Did a search forthis but nothing came up??

Top US Officials: Japan Nuclear Reactor #4 Completely Breached, In Full Meltdown, Releasing Lethal Radiation – US Expands Evacuation Area To 50 Miles.

Top US officials have testified before congress today that situation in Japan has a reached a catastrophe of proportions on par with Chernobyl. Both the Secretary of Energy Steven Chu and Gregory B. Jaczko, the chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission gave dire testimony before the The House Energy and Commerce committee.

At this point both the primary and secondary containment vessels at the Fukushima nuclear reactor #4 are breached. To make matters worse radiation readings taken by the US indicate that the cooling pond is empty indicating which means the fuel rods are in a state of complete meltdown with no cooling to counteract the meltdown in progress.

The latest reports out of Japan are that plant operations have been once again suspended due to the extremely high lethal levels of radiation coming out of the plant. Helicopters that were dumping water and boric acid onto the plant from the air have been called off as well. The news comes on the heels that the US has issued a 50 mile evacuation zone around the plant.

I know this is from a blog but looks very lagit...

The US has ordered evacuation of US citizens from Japan.

Reactor #4 isn't even a live reactor, it was defueld before the earthquake. From my understanding, the problem with #4 is the spent fuel rods.

I really have no idea if the spent fuel rods can go into "meltdown"...but my guess would be no. Then again, I'm not nuclear expert.

UH yes they can, and will. These are if I am right plutonium based one. One particle means death

I just heard USA has authorized evacuation of USA govt officials, are chartering planes to facilitate this. USA corporate firms have already started their evacuations.

Back in the 70's I protested nuclear energy use. I'm very sad this is happening.

I seem to recall reading somewhere that the issue with reactor 4 is that it was shut down for inspection, therefore dormant in itself, but the pool had a full load of "live" fuel rods ready to go back into the reactor once inspected.

I'll try and find that link, in work at the moment and keep getting interrupted by customers.

They have not ordered evacuations. This is the typical ATS member taking a statement and distorting it

news.yahoo.com...

"The State Department strongly urges U.S. citizens to defer travel to Japan at this time and those in Japan should consider departing," it said.

So, fear mongering is your game huh?

Make sure this is right information, I wouldn't be surprised if the meltdown is occuring because the government never tells us jack # anyways lmao

When the old fuel rods reach a certain temp the nuclear reaction can start up again, this will not be a good scenario. As far as I know, the pools they are stored in are boiling dry which then makes the rods hotter which makes the pool evaporate faster.

? Scientist explained that one particle of plutonium inhaled means deaths. Its the most toxic radiation for human body. And those rods were on top of the reactor. This thread is called Reactor 4Completly breached. So, if so. Then that means plutonium rods exposed and emitting.

I dont understand what's fear mongering about this. I am just repeating what i have read, learnt and seen the last couple of days?

Right, that's what I heard on the radio last night. That the core its self was still sound, that it was the container for the spent fuel rods that had gone dry, and that they were trying to string a new power line to the plant to run the pumps.

Having been airline crew for many decades....THAT is another angle I look at, when trying to peek behind curtains, at what (and what not) is going on.

SO far, I do not see any cancellations of normal routine commercial airline flights to Tokyo. Four big USA carriers, American, Delta and United/Continental (in merger process, currently). Looking for today, departures to NRT unaffected. (NRT is Narita. HND for the lesser-used Haneda Airport).

You will see other nation's airlines operating as well, check all the biggies....Japanese (and other Asian) carriers will have more flights in/out of HND than from other countries.

Actually I don't think there has been any fear mongering! In fact, quite the opposite... The experts here in Blighty who have discussed this on the Beeb and Sky News simply can't agree on whats going to happen. Some say it could be far worse than Chernobyl while others say the fall out is minimal and will dissipate over time and is no danger! One thing is for sure, someone is lying... The real question is why?

That's not true at all...

Situation is most definitely NOT under control.
