Interesting, no? Facebook wanting to hire Gibbs. I wonder how Obama feels about this one, Their looking to offer Gibbs about 7 million and stock in the company.

Now don't get me wrong, I loved Gibbs. He is probably the only good thing I liked about the Obama administration.

What are your thoughts on why Facebook would want Gibb's?

Hmmm, in my mind, government goons and social networks mix like oil and water. If it goes through, just one more reason to consider closing up my personal and business page there.

What makes him worth 7 million dollars? He just has a 4 year poli sci degree. How did he get where he is and the earning power he has?

Poli sci is right up there with communications and English as the most worthless degrees unless you plan on teaching or being one of the PhD's earning 24k/year at Barnes and Noble.

He must have crazy dirt on people in high places or something.

Facebook was destined for government absorption from the moment it became a clearing house for personal information. Facebook was never about "privacy" it was about "commerce."

Soon we will see increasing numbers of 'former' Facebook (among others) executives in regulatory and policy-making "politically appointed" government positions.....

Good catch OP!... this may be the revolving door of corporate-government incest in action, on it's first swing.

Dunno, apparently his poli sci degree is worth more than you estimated.

They can only data mine as much as you put out there. Now what I wanna know is when are people gonna start suing these companies for the fair market value of their own personal information?

No, not using their website, and generating them money with my use seems sufficient to me, if that is what I decide to do.....

Glib Gibbs is a perfect addition to Facebook. Now "they" will have an inside man inside the social media universe. Watch what you post if he joins the team especially if you have conservative leanings!!

In all seriousness, the hard left are getting all of their ducks in a row prior to the 2012 election push by putting all the right people in the right places. Gibbs is one of Obama's top advisers and strategists and has been with him for a long time.

I find the coincidence of all of Obama's top henchmen (Rahm, Axlerod and Gibbs) leaving before the Middle East crises and Libya fiasco to be rather unusual. They all left to get into clean air for the big campaign push. I have a good feeling that the 2012 run will make 2008 look like child's play in terms of scope and dollars spent.

This should be fun to watch if the man actually gets the job.

Believe it or not, I actually agree with you on this issue. I surprised that this has not happened yet. I made a comment in another thread regarding the routine overuse of special "customer rewards cards" on every major front. Stealthy data mining at its best. Most people only think that they are getting discounts every time they swipe that card. The info gathered has greater value than the discounts handed out. That's why I rarely use the cards and only pay cash when I buy certain items like ammunition and camping/hunting items.
