Very interesting find Jumpspace
Myself I believe it to be an icy comet. You will notice that it seems to become slightly larger and more elongated as it nears the sun. That could also be the reason that it just suddenly appeared, just another cold rock till the ice started boiling off made it visible.
The anomaly that Sgt. Spotted is so short lived that it must be a compression artifact.
Im not a SOHO groupie but I believe that it orbits the sun and not the earth. No way was the artifact the ISS.
The reaction of the sun was the most interesting. I wonder if this is the reason that the sun has stayed aggravated so long past solar max. Perhaps there has been one comet after another burning in for a while now.

Those have been always there colliding to sun.
It's just that we have been able to detect them only after launch of SOHO.

And about these impacts, do you believe that trains collision to rabbit will cause damage to it... or someone with rowing boat getting overrun by 100 thousand ton carrier?
