did some research it was a PSE&G plant releasing gasses.

The unexplained “big bang” was heard across the district about 1am on Thursday, April 14. Residents reported the loud, roaring noise shook their houses and windows and set off car alarms while others described colourful flashes or fast-moving lights in the sky.
