What makes you think it looks strange? It's fully formed and the bow shock looks solid.

Not here but it looks like it has stopped updating again. It's the third time since the end of February that it has stopped after years of near perfect service. Makes me wonder if there is something going on that they don't want people to see in the simulations.

Solar flares are a coming, this rock is gonna roll!

This is a fairly typical graphic of pressure from a solar wind. It typically shows the magnetic field going crazy. If you want to see the magnetosphere go nuts just watch all of March 11th (the day of Japans 8.9) data. Or watch the day Chile, Haiti, or any other day with a 7.0 or larger earthquake. Majority of the days that have had a large earthquake also have had high pressure on the magnetosphere.

OK ...i look at this site once a day... ican tell you what i see different...the pressure of solar activity on our magnetic field is very high!....the indicator has always been in th ered ...but now its clearly in the extreme white.

also the ionospheric convection seems fine but under intense pressure...as you can see by how far the......hold on..

WHILE WRITING THIS I JUST NOTICED... I THINK ..MAYBE...THEIR IS MAGNETIC POLAR SHIFT GOING ON.

the red lines should ultimatly be pointing down aand the the blue up...but here i see the opposite.....oh why do i notice this at bed time...mate take a look at their archives and see if there is a difference on the ionospheric convection diagram...compare it to older ones...ill see it in the morning..

does this mean the sun has as well....??...

It's showing a mild to medium solar storm. I've been paying attention to it for a while now.

First off... I'm not bashing you.... and I'm not calling you a fear monger...

But why would you type this in all caps...

WHILE WRITING THIS I JUST NOTICED... I THINK ..MAYBE...THEIR IS MAGNETIC POLAR SHIFT GOING ON.

...and go to bed... cos It appears you are believing what you are saying... why don't you back it up? I mean... If I ACTUALLY thought there was a pole shift... I wouldnt just rattle it off... I would look and check and see, before posting it... and if I actually BELIEVED it... I would not go to bed... I would watch and see and be ready to wake up my family and make sure everyone I love is counted for...

I just find what you said to be... irreverent... due to lack of interest in backing it up until tomorrow...

sorry dude... I dont mean to call you out... I believe in going on a little faith...but when it comes to an "alarm" like this how about proof?

I was just curious with the going on's in the center of the tail the very up and down feature. Im no expert by far but i do look at this site daily and thort it was fluxing a lot. Thanks all for the imput.

the scientist in me says its possible, but this is mainly a wild guess

asides all the awesome waves cycle 24 has been dumping, could it be an interaction between our magnetosphere and the one we recently confirmed that exists on the moon?

news.nationalgeographic.com...

it would make sense now with the coming supermoon on the 19th that there is gonna be more interaction between both fields, as both cores will be as close as they can possibly be.

or am i just high?

Hi AnotherYOU,

Fascinating!!!!! I was just saying something about this yesterday on ATS. That shouldn't surprise me.

Hey thanks for the info about our Moon's magnetosphere! I guess I've not put much thought into the Moon having a force field. If it has an electromagnetic core then it would generate a magnetic field. That makes sense.

Thanks for the link! I'll give it a good reading.

Oh and I sure hope you'll consider starting your own thread on this hypothesis you've got going here.

I watch this site quite often as well. The magnetic lines seem to be going a little haywire as normal. I absolutely agree that lately the pressure getting into the white range is new. Take a look at March 11, 2011 19:00-23:50 UTC. This is one of the bigger "hits" I've seen. I'd be very worried if the the red magnetic lines flipped to the top and blue to the bottom for a significant period of time.

I was just studying up on Solar Flares. I find it interesting how scientists believe an event called "Magnetic Reconnection" is responcible for causing them.

en.wikipedia.org...
( I apologize for the wiki link, but for this purpose it should be good enough, feel free to further investigate)

Am I crazy for thinking that if Magnetic Reconnection can cause such a violent responce on the sun, that pehaps it can do the same, albeit on a much smaller scale, here on Earth? When these Solar Winds smash into Earth the magnetic field is disturbed. Many of the more powerful Solar Winds appear to make the magnetic lines go haywire. Could a "Magnetic Reconnection" be happening on Earth after some of these disturbances. If so, perhaps it causes Earthquakes when the Magnetic Reconnect happens below a high pressured fault line.

Please don't bash me for sharing my thoughts.
