Qaddafi Forces Advance on Rebel Stronghold of Benghazi

www.foxnews.com

Libya's state television has called on all armed forces to join the pro-Qaddafi forces advance towards Benghazi as Qaddafi's son says the rebel stronghold will fall to government forces within 48 hours.

"All the armed forces in the eastern area who have not joined the traitors are called upon to join the forces as they advance towards Benghazi," the message said, according to Reuters.

As the world ignores Qaddafi, he is almost to completely retake all of Libya. Still nothing in the way of aid from those in a position to help. The direct request from those seeking Freedom ignored completely.

I fully understand the stance to not get involved in a Civil War where the resulting leader if the rebels win, may be worse than Qaddafi. Although it's hard to imagine one worse.

I don't however understand why a No-Fly Zone is not something that could be done for those trying to oust this insane Tyrant.

Why is everyone so down on Qaddafi. Libya belongs to him. He needs to hurry up and slap down those knot heads so he can turn the oil spigot back on. It is not any of our business how others run their countries.. Contrary to popular belief you are not your bother's keeper. We sure do not want some other country/organization coming into the US to tell us how to run our country (such as some UN idiot).. Look how we lost great Cuban items when we got our nose out of joint over Castro. We may still be the world police but we need to pick the battles that are win win.

You beat me too it. I was just going to post this.

The world fiddles while Libya burns.

Rightfully so or not, the US decided not to play the "world's cop" on this one. This left the rest of the world to figure out what should be done, how it should be done, who should do it, etc..

Its hardly a surprise that far more has been said than done.

Leaders dither as Gaddafi prepares for final showdown

There is an attempt now in the UN to get a no-fly zone agreed to. But "questions remain". Meanwhile the rebels get closer to defeat each day. The world says they want Gaddafi gone -but will not lift a finger to help the rebels.

I do not see why James Clapper, the director of national intelligence. got in so much trouble recently for saying that Gaddafi would win unless the rebels got help - its the bloody truth!!!!

Egypt alone could enforce a no fly zone, they have f16s which are more than capable of handling anything Libya has. I very much support a no fly zone but it's time for someone else to put up the military hardware to do it.

Just who is the world police?
What about the civil war in the US?........What if say Russia said to one side or the other lay down your arms?
It's all about oil and you all know it.

I agree I feel for the rebels but it is time to let someone else handle this one.

There are plenty of countries that have a desire from Gaddfi being gone. But none of them will do it.

Everyone complains about the US being the "World's Policeman" - but oddly enough it seems that world agrees such a role is needed, but alone or together they are unwilling to fill it. So in the end they talk and gossip and debate while time slips away.

So then, you are in favor of Dictators who keep their citizens prisoners? Don't get me wrong here, I'm not for getting involved with the Civil War, I am however not opposed to an International participation in a no fly zone to limit the slaughter.

What time is slipping away might I ask?....."It seems that the world agrees such a role is needed" Please post a link for this crap.
Talk and gossip here in Canada is that you guys are nuts and can't get enough of war.
The US government is solely interested in war and the profits to be made from it.
You should see the camera towers here that boarder the river between Port Huron Michigan and Point Edward Ontario.
You would think they are worried about us invading their wonderful country.
Personally I think it is to keep the US citizens in rather than us dreadful Canadian's out.

I doubt it's about oil to those held prisoner by Qaddafi. There is more than just one side to this coin.

Problem is we have a Bully with shotgun, up against a victim with nothing but their fist. I'm torn on whether an effort should be made to level the playing field.

They are only about two days away from loosing totally is I think the point. Then no doubt Qaddafi will start handing out brutal punishments to those involved. A blood bath is imminent as the world sits back and watches.

Right now if I and the wife attempt to cross the US boarder here at Point Edward we will be detained and possibly for ever.
We do not have passports which is no big deal but now with homeland security it is just that....ONE BIG DEAL.
No phone calls.....no Lawyers ..... screw all.....Nada Zip Zero.
Yep we are bad people here, the wife works for ESSO aka Exxon in the states and we both have really bad records too......Disco and some Jazz.........Not even 12 years ago we used to walk across the Blue water bridge and just wave at the customs people and they would wave us on. We would walk to Port Huron for an Ice cream cone and then walk home.
Now its off to Cuba or wherever the US is doing their dirty work now.
Don't believe me? You should see our local paper here in Canada.......the businesses in Port Huron Michigan are just screaming for us to come and shop.
Not many here take up the offer anymore......It's a done deal.
We have many American friends personally here but we probably will never see them again in person.

