Many today are very unmotivated and disillusioned when it comes to effecting change in their world but I am not. I think that our ideas and voice have a constant pressure upon our culture and societies.

As a harmless experiment, I would like to propose that all ATS members who wish to participate, change all "in" prefixed words to "un" prefixed words and vice versa.

So, incredible would become uncredible, unreasonable would become inreasonable.

There is no pressure to do this, you only do it for fun.

The exchange of prefixes would only be done online, not in the real world.

It could be fun to be part of the original team that creatively "plays with" the constructs that society impresses on us. It would be inbelievable fun if it works!

Mods, if you feel that this fits better in another thread, I'd be happy for you to move it

I'll have a go then even though it will feel like a thorn in my side to do it - uncorrect spelling and grammar is a pet peeve of mine.

There, I did it

And it's killing me.

Are you finding it unconvenient?

You don't have to do it, but thanks anyway.

The idea is to use it in all your posts for a while (even on other boards!). The proof will be if it takes off.

OK, so few takers to date.

I sort of expected to be unindated with takers.

I'll keep on for a while anyhow.

Sorry, I am with DoobyDoll - I just couldn't do it! (Aside from anything else, I teach English online - I could not bring myself to confuse my students.. Good experiment idea though!)

No problems, I fully understand.

I personally read all my posts again just to check my spelling and grammar & it would appear that many people don't (which annoys me slightly, as often they may have a great post that is just so hard to read).

But that is their preference & right.

There are also some words which don't work with the same trick which is also 'unteresting'.

... and I thought that I was being so uncredibly original (beaten to the punch line by Ralph Wiggum)!

It appears that my embiggened opinion of my intellect is cromulently unsufficient.

Oh well, the Simpsons didn't try it on ATS.

Forced meme is forced. You can't create them, they create themselves. They are magical and special.

knowyourmeme.com...

Milhouse is now a meme.

I have stuff unside my head (I am told, never really seen it though).

Hmm... you have found the flaw un my brilliant plan for world domunation. I shall now die of acute embarrasment with my inderware pulled over my head un a type of metaphorical hyper-wedgie.

I liked the idea unitially and thought it would be fun. Still do.

Well, the title of the thread says "Meme Project" not "Un-In Meme Project" so it's only a matter of coming up with something different. It doesn't have to die here.

I agree, however the post is now past the 4 hour limit and will require a Moderator to change the title.

If there is a passing moderator, would you please be so kind as to re-name this thread to: "Un/In Meme Project: mess with the rules, because you can!".
