That sun it still sets
On every single day you tried to steal from me
But it still comes, every day,
long after you have gone
and you haven't been gone all that long,
So, if you could sit and watch where you are,
would the darkness come upon me in your words
or would you remember the light of my eyes,
the light of a child, one who wouldn't hide,
from your darkness, your lies, you held on to so tight...

But my light inside, despite your dark words
helped and forgave your mighty hurts.

Just a child's light in the world
that tried to see past your hateful words

I see how you hung on
to my innocence for your need...

To show you that I was strong,
you couldn't break me and you never did...