From your post........Muammar Gaddafi's forces are pushing towards the rebel stronghold of Benghazi and predict they will suppress the rebel uprising within days. Meanwhile, world leaders continue to dither on imposing a no-fly zone over the country.

Possibly because any action would be considered illegal in a world court of law?
Or just maybe China and Russia have said no and when they say no they mean no!

Watch your backs there in the US....If China call in their chips the house comes a tumbling down it does.
PS to Frogs I did not nor did I toss insults at you or anyone I just say whats in my heart.
apologizes to you and anyone who thinks I did.

So what the hell is the "west" supposed to do? Have the carrier group off shore along with France and Germany move in and stop Qaddafi's military? But I thought America is in it for oil?

So if the west (Which is basically America to everyone despite other nation ships off shore) lands boots on shore, it will be an outrage - but if they don't they will be looked at as the bad guys because they have the capability to do something but didn't. Anything the "west" does, is bad - right?

No one will be satisfied.

Why can't the West just stay the hell out of it?
Let me ask you this, do you see countries with tons of oil reserves invading and occupying and staying forever in countries that also have oil reserves?
The answer is no, you will notice the big interest of countries with little oil reserves are very interested in countries with large oil reserves.
And before you say Afghanistan I will offer that it is a crucial country for a pipeline to serve the west.
Just google it or better yet search ATS there are numerous threads on it.

Comparing the US to what is occurring in Libya is dishonest at best, trolling or baiting people at worst. You hate America that is up to you, but the topic on this thread has nothing to do with your rant at all.

Intellectual dishonesty is a lie as surely as any other form of lie. Even worse because you lie to yourself. People from Canada cross the border and shop without issue all of the time. If you choose not to get a Passport, that is your choice to make and the blame rests on you. If you can not get a Passport because of something you did, some crime you committed, again the blame rests on you.

I also have to have a Passport to go to Canada. Same thing exactly. If I cross illegally, I'll be detained and questioned; if I have a laptop it will be searched, including personal information. If I check out OK, I'll be allowed to go back just as would happen to you with the situation reversed.

If you have no Passport or ID get one. If you can't because you were a bad person earlier in life, shame on you, not the people with the sense to not want to import trouble.

I'm betting the Border Crossing is full of people all of the time who go back and forth without any problems. That is the truth and it's sad you would mislead the International Audience here into believing otherwise. If you can't cross, it's because of something you did or did not do. That is the truth.

Are you pro-Qaddafi? You post as if you are? Are you opposed to people in the Middle East having Freedom and basic rights, because if you are, why are you living in a Free country you hate?

I love how those in the "west" like to think we can pick and choose who should stay in power. We should definitely help the rebels in Libya but let's quietly ignore the shootings and beatings going on in Bahrain...I mean, they're our friends and I'm quite positive the Bahrainian rebels are supported by Al Qaeda.

Really? Yes, Qaddafi is a dictator, but Bahrain is led by a dictator and what about the Saudis? I don't believe they were elected. Maybe we should enforce no fly zone's throughout the world!

Qaddafi is the legitimate government in Libya, period! Stay out western world....stay out! If they truly want freedom, they have to take it. Freedom cannot be given, it must be earned.

No I love my country and right up-til Afghanistan I thought we were really something.
I am ashamed of Canada for invading a sovereign nation and calling it a peace keeping mission.
Regarding the boarder issue it was a fair analogy, I have no criminal record nor does the wife, however you seem do doge my point. Like you said if your detained here at the Canadian boarder, as long as your not toting drugs or a gun your turned back home pronto.
But for us no criminal records Canadians and nothing wrong in our cars you guys can detain us for our lifetime.....
No questions asked...........This is a Factoid and it smacks home as hard as any Dictatorship I know of.
I am not trolling as you say .....I am trying to make a comparison between what is happening there and what is happening here.
Check my previous posts, I don't troll ......I say what I feel is right.
