pose a threat? Are there forces in space that can change it's orbital path?
