Not sure if you guys have the news on, but Tsunami Warnings (not watches) have been issued for the West Coast of the US from California to Washington. Hawii too.

Fox News has it all being broadcast.

Amazing Disasters...

I'm packing to leave right now. Our local news said that a wave is expected to cause damage here on the North Oregon coast.

Ok here's some proof direct from the University of Utah who have 20 seismographs around Yellowstone, and directly feed to USGS. USGS have not been releasing the info but as they say 'follow the money' in this case where USGS get their intel from and here you go. Please note you can tour around all 20 sites with drop down menue at bottom of page. Here is an example of what happened at Yellowstone just after the 8.8 in Japan.

quake.utah.edu...

and here is what is still going on

quake.utah.edu...

This is happening all over the park.
I am really beginning to think that Y'stone is acting as a sponge, absorbing other EQ's. I have posted something similar on the other Yellowstone thread

This is crazy! Although Yellowstone seems to have quieted down, it looks like there are going to be some tsunamis from the Japan quakes... I wonder what is going on, and how serious this is. I wish I knew how to read seismographs for their magnitude.

Est. 3-4.5 ft. wave expected for N coast of Oregon right now expected in 4 hours.

Another decent sized quake.

I was starting to hope it was over.....

TA? What are your thoughts at this point?

this thread seems like piggy backing the serious quake in Japan.

There are threats from this, as we are all aware, and there is a thread for the Japan quake, the tsunami threat and probably others.

Whilst it is good to monitor these things, especially as there is major happening in the areas of solar flares and moon perigee this month. These factors have possibly influenced the increased geomagnetic activity.

As well as all the other things going on in the world and beyond, these times aren't average and people are on alert status as it is.

Keeping focused, calm and rational is especially sensible in such times. Facts are all important.

Shouting ''omg omg runnnnn!!!!!!'' as an OP without referencing any facts is just scaremongering. There are quakes all the time in these areas, sometimes more, sometimes less, seismo's reflect this.

There isn't a current warning of a major threat from those that are qualified to properly monitor these things from Yellowstone.

Less drama, more facts would be appropriate!

They've got a seismologist on right now on CNN talking about the "possibility" that earthquakes could trigger other earthquakes thousands of miles away. He said it was difficult to prove, but that it seems to be possible on computer simulations. I think someone should direct him to this thread.

No, in your case I think more reading of thread would be appropriate.

westcoast, my thoughts are at this point are that I really wish PuterMan would get his butt on the spectro analysis and check seed data for any signs of tremor from a few stations. Cause with all these mega S-waves and teleseisms happening at the same time, it is difficult to see anything from just GEE. We need frequency analysis.

Have you not read the entire thread? Do you not believe the credentials of the OP?

You can sit back and ignore this thread with a lot less effort than coming in and trying to debunk something that he is actually qualified to monitor.

Thanks for your opinion, go read your bible.

This is a screen shot of several live seismos in the park RIGHT NOW:

I have been watching things for awhile and this is scaring me.

This IS worthy of a thread and the OP is NOT scare mongering.

Just wait for the quakes to be added to the list later...you will soon see how real the concern is.

Is Yellowstone about to erupt? Who the heck knows, and the OP never said it was but the FACT that this massive historical quake triggered this reaction in one of the biggest supervolcanos in the world is nothing short of terrifying.

The reverse doesn't seem to happen though

Okay as you can see I am very new here.

Should I seriously be worried about Yellowstone after this 8.9?

Like holding my jug of rum preparing to meet death worried?

I'm asking in all seriousness here. If we are all going to die by Yellowstone, I'd like to have a couple mins of preparation to say some last words to people.

TrueAmerican, you might to update your OP with some more information as some people don't care to read the thread and only read the first post and then decide to pass judgement.

Cheers.

No, not yet. These results are inconclusive, but the big quake did appear to cause some activity at Yellowstone. How severe that is remains to be seen.

Jellystone is always grumbling, and even goes through stages of Intense grumbling, then
it just stops.

What ever is happening, I wouldn't read too much into it.
And just looked at the Past Week, and it's actually quiter than normal.
OMG, it's too Quite, It's gunna blow....

Do you believe some person's drama more than facts?

Here are the facts from the live USGS site, these guys are qualified and aren't shouting ''wtf'' at people form questioning their lack of evidence and facts, nor are they having a drama.

There hasn't been any significant quakes at Yellowstone since before the Japan quake

www.seis.utah.edu...

The OP doesn't appear to be showing any credentials just drama.

The point is, seeing some blip on a seismo doesn't mean anything, just like the threads before showing blips on seismos that were just normal activity and ....nothing happened!

Yellowstone is a major threat in general and it should be treated with respect, the last thing people need is apathy due to dramatic ''this is it'' rants based on seismo blips.

Concentrate on the FACTS.

As for the presumed insult about about reading a bible, seriously if this is how you choose to insult people because they aren't agreeing to your opinion, then it says more about your personality than mine, and people who read bibles. Do not presume to know me.
