A Wells Fargo Bank corporate flight landed at Mitiga Airport, outside Tripoli, hours before the controversial United Nations No-Fly Zone was established, according to an audio recording of radio traffic between the aircraft - identified by tail number N799WW - and the Maltese Civil Aviation Directorate captured by Dutch-based radio scanner FMCNL. The Wells Fargo plane is a long-range corporate jet manufactured by Bombardier and acquired by the bank in 2001, according to FAA records.

It's highly likely they were pulling a few ex-pat employees out of there at their last opportunity. Why they hadn't already gone, I don't know. Seems dumb, but after having worked in the corporate world for a number of years I am often stunned at how kind of stupid a lot of the people I work for - some of the executives - often are.

Maybe they were coming to collect. The article says they handled the insurance for Pan Am.

most likely, anything cargo was highly last minute as the rats leave the sinking ship...but knowing kadaffi, there was nefarious goings on around this plane and its flight...
