Iceland had a lot of that too. At the time I saw the Iceland photos I was the same as you, but after doing some homework apparently this is within the realm of normality. Perhaps it's just the proliferation of digital photography, and the ease of dissemination of it that has made images like this more commonplace.

But yeah, freaky eh.
