Like I say I dont know much about Yellowstone
and it could like suggested be spurting water
this activity has gone on for over two hours now ...

Is that normal or is it something else?

Cheers replies

Since nothing is showing up on the Seismo's around the area other than that one, it must be an anomaly. Perhaps noise from a bad connection or the device is malfunctioning.

This link shows all of the stations thumbnails at once and as you can see it is limited to the one station.

Not my area, but I'm guessing it's a technical malfunction.

Old Faithful spews water like every couple of hours, if I recall correctly. I checked days back and NOTHING even close to this shows, like this activity.

Good find, OP!

Hi guys, I generally hang out in the Arkansas thread, and ran this by our team. That particular recorder has known issues. If others around it aren't showing anything then its being qwerky again.

It's not a quake, and checking the other sensors around the immediate vicinity show some noise and some distant quake signals, but that is about all.

YFT is one of the more 'touchier' seismographs in the park. Basically if it happens anywhere in the world and it's a big quake, YFT will show it.

Unless you see similar signals, and at nearly the same time all over the park, it's not a quake or seismic activity.

An' even then you would need to check to see if there were quakes else where that would account for the signals.
