I wrote this a while back and wanted to share it in lieu of what's going on the UK. Note: these lyrics do not advocate violence.

The Real Thing

So I’m back to my axiety,
Perhaps I should get back to xanax and pop the blue pills until I’m outa breath,
Or maybe look at it another way,
And say that my anxiety’s returned to me and pray that it will go away,

But yesterday I woke up with my back hurting,
Cursing this country that’s caused me nothing but hurt blurting,
Profanity yet keeping my mouth closed,
Rhymes occupying my time clouding up my state of mind,

Speech stuttering on the mic trying to flow it,
Feeling good while in pain like I’m a stoic,
And if I were going nuts I wouldn’t know or couldn’t show it,
Complacent with my life sitting hoping I won’t blow it,

Do you feel me? Are you similar in this in that,
We sit back with our feet up and don’t know how act,
Clueless of what we’re wanting just knowing what we don’t,
Knowing we won’t take action until a collapse then,

It’ll be too late so we can’t patiently wait,
Debating what we ain’t while bottling hate,
Time to step to the plate with bricks breaking the gate,
Taking away the power we’re entitled the day is today,

And was yesterday but we ain’t waiting no longer,
We’re committed, inspired, better, faster and stronger,
And more intelligent than ever no more blaming our fathers,
And mothers who either didn’t know or didn’t want to bother,

[hook]
And we’ll storm to the city with all the buildings,
Bringing everything we got time to start the real thing,
Let’s stop the preaching it’s time to let the steel sing,
So follow me to D.C. and we can start the real thing.

So this is my proposal you want to join?
And try and reclaim our rights, power, freedom and joy,
We got nothing to lose so let’s make some noise,
It’s time for us to play everybody bring your toys

And we’ll go to the city with everything we got,
Not stopping to pop the cops we’ll aim at the top,
And stop the convicts who instigating the plot,
Of rotting our brains and teaching freedom is not,

Something given by God but something we gotta keep,
By respecting the ones with guns lining the streets,
And if you disagree and think you’re someone above,
It’s to the ministry of love restrained in chains and cuffs,

Have you had enough or are you just too weak,
Do you see the truth and the future as bleak?
Are you really somebody who wants to be obsolete?
Or wanna rise to the occasion with the goal of defeat?

The choice is yours and mine’s as well,
Will we step up only time will tell,
But if you hear it from me in this rhyme then yell,
You can send us to heaven we’re trying to climb from hell!

There was a time when I thought there could be peace on this earth/ I was mistaken, now I see just how the # the world works/ And they say violence aint the answer/but they cover the truth/ the only way to gain control is to suit up our troops/ feed us the soup/ that boils from the heat of a nuke/ leave us to puke and tell us we need pills to recoupe/ they're killin the youth/ minds that seek to find out the truth/ bound to the roof/ we never see what lies in the closet/ empty your wallet/ they're sellin #in lies and we bought it/ from fluoride in your faucet to satellites that fly into orbit/Theres way to many lies to ignore it/ our lives are distorted/ we're force fed and misled by the media/ government ordered/ Its like a poisonous fungus/ that's the way I feel about money/ and if there's terrorist's among us/ they're the ones runnin our country!

I wonder if we can get evry reply to be a rhyme or poem of some sort. Give it a shot

Hi Dave, perhaps you would be so kind as to give attribution to the author of the lyrics you posted.
It is a requirement in posting the work of others here on ATS.
Thanks!

I am the author. Writing rap lyrics is what I learned in high school.

Nice work. It's always good to see a fellow poet who uses their talents in a productive way. I've found writing to be one of the only things I can do to create/work/vent and be totally consumed by what I'm doing.

I normally hate rap songs because of their lyrics, but yours painted a truly profound picture in my head. I can rap, but I prefer a posting a response-poem... which I am working on.^^

Most definitely, God only knows what kind of person I would be if I never picked up a pencil and paper.

I'm changin normal information into inspiration/ through formal conversations/ My brain storms are a form of meditation/ I scorned my education as a youth born with expectations to succeed through dedication/ See, this nation feeds off devastation/ My mind is racin/ confined to the times we're facin/plagued with politically incorrect statements all lost in translation/ we're drifting off course listening to the medias interpretations/ its like we work for reputations but is it worth the aggravation/ misled by fascination of debatin with foreign nations/ engagin in war before creatin solutions to the confrontations/ pollutin our conservations through chemically induced oxidation/ over used transportation/ and the answer doesn't lie in the god damn transit stations/ Think about the reason behind space exploration/ A new age of vacations or just in case the human race is forced to vacate to new locations/ there's no time for waitin/ no time for makin, modifications to our dishonest operations/ My views are frantic but as deep as the Atlantic basin/

I really like that line. Rap lyrics typically are horrible. Honestly, I wish I could play the guitar and be creative in that way. It's kind of just the crowd I grew up with that influenced me to get into rap. I enjoy it though. I used to write lyrics about nonsense, back when I was younger and had everything figured out.

Thank you my friend. How incredible would it be if stuff like that, with meaningful lyrics, would be played on the radio instead of pointless garbage. Maybe one day...

I hear ya man, its all underground. If you haven't heard of him yet, you gotta check out Immortal Technique. You tube it. Dude is by far one of the most logical, openminded lyricists I've ever heard.
Check out the song called "bin laden"
