I clearly remember two times as a child being told not to go out and once to not eat snow due to a cloud from Nevada coming over the top of where we lived. Far, far worse than anything that could come from this and even though hundreds of thousands were exposed, only a relative few developed Thyroid Cancer. Mine is watched at every physical and I know how to access the monies set aside should I have an issue in my old age. Like with asbestos, the money is already laid aside.

The jumping under the desk part was the strangest part. After we did it a few times during drills they decided it was dumb and had us go home instead and join our parents to go to the shelter, which of course nobody did. Once they had us sit in the hallway and cover up. Another dumb thing to do.

I clearly remember daring each other to eat the snow while walking to church one day to a meeting of some kind. We were told it might be radioactive.

you know, i remember reading a article that said the people who lived in the chernobyl area are actually healthier then most people. no cancer, radiation sickness, nothing. it even went on to say that the animals that live in the direct area actually have adapted to the radiation levels after a few generations. i will see if i can find it, i read it bout a year or two ago.

here is one: chernobyl, 20 yrs later. a documentary?

The problem is that people are panicking, preparing to leave their homes and run east. Seems a little dramatic. The post just above yours shows a video with all the nuclear tests in the world. Look how many are in the US. I would be more concerned about them.

And this is exactly the problem with ignorant people. Those who over-react... and those who down-play it too much are both at fault. Just pick a medium and stick with it would be your safest bet. That video has been on ATS forever... seen it many times... love the bloops and the blops.
However, most of those tests were done underground and fallout never released into the atmosphere. I love that video. The point of that video is that indeed they were blowing nukes all over the place and not telling anybody about the dangers. See any similarities? This is why I would never, on my life, believe media. Just listen to what the scientists have to say... they all agree that there IS danger... but it's not huge.

I think mainly, pregnant and nursing women should be concerned. Some of you grown men are acting like a bunch of babies... grow a couple.

On CNN right now they are reporting this second reactor may have contained a plutonium/uranium fuel mix.

Some relative info on the 2nd explosion:

Here is a link with potential danger zones of a radiation cloud:
www.washingtonsblog.com...

And a 3rd explosion too:

“They’re basically in a full-scale panic” among Japanese power industry managers, said a senior nuclear industry executive. The executive is not involved in managing the response to the reactors’ difficulties but has many contacts in Japan. “They’re in total disarray, they don’t know what to do.”

So i guess if one would prefer
to just listen to BS and feel they are
informed because they have a good
writing style then that my friend would be your
loss.

If your actually thinking putting out mis information
is a good thing then all you would
have to do is listen to
the MSM, and we know how understood
they are don't we.

but i myself do think sometimes boondock,
puts out some interesting stuff.
But when it comes to people trying to put
Irrational fear into others then that is not
a good thing no matter what format
or writing style is used.

Do not fear the radiation.....
fear a good writing style......

Though I found your post easy to read, I can't full agree with your implications. Everyone has a perspective, that is their reality. It is your choice if you wish to adopt theirs. A wise person is open to all perspectives, because that is all reality is. Watch CNN, take in the perspective, recycle the areas you don't agree with, tune in to what the religious folks believe, tune out when you no longer agree. Broaden your focus, it makes dealing with the truth a little
easier.

We might have to learn, first hand, why Nuclear power is NOT viable now. After years of us bitching and moaning these unsound technologies issues and the stupidity the corporate management of dangerous materials and methods we still are doing business as usual. They just signed a bill to make more reactors in the states here. A lot more. Put that on hold on that please.

Plenty of radioactive dangers already here. I have a friend who is a Nuclear Physicist and worked for NRC and actually did research on effects of radioactive elements. (there are many different types of radioactive elements.) They tested on on Beagles. I saw the many hundred dogs with vocal chords clipped so they can't bark. Heart wrenching. In fact my friend was "dosed" in a small accident with no issues. But he has told me several stories of violations and accidents they don't want us to know about.

Like: 3 Mile Island is still putting out hot material into the water and environment they are keeping quiet. Also he said that they have buried tons of hot materials in Nevada we do not know about. He cited just one incident that a ton of nuclear material was trucked to northern NV from TX on an unshielded flatbed. It was so hot, the main steel frame of the trailer was bowed from the heat. This means every car that this went past the truck on the road dosed the occupants with hundreds of times more dangerous rads than a medical Xray. That material is buried somewhere in Nevada with likely much more.

These mega corporations who also own power, water and such do not care for us. They want our wool, and lobby to sheer us daily, monthly, yearly. We have to think for ourselves and not believe the fear mongering and misinformation media (news,TV,Radio) who they own too. Folks, we gave all our safety and freedoms to these creeps. We reap what we sow.

I was a kid when the Ranco Seco Nuclear Power Plant near Sacramento CA was first commissioned. At the big opening event us kids swam in the cooling pond, as they had a water park and picnic area for it! Good PR huh? Well, my uncle who was a maintenance worker there ended up dieing from breast cancer, and they decommissioned the plant a decade ago because it was built so badly and had dangerous problems. Lowest bidder construction. Gotta hate that.

So we already have enough to worry about.

I will watch readings and prevailing winds coming for the California west coast, but I won't believe anything till I talk to my friends who know better.

Cracked me up.

My response:

I grew 4! is that normal, or is that due to the radiation?

If it was that hot how did the guy driving the truck survive. I mean thats a long way. Not saying its untrue but I can't see how he made the trip.

To those who think this story is legit...

Do you really think the entire news media would keep the lid on a story so big? Like they wouldn't b ecstatic to have half the continent glued to the tv over concerns about radiation clouds hitting the coast?

And you really believe that all of the countless hundreds, if not thousands of people in the know about what is going on on the ground are all part of a big coverup to ensure maximum carnage?

Are you sure you're thinking this through?

Are you sure YOU'RE thinking this through? Your comment was probably the most ignorant one i've seen yet.

The USA has never lied or covered up dangerous news... it's a fact.
The USA always conveys the most important news and always care for the safety of their public... fact!
Thousands of people are not scared for their jobs and everyone is honorable and self-sacrificing... fact!
MSM has never covered up anything like this before... fact!
After Chernobyl and 3-mile Island, they said exactly how it was and in a timely fashion... fact!

With so many facts, how can we deny ignorance?

I can do sarcasm too.

They won't say a word unless its confirmed by a major ironclad source. They don't want to be responsible for starting a panic.

I just heard the CNN weather forecast and they said that for the next 20 hours or so, the wind will be from the Northeast in Japan, effectively pushing the radioactivity back onto their soil and unfortunately in Tokyo's direction. Let's see if they expand the evacuation zone.

Justify yourself. Yes I have thought this through. I live on the west coast. Do you?

Stop reacting to hyperbolic unsubstantiated nonsense and use your brain.

I'm not saying there is no threat. I am saying that when that threat comes we will hear about it from CREDIBLE sources.

The video on the jetstream says, only if we have a significant event, it reaches the jetstream and we share it planetwide.

That second explosion was a plutonium Shroom. I call that a significant event.
