I guess that geiger counters arn't too common. If you can do this We might get some actual information rather than speculation. I it turns out that our findings are different from what is being told then we can launch the conspiracy end of it. One that would have some credability

We've got random traffic 'checkpoints' that rival border crossings; we've got body scanners run by molester thugs so that chertoff can stay acceptably wealthy; we've got laws against gardening and the patriot act; we've got people on tear lists for pointing out that our water tables are destroyed for halliburton's greed with obama's blessing; and I keep looking at the official lime green radiation map and I can count the number of reporting stations, within the CONTINENTAL UNITED STATES, using my 10 fingers.

IS THAT ALL WE GET?? Oh, yes, they are working on making the 'patriot act' permanent, as to never be bothered showing their hands at vote, again, as things turn nasty as to what is, and what is not, a 'terrorist'.

www.whitehouse.gov...

While obama plays and attends st patrick's day celebrations.

At this point, let us never forget that the government no longer has power over us. They have made a huge mistake thinking they can dumb us down using the media arm of government!

Yup, those geiger counters must be rare.

West Los Angeles

This is a live shot of a RadAlert Inspector Nuclear Radiation Monitor in EnviroReporter.com's Santa Monica office on the West Los Angeles border. Elevation 140 feet.
The unit is approximately one meter off of the ground in a wood-floored structure built over crawlspace with soil foundation.
The Inspector picks up ionizing radiation and, in the setting you are seeing, is measuring in Counts Per Minute or CPM. As noted in the comments of our earlier post, we have been taking ten minute averages to hone in on more accurate readings of the gamma radiation that this detector is picking.

You can read all they have to say HERE
To watch LIVE feed of the RadAlert Inspector Nuclear Radiation Monitor, click HERE

Thanks for the link. will be one of the geigers im watching now, somewhere I saw an updated list of readings from an institute that was doing this before the quake, . .anyone know of any govt or institutional sites that list daily readings? . . .I know we cant fully trust corporate govt info to the extreme, but the more sites to compare, the better, .. and once again for the latest post and site, . .definitely need those

And back to normal background after rains passed.

California will survive this if it doesn't get worse- now let's go fix Japan...

The following is a chart pulled from the Reuters live feed.
It illustrates radiation sources, and maximum levels.

Background radiation readings will normally go up when it rains.
If you had watched the monitoring stations in the past, you would of seen the same thing.
You have dust in the upper atmosphere that settled in from outer space.

You also have dust in the upper atmosphere from places that have high background radiation (naturally accruing radioactive particles in the dirt).

It is especially true in states where you have a lot of uranium in the ground.

Remember that radon is from uranium in the ground. If you are in a state where you have a lot of radon (northern and western parts of the US), then you have uranium under your feet. In someplace the uranium rich dirt will be exposed, and there is where it will get picked up in the wind and blown around and finally….. coming down with the rain.

And you also have other decay products from radon and everything else blowing around that gets carried down to the ground when it rains.

I live in Southern Oregon and have been trying to access all of the links posted by members in regards to Geiger Counts. I get error messages on all but two sites. So I kept reading about the higher levels of radiation but could never confirm them. It would be very nice if a veteran member could start a thread of links to the monitoring stations across the US and abroad.

I'm a new member (well I registered in 09 but only posted once ort twice about the swine flu)... so my ability to post is fairly limited. Thankyou to all for continued updates!!

Don't try to make this sound like normal readings after rain.

I worked at the Nevada Test Site and have been using my counter for years.

I've taken before and after rain background readings in my present location for years.

This was rainout- not immediately dangerous, but significantly present. 200% normal background.

To the other poster who wants online counter links:

The epa RADNET links posted only work if you sign up for an account- and get put on a list. The public access page at EPA RADNET up to the time of this post is BOGUS with no data shown on it's links- a COVERUP by the gov't in a time of possible danger.

yes go with the radiation network and black cat systems listed above for now, . . .do not listen to those people who are trying to discredit good sites that have chat programs by posting false fear mongering data on them , . . the govt hates competition and is currently trying to discredit the American populous ingenuity with idiot posters, . .the two links mentioned are current good ones, and as of today , it appears that rad levels across the US are at good healthy levels, . . ..enjoy the day

Thanks for your insight Chakotay. It is times like these I wished I had your experience in this field. By the way, I'm an old school "trekkee" but I have to say in Voyager I only really liked the Nelix character and I liked Voyager just slightly more than Deep Space Nine, which I thought was pretty horrible.

I worked out a fix for the EPA site if your browser isn't showing the images/graphs (repost from another thread):

To get in to the EPA Public Site if your browser is blocking images and graphs:

For Chrome:

Click your upper-right corner wrench icon;
Click OPTIONS on the drop-down list;
Click UNDER THE HOOD on the left side;
Scroll down to SECURITY;
Check Use TLS 1.0
Do not uncheck USE SSL 3.0
Close toolbox window.

Fix for Windows and Firefox HERE.

Open this address to test: RADNET PUBLIC and be sure to scroll down- the map is at the bottom of the page.

If that works, go to Japanese Nuclear Emergency and surf away.

This INCREASES your security and then Rad Net Public will display properly. Technical: Transport Layer Security
