I've been trying to find information about him, but to no avail. Just people across the internet making jokes about how Obama has competition, so I've decided to ask ATS for help.

Alvin Michael Greene:

  • Democratic party's nominee in the 2010 United States Senate election in South Carolina.
  • In the general election, faced DeMint, Green Party candidate Tom Clements and write-in candidates Nathalie Dupree and Mazie Ferguson
  • Won the primary race against Vic Rawl with 59% of the vote, despite limited campaigning, no website and no yard signs.
  • Graduated from University of South Carolina in 2000 with a degree in political science.
  • United States military veteran who served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force, honorable discharge in 2009.
  • Lives with his father, miles from the nearest city, possessing no cell phone nor internet.
  • Indicted on criminal charges of showing pornographic pictures to an 18-year-old female college student in August 13, 2010.
  • Greene lost to DeMint by a margin of 63% to 28%.
  • Asked the South Caroline Democratic Party how much the filing fee would be to run for President of the United States, after losing the midterm election.
  • Greene's platform: "Let's get South Carolina back to work." He favored lowering the price of gas, supports offshore drilling, a united Korea under a democratic system of government, allowing Bush tax cuts to expire, reform of the financial industry, job creation, increased highway construction projects and pursuit of alternative energy sources. Better school facilities, pay raises for teachers, and "winding down the wars in the Middle East and using that money for domestic programs, such as job creation, education, and Social Security."

Here's where it gets strange though...

When asked about his plans to run for President of the United States, Greene was quoted telling the Columbia Free Times on November 10 that he was "seriously considering" a presidential campaign, although he was not sure for which party he would run. He justified his potential bid by saying "I’m the man. I’m the man. I’m the man. Greene’s the man. I’m the man. I’m the greatest person ever. I was born to be president. I’m the man, I’m the greatest individual ever.”

At one point, he told British newspaper The Guardian that one way to create jobs is to employ people to make "toys of me", Alvin Greene toys.

If that's not strange, take a look at his official Facebook page: www.facebook.com...

Here are two interviews, one with CNN, another with MSNBC (I would add a transcript of these with slow internet connections but it wouldn't do the atmosphere justice):

He received a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of South Carolina in 2000, and served as an intelligence specialist in the U.S. Army, Air Force and the Army National Guard. He received the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal, the Korea Defense Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal. Greene received an honorable but involuntary discharge from the Army in 2009 after a 13 year career and has been unemployed.

Greeene was a U.S. military intelligence specialist with some extremely impressive and interesting awards like the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and National Defense Service Medal. Look at his eyes, he has the same fixed expression all the time. Look at the way he moves nothing like military intelligence. I suspect he may have played some role in 9-11. Greene suffered some type of mental breakdown or his mind has been wiped clean for some reason.

How do go from a college grad and army intelligence officer to a shallow forest gump type supply clerk in So. Korea?

(mindcontrolblackassassins.wordpress.com...)

Greene was also written up for posting sensitive information on a military Internet server, a mistake that resulted in a three-day work stoppage.

So has he always been like this or is this the work of something else?

Should I feel guilty that I laughed my *** off, watching those videos?

I didnt vote this November, as I've stopped caring for politics, but I can't believe I missed this! Read his Facebook, Everybody makes fun of him, and he responds thinking everybody is serious.

DeMint is responsible for the recession!

S+F, good and interesting thread. Honesty I can say I laughed too but I think it is really strange given his credentials that this is how presents himself. All we can do is speculate in that he could have been part of a government experiment, has seen too much, or just simply went through college and intelligence as how he is now. I seriously doubt the latter.

First of all, disregard the list of so-called "medals" he was awarded. Those are just service medals for basically "just showing up."

I am, however, interested in how a demonstrable dimwit can function in any capacity in intelligence work. The only answer I can think of is "tool." Clearly he's been used as a tool for some time, apparently up to and including his run for SC senate.

I must admit, though, that a college degree of any sort--even Political Science--seems like it would be completely beyond his grasp. I don't entirely dismiss the notion that he might have been a brighter bulb at one time and was used up and then dimmed-out by the intelligence services. But it doesn't seem likely when you consider that his high-school nickname was "Turtle"--IF, IN FACT, that is even true. That could easily have been an invention by the interviewer or his research people.

Who knows? Mysteries abound....
